2004 Mushroom season( Victoria)

Hmm, well I just got back from my first mushroom hunt ever (I'm in Perth btw) and I didn't find shit. I found 6 or 7 different types of musrooms but none turned blue on bruising. One bunch of shrooms looked like most of the pics of p subs here but still didn't brusie blue.

What kind of environment do p subs prefer. Woody yes, moise? shady? Full sun? Under growth? Lawn? I want to know if I'm even looking in the right places.

Secondly, anyone here that finds p subs, can you do me a favour? Take a serious of photos say at 5, 10, 15 and 20 minute intervals after bruising a sub so I can get a better idea of what the blue brusing is meant to look like? Could you also take the photos with a $10 buck note in frame for blue reference?

Cheers =D

if you'd read through the 22 pages of this thread... :p j/ks

honestly tho, it's been said many times before, blue bruising is generally VERY obvious... it's not something you miss. if it doesnt bruise blue easily and obviously then its 99% not likely to be a p. subaeruginosa.

substrate - natural wooded areas - eg. eucalyptus mulch, manmade woodchipped areas (which tend to be much more successful).

if it hasnt rained much/often then you're most likely not going to find them in a dry open spot, however if theres lots of rain, they'll grow abundantly regardless.

Subs don't like the direct sun cos it's fucks with mycellium....... they prefer shade where the sun stil lgets in a bit through the trees. The best areas are like creeklands..... where there is lots of wet wood :P

I went to a patch that I believe to be P. eucalypta today just to show you what I always believed to be P. eucalypta. I think the mushrooms I posted in my last entry are different to this.

Here is a photo of the mycelia in my back yard!! (as a result of spores falling there by accident....)

Why thank you =) I have nice full res. versions if you want them these a just small crops for much larger images.

I would just like to state that I had my first mushroom experience of the season last night. Due to chronic over-use in previous years I hadn't enjoyed them for a while. But last night the 'magic' from the shrooms entered my world and was as wonderful as the early days.

wow, that mycellium looks promising, fingers crossed its the right stuff !

Good stuff Twominds, nothing like a nice magical magic mushroom trip to brighten your day.

Funny, when i used to abuse acid, it did loose its magic somewhat. But last muchroom season i took them fairly regualarily but each trip was more magical than the last (actually, one time my gf and I took 5 dry grams each last season and that trip was somewhat more magical than some preceding trips, but other than that). The final climax was some we'd saved for EC Nov28-30, where we took 2.5g each for Infected Mushroom's sunrise Lightening show and that was it for drugs the whole weekend, that was a true life-changing experience. But yeah, especially since that 5g trip and the EC trip my life has become a LOT LOT more magical in general and now, I can't help but have those true magical/spiritual tirps everyone time i take ANY drug. Even alcohol (though i only drink VERY occasionly)

Picked a few this season, but haven't had a chance to eat some yet, was gonna this weekend but unfortunately Im a bit sick. Im not hanging too bad for them though, i just wanna make sure i get some while i can, not to stressed about when i eat them, dont mind if I wait to the summmer time ( i love summer night trips !) Def saving some for this years Earthcore as well, can't wait to see GMS while shrooming.

In the first image shown at the link below, the spore print is a dark purple almost brown colour, I know this was mentioned a as a possible result of the wether, i was just wondering if that colour was what ware referred to.
As you can see the stem bruised quite obviously, i expected the spore print to be a similar colour. (the colour of the top is slightly darker that actual as image was photo shopped to show colour of spore print more accurately)
The second pic shows the mushroom in it's original habitat, also with a flash but looks more lite the original natural colour.

If you're asking if those are subs then yep I believe they are. That spore print is normal for these mushrooms and its not to do with the weather.. enjoy.

Quintell: a p.sub in my opinion. Thanks for providing all the information we needed to be able to help identify it, this is how ID's need to be done!

Thanks, dunno if I'll eat em just yet, I just got all in to the idea of a treasure hunt :). I'm trying to dry them now under a fan, although it's rather cold in my place (probably averaging arround 10-15 degrees c) would it be better to do it in a warmer area?

A fan is fine. Will take a couple of days, but what is best to do after that is sit them in a tub with a heap of dessicant to absorb every last drop of water out. Make sure the mushrooms aren't going to touch the dessicant though!

And yes, that is a p. sub you have :)

what about using something like a food dehydrater? Does anyone have any experience using one and if so is their a noticable lose in potency? From which i would have to adjust my dose?

Its been mentioned before but here we go again:
1- Lay mushrooms infront of fan for 2-3 days (until nearly dry)
2- Put desicant in the bottom of a tupaware container and add a layer of newspaper above this
3- Put mushrooms (now mostly dry) ontop of the paper and seal the tupaware lid shut.
4- 1-2 days latter remove the mushrooms and store in air tight container with a small amound of desicant (damprid or silica gell etc).
5- Put in dark dry cool place until read to ingest.

^^ I would not recommend simply resting them on newspaper, as the desiccant can be absorbed into the mushroom through the newspaper. This is mentioned in some of the shroomery drying guides as a no no. You should rest the mushrooms on something so the desiccant is unable to reach them, like flywire as shown in the drying chamber below. It allows enough space above for mushrooms, while the desiccant is safely stored below and cannot come into contact with the mushrooms.

Hi guys.

I've read with interest this thread, and it reminded me of a bag of dried mushrooms a mate gave to me.

I can't work out whether they're psubs or not, as they're dry. Anyway, i've taken a picture, I would love a 2nd opinion :)

its too hard to tell horsey, they are dry and the picture is too small. I don't think anyone could tell you from that information. :\

Mushroom John says putting fresh mushies in a proper food dehydrator is hands down the best way to dry fresh mushies! :)
