Why do heroin when you have dank bud everywhere? Why take xanax when you have dank bud everywhere? Why drink alcohol when you have dank bud everywhere?
I've done heroin on and off for the past couple years and finally stopped it. It is my least favorite drug: Addictive, expensive, and gives no euphoria after you do it a couple of times. And it's only after a couple of times using it that the addiction begins and your bank breaks.
Your future story, should you try it: It's great at first if you have a good connect. Really great; like no other drug. You had no idea you could feel this way; it's new, secretive and social; like the first time you had sex. Unlike sex, however, that initial incredible euphoria only happens the first time you do it. Then, the next 100-10,000+ times you use it (only 100 in my case, thank the universe) you think "why the fuck did I spend all my money on this drug to make me feel normal when I used to be able to get a 20 sack of weed and get epicly stoned for the entire weekend"? Then you realize three hours have gone by since your last shot, but - dammit - no way can you stick another needle in the common vein in your right arm. So, off you go to the kitchen or bathroom to run extremely hot water over either arm for a good 5 minutes to try and make those veins on the top of the arm come up. After some time, you quickly dry your arm off, swab it, and proceed to miss 8-9 times before finally registering. You begin injecting the shot, but your hand is shaking so much from the anxiety over missing that you accidentally push the needle in too far halfway through the injection. Because you were injecting quickly in a feeble attempt to get a rush, as well as being on dope already, half the shot goes into the muscle on the top of your arm. You think, "fucking dammit, now I won't get a rush from all that dope". You've missed shots before, of course, and aren't too concerned; but the following morning, when that miss is red and swollen, you get concerned. Two days later you have no nerve function in the top of your arm at all. "Weird", you think, and quickly go on Bluelight.org to try and see if people can explain why this is happening.
To your despair, no one has had nerve function fail because of a missed shot. You were forced to plug your dose that morning because of what you did the night before, but it just wasn't the same. You seriously debate injecting into your neck, penis or foot (edit: guys yes you can actually inject into your erect penis, never done it though); all of which sound downright awful. You consider asking people on Bluelight what you should do but then delete the draft post because asking people if IV'ing into your penis gives a better rush than shooting in your ass might come off a little strange.
You can't use your left arm any more as that vein collapsed weeks ago. Seriously, when you went to the hospital for an STD test the nurse was like "why is there only a vein available in your right arm?" Well, she thinks that and assumes the obvious but doesn't actually say anything. Finally, you get the courage to try to inject into the top of your other arm. This time you take a bath to make *sure* all the veins are up as much as possible. This shot works, and you don't get a rush or feel "high" - but you do feel normal, just like the days when you had never tried heroin in the first place.
You have been using for three months. How will you look in three years? Thirty years?
No thanks, I'm going to stick with my dank, California top-shelf hybrid marijuana strains that I get an ounce of for what I used to pay for a bundle (aka day's worth) of heroin. You can choose to walk the path I did, or to simply smoke more weed... it's your life.
