Television True Blood

The two rape scenes from last season and this season were handled completely differently. We were shown to "like" Franklin....

i'm actually mad disappointed with the removal of Franklin. i thought he could be a good character to have working around with Tara, because imho Tara is the dullest, flattest, shallowest character in the whole fucking series. If Franklin had stayed around, I think they could have used him to make Tara into someone I should give a shit about. As it stands, I like her away from everyone else and in New Orleans, not fucking anyone elses shit up. Tara is probably my least favourite character, and as far as i'm concerned, Franklin was the best thing that ever happened to her story arc.

ugh tara sucked. i liked franklin, he was a funny vamp. good series addition IMO. him and jessica

Agreed on the Jason scene.
It was uncomfortable.

Tara, yeah, I dislike her most this season.
She's a good actress- but her character is annoying and dull.

The Eric/witches thing is good though.
I'm really curious as to who the woman channeling through whatsherfacewitch.
I was disappointed with the whole fairy world too- but each episode has been better than the last.
I'm hoping it continues.
i'm getting more used to it as well now. trying to look at it from a more detached book perspective lol, i don't get pissed as much over things changed...as much...

No, the whole point of Eric losing his memory was so that the writers could 'believably' initiate a romance between him and Sookie. They had been teasing at it ever since she drank his blood, and amnesia is the only way they could accomplish that. It's the oldest and most hackneyed trick in the screenwriter's playbook.

LOL! I think there is QUITE A BIT to argue against it as the "best show on TV". I don't think it's the worst, but the best? Eh...

The reason most TV shows suck nowadays is because of attitudes like yours. "Don't think about it, just sit back, slack your jaw, and swallow everything the writers shove down your throat". Sorry, I expect shows, especially those on HBO, to adhere to a higher standard than what is currently being perpetuated by True Blood. The last episode was probably my favorite of the season, mainly because it was directed by Daniel Minahan, who is by far the best in their line-up of directors.

I care about something like that because it doesn't make any sense. What does Bill being a punk rocker in London have ANYTHING AT ALL to do with the story? The whole point of the scene was to show that Bill was approached by the "Vampire League" to infiltrate the monarchy and root out the vampires with anti-human sentiments. They could have put him somewhere closer to his roots and it would have made more sense, but the writers probably decided it would be a good opportunity for Stephen Moyer to display his British accent, which is the only thing that could be surmised from that scene. Things like that annoy me because they are STUPID.

You also seem to be completely missing the point of my posts. I don't have anything against the show, I think it's a good show, but it's disappointing when the writers/directors do a shitty job with an otherwise interesting premise. The fourth episode of the new season pretty much embodied every negative aspect of the show. The cinematography was amateur, the acting was ridiculous (particularly the scenes with Tommy and his mom and those with Sookie and Alcide), the pacing was terrible, and the dialog sounded like it was written by a toddler. Is it the fault of the show? No. It was Michael Lehmann's fault, the director of the episode. I think they just need better writers and directors, or at least people with a fresh perspective on things.

bro, the MAIN plot points are based off of the books. eric loosing his memory isn't just the writers twist.
bill's storyline is though.
do some research before you have your shitty theories and bashing to do plz? then everyone will consider taking your posts seriously haha

I'm nervous about what will happen next week.
All I know is that I hate Bill more and more every episode.

ugh samesies.

i wasn't happy with this latest one. bill taking eric and jason not shifting at the moon.
like, wtf. why have jason go through all that if he's not going to change into a werepanther like he's supposed to in the books?
i knew they were gunna fuck up the werepanther storyline as soon as they showed hotshot as some random meth-town and killed off calvin norris. really upsetting because in the books i found the hotshot community really fascinating.

:\

a change i am interested in though; this weird witch shit. all though they abandoned the were-wolf-vamp blood drinking-witches, this new twist with the old witch from (the inquisition i think?) is pretty cool.

a couple things --- you think Alcide is living on top of Russel Edgington? that would be awesome.

is Eric going to save the day from Marnie? Papa Luis was the other oldest vamp in the neighborhood, and he's a child compared to Eric. Eric (even as an amnesiac) is a viking vampire god!

fuck yes pam lol.

do you think Jason is going to turn into anything?

I'm sure it was. Does that make it not a cliche? I don't think so.

That would be fucking sweet if Alcide lives on top of Russell Edgington. I also think he's definitely going to have a showdown with Antonia (in Marnie's body). With jason, I'm split on what I think's going to happen. I think he wants to, but like Alcide and Debbie said, you had to have parents who would full blooded to become a werewolf, so I mean we know Sookie's/Jason's grandfather was a faerie, so idk. I felt really sad for him when he said to Jessica how "Sookie always gets everything" so, that may interlude with something.

jason didn't turn :(

i did like this newest episode though. this witch thing is pretty cool, while reading the books i did feel liek the whole witch coven just being were-wolf, vampire blood drinking, witches was KINDA cool but i like had sort of just wanted to see something new. so it's a pretty good change IMO. as is jessica. she's my all time FAVE show addition <3 i only like bill when he's with her lolol they should just cut him out entirely except for scenes with jessica bahaha.

and awesome cliff-hanger me thinks :D

I have to say, despite all my qualms with the show, I keep watching.

I think Jessica is single-handedly keeping this show alive for me right now. Without her character, I doubt I'd be nearly as interested. Oh, and Jason because he cracks me up. The most recent episode, the Jessica/Jason dialogue as she's being silvered to a bedframe, I actually laughed out loud. Also, Marney is cool. I like her character.

But when you take some of the characters. LaFayette looks really (almost disturbingly) bad in drag. Tara needs to chill the fuck out. I wish she'd go back to New Orleans, scissor her girlfriend for a while and relax. I didn't want to see Sookie and Eric hook up at all, so the fact that they're turning it into a giant suckfest (no pun intended) is really bothering me. Plus, I really don't want to see any more tight shots of his ass. Sam's brother is just relentless in being an asshole, and that creepy baby plotline just isn't doing much for me.

And that's the thing. This show is truly relentless in some ways. Sometimes you just want a character to die or get better, or move on.. and they will continuously torture the viewers over several episodes with the same shit.

That aside, I will continue watching. The show is pretty interesting.

Fucking loved this last episode. The battle in the cemetery was pretty sweet. As much as I love seeing Anna Paquin naked, the sex scenes with Eric go on for way too long. If you're gonna have a sex scene that long, there better be tits in every frame... otherwise I lose interest. Or if they had crazy sex, like the vampire in the first season that had the bitch chained up. I really like how Sam's storyline is developing, and I fucking LOVE Jessica and Jason. I always kinda hated Hoyt. I really don't get the whole creepy baby thing, either. I'd really like to see dialog with more substance... but I've grown not to expect it, and learned to just enjoy the show for what it is. It's definitely grade A entertainment, imo.

I thought the last "battle scene" was pretty stupid, but there were enough shots of Sookie naked to make up for it.

I just think the last battle seen was unbelievable. Bill could have taken whatever backup he wanted, but chose his questionably amnesic arch enemy whom he had recently almost killed, and his ex-girlfriend who is screwing said enemy.. ? Interesting choices..

But then Marney shows up and brings... Tara and a bunch of pasty overweight wikkan chicks? Why? What is Tara gonna do, bitch and complain people to death, while on the verge of tears?

I also thought the graveyard fight was a little dumb, but whatever. Still better than 99% of anything else airing at the moment.

Where did Alcide come from at the end? He just kinda shows up at Sookie's door and then runs to the cemetery. Also, how did he not notice his girlfriend 10 feet behind him? Aren't werewolves supposed to have an heightened sense of smell?

For a season with such a thoroughly-lukewarm intro, it has ramped up nicely in quality; last Sunday's was my favorite since last season's finale.

After seeing the latest episode I completely hate Tara's character, she's just so naive and is starting shit unnecessarily. I also hate the witch, so she got raped and murdered like 400 years ago? let it go. It's not like she never killed any vampires. And I wish Pam would have just killed Tara, she just pisses me off so much. Same with that old religious fanatic lady, so damn annoying but I guess that's intentional. I'm also tired of seeing Eric's ass, seeing sookie's tits hardly makes it worth it for me lol.

meh.
everything sucks but jessica.

and way for alan ball to ruin the shower sex scene. he not only is discouraging new actors/actresses from reading the books, he's also taking something he KNEW the book fans were DYING to see, and fucking ruins it. "OH MY GOD IT'S SNOWWWWINGGG"
what the crap is that.
he just wants to piss off the book fans now and it's really getting on my last nerve.
he's ruining true blood completely.

I'm only in the early 3rd season, but this show cracks me up. Pretty cheesy, but funny and intriguing at points. Fun to drink and watch. Gotta love Terry, Lafayette and Jason's characters, they're hilarious.

Didn't read the books, and I am sure they are very different, but I think I want to read them now.
