The Alcohol thread...

^^ haha TBH, if it was anyone else, that would be the case..

Don't know why but I have a naturally high tolerance to opiates and a 'self inflicted' tolerance to alcohol..

At no point was I unconsciousness/ODing.. In actual fact, I was awake and socializing for about 8 - 9 hours after the shot... didnt yack till about 4 hours after the shot but as I mentioned before, my bad.. fuckin stupid thing to do and any alcohol + bupe. is a bad combo...

been drinking CC and dry (ginger ale) today, you won't be disappointed mixing it dry. i drink whiskey dry as well and most other liquor (bourbon and rum if i'm shouted it) apart from vodka. had them and peroni's (midstrength) last night with a friend around a fire, smoking cones, listening to tunes, taking valium :)

Drinking on my nightly staple bourbon and coke, not as many deep as I usually would be at this point but feeling cruisy. God I love drinking...

I dunno that the naloxone would have anything to do with making suboxone and alcohol a bad mix as it is naltrexone that is the opioid antagonist used for alcoholism that I am aware of. That said, perhaps there is something about opioid antagonists that makes on adverse to alcohol?

I tend to find these days as I always drink a reasonable amount on opiates that I often do have a chunder or two in absence of an antihistamine. Generally I think if you are going to take more than a moderate amount of opioids and/or alcohol when used in combination with the other you need a fair tolerance to both if you don't expect a quick chuck session.

The theory behind naltrexone is that alcohol activates the opioid system therefore blocking it will make drinking less pleasurable. I'm sure naloxone could have the same effect, but it has a much shorter half-life so I don't really see it making a difference in practical terms unless you IV it while drinking 8)

BL, I don't consider myself an alcoholic, I do not look to drink @ every occasion, one or twice a month nor do I feel I need to drink, however once the first drink touches my mouth I feel as though I need to keep drinking.

yea, brother. crankinit corrected me, i had to two mixed around. nalaxone has a super short half-life from memroy as well.

from the age of 18-20 was the height of my out of control boozing, used to get in such a mess, was drinking a lot to the point of getting mild alcohol w/d's. cut down shortly after when i got into other drugs. but i still drink quite a lot now, my alcohol tolerance is high. always loved the buzz from alcohol... even though in hindsight its not actually that great compared to other drugs

I'm 27 and drinking is more a part of my life than ever before. Big nights out, quiet wine or scotch at home. I drink something most days. When I was 20 it was more a party thing. Now it's a low key lifestyle thing too.

Try it with ginger beer! Even better than dry.

I like solo and whiskey, or any lemon flavoured soft drink with it.

I used to binge drink at least twice a week from 18-20, now I hardly ever get drunk but I drink mosts days. I really hate drinking daily because I know how unhealthy it is, but a beer is just so lovely, and at less than $15 a sixy it seems like pocket money, but it really does add up.

^ I remember when you talked me into trying that, its not bad but Solo is probably my favourite soft drink and I like it better on its own. Definately goes alright every now and then though.

Pisspotnrock I used to drink heavily once or twice a week for most of my mid to late teens except for a year or so where I abused the shit out of E's. I really only did it because it was cheap, accessible and very socially acceptable and if I am honest never really used to rate it as a drug too greatly.

I started drinking heavily when forced off other substances, when I went back to them I cut the drinking out for a bit but it didn't take me very long at all to realise I had developed a real taste for the demon drink. I pretty much consider myself an alcoholic these days, can't remember the last time I went a whole day without drinking at all. I don't really think drinking in my youth had the impact for me personally, but for a lot of other people it probably does, I just think once you get to the point that alcohol really clicks with you its too damn cheap, available and acceptable to not do it regularly without giving your willpower a good workout on a frequent basis.

Thank you so much for all your responses :)

LOL that pretty much sums me up right there :p :p

I'm a bit over 2 months older than 19 and atm, I'm consuming anything from 6 - 15 'standard drinks' daily but keep in mind, this is spread out over many hours, I never binge.. I know that binge drinkin is the main cause to alcohol related problems but it just worries me how much I've been drinkin lately compared to what I used to...

I stopped binge drinkin a couple of years ago but replaced that with substance use/abuse... now I'm layin off the gear, piss n pot had really started to get to me...

I hate binge drinkin due to the sheer fact it makes you loose complete control of you inhibitions/self control but at the same time, drinkin responsibly daily has probably got to be just as addictive/nearly as damaging but yeahhhh (this is pretty much is the whole reason I started with thread, for everyone's OPINIONS :) )

IMO, alcohol at the right 'dose' is a drug that is greatly underestimated.....

you are probably getting a habit pisspotnrock, it sneaks up on you.

i could miss a couple of days if i wanted to and i have no problem stopping after a few bourbons, but i pretty much drink liquor daily.
started drinking anywhere between 1 to 5 days a week at 17 and havent really slowed down at any point, im 23 now and drink daily.

if you need to ask, you probably already know the answer. there is many different kinds of alcoholics, as you probably already know.

anyways... nothing but jameson, jacks and wild turkey for me all weekend.

still sippin turkey.

when i'm feeling "fruity" i get a nip of lemon lime and bitters in my drink with a slice of lemon. it's fucking delicious. with whiskey or CC. do eeeet;)

when my mate managed a bar in town i would sit there all day drinking them for free, eat dinner then have to drive him home. obviously i had to sober up so we could get pissed after his shift finished by helping ourselves to the freezer:D this went on for 3 months, initially he asked me to stay for a few weeks...

he was obsessed with guitar hero (i loathe it) so i would sing obnoxiously drunk when the songs i knew come on haha.

your're dead-right... appreciate your response :)

Think it might be time to slow down a bit.. atleast till I find a decent girl :)

I hate to play the blame game but 'Stanley Dry (Fresh) White', startin' to love the shit a bit to much..

PPnR I started drinking daily around 19, at first I only needed to have like 5 or 6 standards to unwind in the hour or two before bed to help me sleep, to minimise the cost to myself I would consume it in as little time as possible to get the best effect. In recent months I get a physical craving at night which after it kicks in it never takes me long to pour myself one, the time it happens varies by the time I was up drinking till the night before. The last few months I probably consume anywhere from 350 to upwards of 500mLs of straight bourbon mixed with coke on any given night, starting drinking 4-6 hours before I hit the hay. I almost never drink through the day, and I try avoid binge drinking in social situations as I have had a few epic blunders when doing so in recent years.

When I am out and about I only really drink a lot if I can't get or can't afford methamphetamine, but I much prefer to use meth in public than get shit faced drunk. I tend to find my drinking much easier to control when I am on meth, because I think a lot of the reason why I often end up so drunk in public is because I am atleast partially using it to help with anxiety. When I have another drug like meth to boost my confidence I don't have to rely on alcohol so much so its easier to regulate my intake I find.

I agree with what you said about alcohol at the right dose, the problem (at least for me) is that it puts you in a mind state where you always believe that more will make it better, so this state is only really attainable for a short while before I end up more drunk.

If you can cut back on the drinking it might be a good idea, there are worse problems in the world than alcoholism but its definately something worth trying to avoid if possible.
