Some recent findings with Nootropics:
Hydergine:
- Is still one of my favourite drugs.
- I take it in cycles, roughly 3 weeks on, 2 weeks off.
- It WILL exasperate Orthostatic Hypotension! Best not taken with Alcohol, or on a day one intends to fly (I fainted on a plane due to funky depressurization).
Modafinil:
- Recently had the chance to try - this stuff is miraculous! It is *extremely* useful for someone like me who suffers from chronic fatigue.
- Excellent synergy with Hydergine
- Only disadvantages is that it is WAY expensive and can get anxiogenic toward the end on higher doses.
Adrafinil:
- Superior to Modafinil in every way. Has all of the above, minus negatives.
- Palpably longer-acting than modafinil.
- Is actually more stim-like than modafinil (for me).
- Only negative for me is liver-health concerns.
Nefiracetam
- I had long closed the book on this one as being just-another-depression-inducing 'racetam, yet lo and behold, I've been trying it again in combination with Hydergine and Adrafinil and I do not get any depressive symptoms! And for one, it does what it is supposed to do: act as a cereberal enhancer. HOWEVER, it IS prone to exaggerating ANY unpleasant emotions that may come up - unlike hydergine alone which appears to have definite mood enhancing effects. This appears to be due to a specific synergy between it and hydergine - OR due to the fact that I'm a very different person now from the time I last tried it.
And while hydergine appears to enhance mood, memory, language, philosophical thought and sensory acuity; Nefiracetam appears to enhance problem-solving and alertness, primarily. I actually got so excited about this finding that I ordered a small amount of Aniracetam to try :D

Why do I take Nootropics? The reason is that in the year after I stopped my benzo habit, I've become distinctly aware of JUST how deep into dementia I'd immersed my mind while on benzos. Nootropics may not fix whatever damage was done, but at least they mitigate its effects...
