Zolpidem/Ambien... Opiate Withdrawl

Sooo I have access to a large amount of ambien and not enough dope one day, and take some Ambien around Noon to try and help the anxiety/shakes, my worst symptoms. It didn't do much for those, but helped IMMENSELY with my mood. I've found now Ambien, some Gabapentin and maybe another Benzo/Loperamide is like not even withdrawling. Of course this is a hefty cocktail you don't wanna go for a cruise on, but it has helped me kick a Dope/Sub/Tram habit that had me held pretty tight.

Has anyone else had any experience with this?

There are plenty of threads that I have read on this. The most effective way I ever came off and limited WD is with suboxone. Other than that I usually quit cold turkey and fight the worst of it for about 3 days and take some flexaril or ambien to sleep. I have WD'd quite a few times now and still don't seem to get that the best way is to just stop for good and get on with life. The psychological aspect of it does not go away for a few weeks.....depending how long and strong you have been going. Mine is usually a 60- 90mg a day oxy habit. In fact I am WDing as I am typing this on the end of day 1. Just be strong as I still can't get past the two week mark before I break down from the depression and give in to temptation again.

coffee/tea, hot showers, sex (probably - ive only done the 'batin' lol, ), internet abuse, casual benzo use, BENADRYL - suprisingly KILLS cravings almost completely, immodium, what everyone says really. relaxing/sleepytime herbal teas are also great, especially if they have valerian and/or catnip. supplements: OMEGA capsules and vitamins B and C

using mild opiates, booze, and tobacco, and even weed really- is a big no no. those awaken the original lifestyle's cravings for the opioid-fix and make it even worse because it's like youre half way there. kind of like when you were 17 jonesing for pot, and only had resin in a pipe, which only got you so barely high that you fiended all the worse.

also, relying on kindness and friendship dont work for WD.s those are some major human attachments. they will only heal you temporarily. only lean on people, during the recovery, when you in a hysterical state. otherwise you drive people away and start to associate empathy negatively, with the bad side of opiate use, and learn to NEED something when the whole point is to Stand on your Own two feet

The other day I did an 8mg sub over 3 days and I am detoxing for 2 weeks. It sucks. I would rather just tough it out for 3 days rather than go thru such a drawn out ordeal.

that happened to me the other day... exactly...

i didnt thin kthat shit would happen

After lots of research and assesments, referals, etc I managed to get switched from methadone to a dihydrocodeine detox. 8 X 40mg a day for a week, 7 a day next week, etc.

I'm at week 5 now, so confident there is no long acting opiates in my system. I was a bit cheeky a few times using a bit of gear in between the DHC, but nothing long lasting.

I've decided to go cold turkey as from tomorow morning (Monday) and have gathered the following 'Cold turkey kit' :

I've just been prescribed:

60 X Lofexidine
30 X Lormetazepam

and I also have:

20 X 30mg Temazepam
2 X 10mg/2ml Diazepam Amps
1 X 15mg/3ml Midazolam Amp

and also the usual:

Multivitamins
Herbal Teas
Diphenhydramide
Loperamide
Ibuprofen
Devils Claw
Radox Muscle Soak
3 Healthy Meals a day (if possible!)

and most importantly

A loving girlfriend to support me through this week. <3

The 100% opiate cold turkey begins tomorow (Monday AM)

I'm a bit nervous, but I'm sure with some will power and my 'cold turkey kit' I'll get through it!

Wish me luck!

Oli

P.S. After I'm clean I'm looking to go on a Naltrexone daily prescription and if I can get the money together an implant. Not because I think I'll relapse, but having the peace of mind that there would be no point in scoring, just gives me that extra insurance.

I think I will go on it for 3 months, then if I feel I need to another 3 months. I am basing this on, in the past, after being clean it takes me about 2 - 3 months to get over the PAWS. And I feel Naltrexone + Support (NA) meetings, etc will get me through the PAWS part.

Is clonidine prescribed for high blood pressure? And is there any OTC remedy for the hot/cold flashes? I've read that it's due to your blood pressure rising, but don't know of any OTC remedies....That is really the most annoying part of WD, that and the restlessness/anxiety.

Got my last ever bit of dope, having a little goodbye party. Gonna miss it, but it's gonna be good to be rid of it once and for all. It totally destroyed my life, but at the same time gave me the oppurtunity to look at things from a logical un-biased (no emotions) point of view. Love/Hate relationships never work properly anyway.

So goodbye opiates forever as from tomorow. I'm afraid the bad side of it massively outweighed anything good I gained from it. So it's goodbye forever from tomorow.

DustnRoses:

Clonidine does lower blood pressure yes, quote from wiki:

Clonidine treats high blood pressure by stimulating α2 receptors in the brain, which decreases cardiac output and peripheral vascular resistance, lowering blood pressure. It has specificity towards the presynaptic α2 receptors in the vasomotor center in the brainstem. This binding decreases presynaptic calcium levels, and inhibits the release of norepinephrine (NE). The net effect is a decrease in sympathetic tone.
I think you would more likely be prescribed it if you just tell the truth and say I am going cold turkey from an opiate addiction and one of the worst withdrawal symptoms for me is high blood pressure. Rather than saying I am after Clonidine just for my high blood pressure.

Clonidine, like Lofexidine, is a god send when going through w/d. It literally eliminates all the...
most annoying part of WD
.

And then perhaps ask some good benzos to help with the insomnia/reslessness (temporary, always say temporary when asking for benzos from a doctor)

Otherwise benzos are very easy to come by if you have access to the internet and a credit card/debit card/cash and access to western union office.

Good luck DnR.

Plain ole PC/Bali Kratom powder. After a oxy/hydro binge, I put the powder into 00 size capsules and take about 12. I taper them down over about a week and then just when I get a serious craving. For me, Kratom takes away the physical and psyc. W/D's. No insomnia or the dreaded restlessnes jitters.

PC Kratom is cheap and legal. 4oz's lasts me about a month. 2 "binges".

Yes man! Good luck and if you stay this determined you'll fly through...

tramadol/heroin eased suboxone withdrawl

I know I know it sounds all mixed up and wrong. But by smoking only .7 grams over 2 days stopping and taking 200mg tramadol 2x daily then down to 100mg 2 x daily then to 50mg all in 3 days and my w/d symptoms are gone except feeling extra tired in the morning.

It was the easiest w/d to kick after the combo of opiates; only 3 days of feeling mildly uncoforatable, not horrible. Suboxone w/d usually lasts 8-10 weeks for me, but I think by substituting a shorter actin opiate in the end and not extremely high doses I eased the come down.

Post an entry in the withdrawal coping thread if you want to discuss this. I may find it in a minute, but I'm somewhat busy ATM.

Edit- There ya go... Merged.

If your habit isn't overly absurd anyone should be able to alleviate almost all withdrawal symptoms with Loperamide Hcl AKA OTC Imodium AD. I was hanging out with one of my buddies earlier today who still uses pretty heavily and he was in a position where he had to get clean, he was starting to get pretty sick and eventually i realized i could end his suffering. Quick trip to the cvs and a five finger discount later i told him to take 8 pills, took some convincing but he finally did. 20-30 mins later he was ecstatic at how normal he was starting to feel, after taking a couple more he was practically high just as i felt the first time i used this god send.

Yes, clonidine is prescribed for high blood pressure.

Go to any normal doctor and tell him the truth, you need whatever he can give you to help with opiate withdrawal. He will give you at least clonidine and probably a couple other things.

I'm going to throw this out as it hasn't been mentioned in awhile... If you have at least a few days ahead of time to know you will be w/ding, I recommend getting kratom as an intermediate between "harder" drugs and sobriety. It works on opiate receptors so it certainly provides a good deal of relief from withdrawal... just use it as needed until you are fairly comfortable with not taking anymore. It really works wonders if it is available in your country (it is for most of the world, the biggest exception being Australia).

If you're thinking about using loperamide, I highly recommend using this instead if possible, as it actually does pass the BBB and bind to opiate receptors...

I failed at 34 hours in. It felt like forever, but it was only 34 hours. Gonna go on Subutex for a while I think. Hmmm I dunno what to do. I want out of this.

^Taper, man. You have the opiates available to just cut out a little bit at a time. Why not try that?
