Opioids Withdrawal coping techniques (Mega Thread)

Got prescribed some Diazepams today. Bloody 2mg's though! Took one this morning and do feel a lot less achey.

Really want to get prescribed some Lofexidine (Britlofex, UK version of clonidine, sort of), but I really doubt many doctors in this village have heard of it. A known junky approaching a doctor asking for a certain drug he's never heard of, and being succesful, is less likely than winning the lottery I reckon!

One other quick thing to recommend: Radox Muscle Soak bubble bath/bath salts!

^the doctor should have a PDA, PDR, computer etc that they use to check dosages and look up other drug info so you shouldn't hesitate to ask about lofexidine... especially since you are asking to use it for EXACTLY what its intended. I can't think of a single legitimate reason the doctor would be willing to prescribe diazepam and not an antihypertensive marketed for opiate withdrawal.

Yeah, I'll give it a go I suppose. I was in my pharmacy earlier and the guy who runs it (who happens to be a very very good guy) got out his medical book and highly recommended me attempting to get prescribed it.

It's just I have a feeling the doctor thinks I'm trying to get drugs to abuse them, when I asked to have alprazolam instead of diazepam, he said to me "Look are you telling me the whole truth here or do you actually want to get better?"

But as it doesn't have any abuse potential, I suppose he wont have any reason not to.

Lofexidine=clonidine. Very helpful for those damn chills and sweats! To me, that's the WORST part about withdrawal. One second, you feel like you're in an oven and the next second you're in a friggin beer cave at the Circle K.

Went to a new doc, asked for Lofexidine and asked to swap the diazepam for xanax. He said he'd 'play ball' and said I could have one or the other. Went for Xanax. But got another appointment with another doc at the clinic who will apparently prescribe me some lofexidine.

Btw,, the Xanax does wonders for w/d's

I was kicking at my parents' house once, and found (no bullshit) a syringe full of liquid ketamine i had forgotten about. Ketamine took EVERY single withdrawal symptom away due to it being a dissociative i guess. It only lasted a few hours, but i just tripped nuts and it took away that awful sense of dysphoria associated with dopesickness. it was very very pleasant. acid or any other trip makes the sickness worse though...

was on 200 mg liquid methadone daily treatment for heroin addiction when i got arrested and had to do 60 days in jail. So in jail they dont give you shit for withdrawl they just put you in 72 hour lock down to sweat it out. I was told to drink a lot of water, which i dont think it helps at all, but even if it doesnt, theres still the battle of mind over matter. I had the worst food, while being contained, with all the symtoms it is just a miserable thing to live through, It was a real life nightmare i was in.

I'd say hot showers, and long walks, and repetitive marijuana smoking and perferably i'd say choose suboxone. but now here i am having trouble getting off of 2 mg of suboxone. after reading this thread im gunna look up Kratom, and Immodium thanks.

wish i had blue light all the times i withdrew but most of that was yrs ago, things that did not work and made it worst for me nyquil, benadryl, alcohol , pot or speed of any kind (except coffee)

like the above poster i was arrested four yrs ago on a two hundred mg methadone habit, i didnt get shit from them only vistiril , but for some reason that was one of the easiest kicks i ever had . probably because i knew i couldnt get anything, and i drank water like mad , i didnt sleep but i had a cellie who was funny and she kept my mind occupied alot,

what i usually would use on the street was clonidine (a freaking godsend) a long acting benzo and not a huge dose i have kicked a xanax habit and i would rather withdraw from dope than xanax anyday, cut back on smokes, gatorade, immodium, magnesium for cramping one coffee a day worked for me i dont know why, read watch movies, stay isolated kepy phone of, grapeseed.

if you could buy suboxone you would be really good but for me i used to buy methadone and i would end up just taking all of it

nothing like milk or cheese which would make more phlegm in my throat either, alot of chicken noodle soup, motrin and for some reason for me the colder i am the more relaxed so i would constantly have airconditioning goodluck to anyone who needs it ashla

oh neurontin helped me to i dont know if it does everyone but it did me

i used to prefer alprazolam to diazepam because it packs more of a punch and hence is sortof more recreational... but now i prefer diazepam, mainly for its muscle relaxing properties... xanax is good , don't get me wrong.. i'm Rx'ed 3.5mg daily, but i'm also Rx ed 10mg valium daily, and granted i need to take more than that to feel relaxation, a lot more, and usually some booze too... but i find it far more enjoyable...

but 2mg diazepam/day=0.125mg of alprazolam... and the lowest dosage of marketed alpraz as far as i know is 0.25mg , so i presume you got prescribed that amount.. effectively giving you twice as much the equivalent dose...;)... great success!lol

just don't keep on taking benzos after your opiate w/d... which shouldn't last more than 2 weeks, otherwise you'll have an even worse addiction on your hands...

I live off xanax when I wd... I have had it not work before though. One time I was coming off fent, and I was chompin about 10+ bars per day. A secret that no one I know has tried is phenegrin/promethazine. It has allowed me to sleep off the worst of my wds. I take about 100mg or so, and just curl up and sleep for a couple of days. I wouldn't reccomend making a habit of it, but every once in a while, or if you are going to go through epic wds, it can really be a life saver.

Seco, just how bad of a habit did you have? I am looking into detoxing for a methadone maintenance patient as well as a Suboxone maintenance patient who are both considering OTCs, anti-psychs or Phenergan +/- OTCs like loperamide or benadryl.

Yeah, Coffee does seem to help a little. Weed helps at first but when the high wears off the WDs seem to come back worse. Benzos work great but if I'm detoxing then that means I probably don't have money. Bustin a nut helps with sleeping. Hot showers are awesome too. Alchohol helps but its very temporary. I tend to throw up very very easily when drinking during detox. That just makes things worse when ur sick from drinking on top of being sick from detox. The best thing would be benzos.

For me, benzos pretty much eliminate the withdrawal all together.. But like I said, If I am detoxing is means I am broke, so therefore I cannot afford any opiates let alone benzos.

4 X 0.25mg Xanax, 5 X 2mg Diazepam, 4 X 25mg Diphenhydramine, 2 bottles of Red wine, sorted me out nicely last night!

Parents were a little pissed off to find me passed out on the floor with empty blister packs, empty bottles lying around me and a minimal techno internet radio station blaring out, but oh well!

That time I was coming off about 300mg of oxy per day. Those guys are gonna have a far harder time than I did. I've jumped off subs too, it sucks worse actually. It's like the energizer bunny, it just keeps goin and goin. I actually ended up getting the fuck its bout a week in and started doing oxy again until I could get all the subs out, then just came off oxy again b/c it was easier.

i did this before with methadone the first time i was on it, i was on methadone for two yrs and i couldnt handle the withdrawal, so i went back to dope for a mth went to dtox and in five days was better, one of the nurses actually admitted to me that is the easiest way to quit methadone or sub, i am on suboxone now though way better than done, you couldnt pay me enough to go back to methadone

i am grateful for sub though i am a chronic pain patient and although it dont help much for the pain, at least im not fiending for opiates and running out of my scriot two weeks early ashla

ohh i forgot to mention that ibuprofen helps me alot. Coffee helps very very much. For suboxone withdrawal, a cup of coffee and 2 ibuprofen will have u at 80%.

^ Yeah, that is the tricky thing about suboxone withdrawal. It's not as intense but it is very prolonged so it gets to you. I swear I was detoxing for like 2+ months after being on subs for a year. The other day I did an 8mg sub over 3 days and I am detoxing for 2 weeks. It sucks. I would rather just tough it out for 3 days rather than go thru such a drawn out ordeal.

today was day 5 of opiate detox for me, and on hours 24-48 there was no way advil and coffee were helping me.

i could barely keep down water!

the worst part is, I used 60 mg of Oxy today, and I was JUST getting to feeling normal again.

addiction sucks.
