Dude, the cardiologist was like, even if you used a micron filter and filtered it 5 times, eventually after months or years of abuse your going to have damage to your heart and lungs. He was telling me how like, he's had people coming in with so much shit clotted in their heart from OC.

The doctor is wrong. As you may now realize, doctors will say anything, especially making facts up on spot, just to sound correct or smart. You'd be surprised how little one's ego can be once you graduate med school.
Micron filtering will remove talc, and any other particle which would be problematic. I have seen nor read anything that convinces me anything in OC is smaller than 0.22 microns.
Just get micron filtering supplies man.

Good looks, maybe he just wanted to scare me into not using it. Regardless I will no longer inject oxycontin, micron filter or not. It was just to scary bro.
Just thought i'd share my own botched-injection horror story.
So i've been an IV user for almost 5 years now, and when I started i read all the harm reduction stuff i could, so i know what to do and what not to do when it comes to injecting.. However a few months ago I just did NOT have any access to new, clean needles.. In my state you can just buy them at any ol' wal-greens or CVS, but I had some legal issues at the one in my town last summer, and a video tape was pulled that showed me buying some rigs and is being used as evidence against me now in a hypo possession charge... lame..
So anyway, I only had one rig left, and 3 bags of dope left. I cooked it all up and did it.. Now, this rig had been used easily 15+ times.. but the thing is, yeah it was dull, and i'm sure i did damage to my veins because of it, but the real problem was that the tip was SO old that when I went to pull it out, the tip BROKE OFF!! So there I am, with 3 bags of dope and a needle tip floating around somewhere in my arm in the crux of my elbow..
And i'm almost embarrassed to admit that the story gets even worse from here... I figured it wasn't ALL the way in the vein, since I could feel it, and I was still alive, it wasn't moving anywhere yet.. So i did a quick google search and found out how serious the situation was.. But unfortunately I don't have health insurance, and I sure as shit didn't want to goto the hospital for this if i didn't have to.. My girlfriend wanted me to, but I had her take me to a hardware store instead and bought the strongest magnet I could find, and some razor blades..
I got home and called a friend who I knew had a couple of grams of raw dope left and told her what I was about to do so she brought me some more and her last clean rig and I did it and got VERY fucked up.. And then i sterilized everything and proceded to tear the shit out of my arm trying to get at it.. The magnet didn't work at all, so I was just going at it with a razor blade and tweezers.. And as a side note, I've got to say what an AMAZING painkiller heroin actually is, I was at least 1.5cm into my fucking arm and I couldn't feel a thing, it didn't hurt at all..
But anyway, after almost an hour of trying (it took me a long time because i kept nodding out), i had only managed to work the needle tip deeper and deeper into my arm every try.. So finally I went to a hospital out of town, had a minor out-patient surgery and a $5000 bill and got it removed.. the ER doctor told me that with how deep the cuts were and how long i'd been going at it, i probably would have bled out if i didn't come in when i did..
So there ya go, there's my horror story.. No more old fucking rigs for me!! It's not even so much the danger that bugs me, cuz shit ya know, i shoot fucking heroin, i risk my life at least somewhat everyday, but it's that.. shit, i can't afford $5000 fucking dollars!!

I think I may have cotten fever... (help)
So tonight, I got 2 bags of dope and brought it home to shoot up. I shot the first bag, had clean syringes, cottons and a cooker and lighter. I shot the first bag and felt pretty good. Not too high, but I felt decent. Nice rush, good clean high. The high begins to wear off so I decide to shoot my second bag. This time I use a different spoon. The spoon has been used before a few days ago and was sitting in my girlfriends purse. Before I used it, I rinsed it off with some water from a water bottle it appeared to be clean, but definitely not sterile I suppose. Then I reused my first rig from the first time I banged the dope tonight, which was only inserted one time. The dope was a little hard to suck up through the cotton, but eventually, very slowly I got all of the mixture into the rig. After hitting pretty quickly I felt a good rush and was and still am slightly high.
After the second IV, about 10 minutes later when the initial high wore off, I begin to feel feverish and like I have the chills. Now mind you, it's nothin too painful, but defnitely somethin I've never exerienced. Let me add that I am a chipper and only use a couple times a week at most and was not dope sick or feverish prior to shooting up, I also am 90% sure I have no absesses of infections in my arm, none that are visible and nothing that seemed like an issue previously to now. 20 minutes later I still feel a little buzz from the dope, but I also feel a bit feverish and uncomfortable, but nothing too too serious or painful.
I am thinking this is my first case of some minor cotton fever, considering the cotton I used from the q tips was a bit cheap and seemed like it broke apart easily. They were also sitting on top of a dresser for maybe over a week. I also think the spoon could have had some kind of bacteria on it.
The fact that I don't feel THAT awful makes me think this isn't a huge medical emergency. However, this is the first time I've experienced something like this and I am uncomfortable enough to notice.
So, does this seem as a pretty standard case of cotton fever? Or could it be something more serious? thanks for reading and I'd like some input from someone who is much more intelligent on the subject than me.

i've been injecting micron filtered suboxone that i store in a capped vial solution kept in the refrigerator.. ive only been using the crooks of my elbows and i would like to let them heal up.. wheres the next best spot? i have good veins on my forearms but from the past i learned that i bruise there easily even if i do everything perfectly.. where should i go to next? ive just been alternating crooks and i dont wanna kill those veins so i wanna give them time to heal for a bit. any help is appreciated

I find that veins just past the crook (toward the hand) can be easy to hit. Also there's a spot right above the crook where a few veins meet.

EDIT: I looked at the vein map on the 1st page and im having trouble figuring out which one is the crook.. is it the Basilic vein or the Cephelic vein? im just having trouble with the angle the picture.
If i had to guess i would say Basilic.

Hey guys! I'm new and this is my first post... So hello!
Anyways I have been using IV heroin for like 2 weeks and I inject in my foot so it's not visible... I haven't had any issues lately but I now have a soft small red spot that is sensitive to touch and it can slightly ache... Should I be worried? It's small and maybe I missed a vein last night?

Do some upper body muscular exercises to help your veins protrude.
Everyone has veins up and down their forearms.
There is no "melting" involved.
After removing the coating, you mix the contents with water. You filter and inject. Pretty straightforward.
Use a heat compress (run a towel under lukewarm water, then apply it to the inflammation). It sounds like you may have slipped out of the vein a little when doing your shot.

Just keep an eye on it. If it changes color, gets more inflamed, more painful etc...make sure you go get medical assistance. But if it gets less inflamed, less painful, and returns to normal flesh color you should be fine.
