No problem, we were all new once :).
 
Venous blood can also be lighter than normal if you're dehydrated. If you're an IDU, make sure you are drinking enough water. This helps ensure that the thick, dark red ploom is a sign you're in a vein.

That, or just be very aware of your body and know when you're in a vein.
 
hey i have a quick question, ive been shooting for about two months now, and i buy from about three different people max, well now two due to my question. One of my long time dealers who is also the same guy who started me on shooting goes out of town to get his dope from a mexican (Tar heroin) but anyways my problem is that his and only his shit seems to give me really really severe hives within a minute or two of shooting it, not only do i become covered in hives from head to toe, but my breathing becomes extremely restricted, it also seems that the more ive done the worse the symptoms have become. The breathing has become so restricted that i have even considered callin 911 in fear that i am going to die. So my question is, does anyone think it must just be something the dope is cut with that i have an allergic reaction to? because not one other persons dope does anything even remotely close to that to me..... i asked him about it personally, but he is convinced that i must have just missed the vein or something, but no i am certain that i did not, because im not stupid and i have experienced the pain of missing the vein and it is not a feeling that i could overlook more than once. So any ideas or suggestions would b greatly appreciated, and for the record i just decided to completely stop buying his shit all around due to the fact that getting high is not worth going to hospital over and most certainly not worth dying over, so anyone and everyone please reply, thank you.
 
i shot up 8 bags yesterday and had trouble finding a vein. i did eventually and got two GREAT shots with 4 bags in each. I never missed a shot, always made sure i registered, i just had to poke around a lot to get it.

i wake up now and there are a lot of tracks on both of my arms and one of them is a bit soar. nothing serious at all, im just wondering if you think these will go away?

this is only my 4th time shooting and the marks are where i went in, didnt register and pulled out.

What kind of question is this? You stabbed yourself with a needle and are curious because its sore?

Yes they will go away. Don't re-use needles, ever. Prep with alcohol, hold a cotton ball on it afterward and apply an anti-bac ointment once a day and you will not get track marks.

Hold a hot compress on them and use ointment to make them go away faster. Next time don't re-use needles even once. Even if you miss don't try again with the same needle and keep stabbing around, get a fresh one and back load it and use the new needle the next time. Go to an exchange or buy 10 packs from pharmacies if you can) and use as small a gauge as possible- 30-31G is ideal for minimal damage. Most needles given out at exchanges I've seen are 27-28 which is a little too big. I could use 28s once in a while but the 27s are pushing it and there is nothing like a 31g.
 
Missed Hydromorphone shot, what do I do!?

So I got a 4mg hydromorphone (generic dilaudid) from somebody I know and it is imprinted M 4. I decided that I would try IV because dilaudid is good like that. I boiled the pill in a spoon, and used cotton to filter. The solution in the syringe was clear as day. Anyways immediately after shooting it, There was a bump on the site. I started feeling really great hah, but there was a bump on the site. Now i've heard of skin popping heroin, but not a pill. It is now about 3 - 4 hours later and the site looks absolutely flawless, it just feels bruised. Tomorrow morning it will probably appear bruised. Should I seek medical treatment immediately? Please somebody tell me what to do. How long should I wait? My only symptom as of now is it feeling bruised.

Sorry I can't really answer the question to well, but if all you have is a slight bruise I don't think you have to worry to much. If you search for "Missed shot" you'll find a bunch of threads about people missing. I've taken a bit from one thread and the reply was

Apply heat, give it time to go down, if it starts to turn red and swell and you see a red line going up your arm go to a fucking hospital lickedey split.
 
Do NOT heat your IV solution, there's no need.

You should have used a micron filter with generic Dilaudid.

I'm sure you'll be fine but who knows? If you aren't in pain you are likely OK. Exactly how large is this "bump"? What gauge needle did you use?

Sometimes IVing pills without filtering with a micron filter can yield a small "bump" even if you make the shot.

First time shooting...

I have never shot up anything before but I decided that one day I wanted to. I smoke pot (who doesn't), I take Klonopin and Concerta every day as prescribed, I had my run with cocaine and blowing opiates. I had a 3 month long Ketamine binge and would consider that my drug of choice. I've smoked crack and had my run with mushrooms, LSD and other psychedellics including research chemicals. Basically I want to try everything once. I am 19 and weigh just over 100 lbs. I have very little tolerance to opioids. I have wanted to try everything once for the most part so I tried shooting morphine tonight. I shot 6 times upto 50 mg cooked up and did a damn good job. I have no marks but I'm nodding off. I'm having trouble staying awake. I feel really good and have no intention to try it again although I feel great, I'm paranoid that I did too much. I shot 4 times of roughly 12 mg at a time over the course of 2 hours, my last session was about 45 minutes. From someone who has shot morphine and is familiar with it, should I be worried? I'm not nodding off any worse than OC has made me feel if I blow too much. What should I look out for and how long will this last?

You are going to be all right. You spaced your doses apart (good call), and 50mg of morphine is not too high (it is equal to about 30mg of oxycodone). Make sure that you mind your breathing, and do not hesitate to get help if you have any difficulty with it.

Don't cook that up, it just dissolves more binders and nasty shit you don't want in you and don't shoot pills unless you are very careful and vigilant about filtering!
 
if you were going to OD it would have been within the first couple minutes of injecting. you sounds coherent and formed sentences (albeit with no paragraphs ;)) with no problem so it's safe to say you're ok and no chance of ODing. if you were to mix other depressants such as benzos, alcohol, GHB, etc then it may be a different story. i advise against this.

things to look out for are low heart rate, depressed breathing, fading in and out of consciousness.

a typical high from an IV dose of morphine will last anywhere between 2-4hrs hitting the plateau and fading out after that.

i'll merge this into the IV thread which has a lot of great info in there and remember to check out the OD directory in my signature which has links offsite to HR based sites dealing with injecting drugs safely. also search for the mega morphine thread.

great point, i dont know how i missed that. you don't want to cook any pills you prepare for IV because it only allows filler and binders disolve into the solution. ultimately you want to be using a micron filter for filtering as well.
 
IV misses

I'm new here so I don't know what etiquette for starting new threads is, but I just wanted to share this. I was just in the hospital and had an IV catheter in my hand. I was getting 4 mg of morphine (did almost nothing w/my tolerance, I need at least 20 for pain relief) and the nurse flushed the line with 5 cc of salt water first. Apparently the line came loose and I got 5 CC of salt water directly in the soft tissue of my hand. Now, I've missed or skin popped a few times in my life, even missed a tiny bit with coke once, but this was quite horrible. My hand puffed up so much and burned like crazy. 5 cc is a lot of fluid to miss. So, basically, I just wanted to know other peoples' experience with "missing". Also, do you just say "F" it and jam it in a muscle or a fatty area if you can't find a vein, or do you possibly even try to "plug" it? Just wondering as this experience reminded me of when I first learned to IV.
So, the lesson is when your nurse pushes something into you, tell them to go SLOW. Although it was a very cute nurse and I got to chat her up as she fixed everything, so it wasn't all bad.
