Do you Think there is Intelligent Alien Life?

We will not see intelligent aliens in our time.

there is no basis to say such a thing. considering the probable advanced nature of other species, they could potentially contact us at any given moment in human history and future with relatively equal probability.

The whole brouhaha over UFOs though? Absolute nonsense. Why would a civilisation able to traverse a galaxy be so incompetent to leave themselves vulnerable to detection by what must be unimaginably primative technology?

Funny though, read the earlier parts of the Old Testament it actually seems to be talking about some kind of extra-terrestrial visitation(s) so who knows?

Ever thought that some want to be seen on purpose? But yes, Ezekiel. Moses guided by the floating "pillar of fire"? And Enoch, very strange stories.

I think we will see an off-planet civilization have open contact with us during our lifetime. Hell, many races are working with various governments underground, so it would only make sense they'd overtly reveal themselves eventually.

an important consideration would be that if there is a highly intelligent extraterrestial life form that discovers our existence, would they even choose to reveal themselves to us? it would have dramatic consequences either way. for one thing; the human ego is not really good at accepting something that is absolutely more advanced then we are. i'd see us exploiting every possible avenue in order to make sure that that situation does not persist. would an advanced alien race want to get intermingled in that struggle for power? note that this would not have to mean all-out war, but the struggle will be there regardless, and very much determining and influencing our development. i don't think any intelligent race would reveal themselves to us unless we are more or less on par in terms of access and manipulation of certain categories in energy sources. i'd think that could be a general rule in some galactic code, to guarantee and preserve a species' own evolutionary autonomy in that fashion.

^ Star Trek called and they want the Prime Directive back ;)

I have no doubt that they exist and will expose themselves sooner or later.

Either that, or we will find them.

It could be both. ie. humans will sooner or later make a discovery that will point a direct finger at other intelligent lifeforms.

Who knows, our existence is just an elaborate puzzle to be solved by combating the natural tendency of disorder, or entropy, in the universe. Only when this puzzle is solved will we be able to look directly at the creator.

Ive found that Emanuel Swedenborg is an interesting read and I found this book called Life on other planets where he claimed to have traveled to other planets in our solar system and found spiritual beings there.

Robert Anton Wilson and Phillip K. Dick supposedly channeled "ET's" from Sirius at different points of their life.

John C. Lilly used to take massive doses of LSD and Ketamine in an isolation tank and he would go to other planes of reality, he supposedly met all kinds of beings from other civilizations, and galaxies he spoke of some of them as crazy-wise intelligence who's vibration was so strong he couldnt get very close to them because their vibrational rate was so high.

I think that in a universe that is 13.7 billion years old with
The Hubble Space Telescope estimating that there are hundreds of billions of galaxies in the universe (A recent German super-computer simulation estimates that the number may be as high as 500 billion) then there has to be other intelligent life out there. Some people who are working on string theory have proposed big bangs happening from other universes colliding into each other and if you go that deep into it if there are other universes there is other life.

John Lilly's contact with Extra-terrestrial beings is highly interesting I recommend the center of the cyclone, dyadic cyclone to everyone.

Aliens DO exist... according to one of my meth dealers, at least.

Apparently they abducted him one night and inserted a probe under his skin. He often tries to dig it out, without much success. :\

^Only because the mayan calender has accurately predicted many astronomical events, like eclipses, more efficiently than any other time keeping device, well up to the 20th century.

They may have visited earth millions of years ago and seen nothing of interest and didnt bother coming back.

If another extraterrestrial advanced intelligent race came here millions of years ago, especially if it took a long time to get here, why would they ever leave? As far as our race has seen with its own eyes, this planet is one of the few that can support life. Wouldn't this kind of thing be sort of a rare commodity galactically? What if a race could create a world system of workers on the surface? For that matter, how far would this race go to make sure those surface workers don't find out about them....

Funny how everyone is looking outward to the stars for ufos, when they should be looking underneath their feet, where entire civilizations are dug into the earth's crust. Cynically manipulating our world.

Want to know what 2012 is really about?

Exactly. They'd be intelligent to know that we humans we fuck it up somehow, and they likely wouldn't bother contacting us at all, or at least not overtly.

What?

Who's to say highly advanced races aren't already here, dug deep into our crust? People haven't really been able to dig very deep, so imagine what another spacefaring race could do. This would actually be the way to colonize a planet, because you'd be far away from the human scrutiny on the surface.

Look at humanity, there's many papers written up by NASA saying the only way we could colonize the Moon and Mars would be to dig underground bases, because of the inhospitable surface. Although, with our publicly limited technology, we wouldn't be able to dig very deep.

What if another race had laser drilling equipment, though, where they could just burn tunnels, and turn the walls into a hard glassy like substance. Would be very effective, anyways...

Just a thought on this evolving thread.

^when taking about things that cannot be proven there *is* no evidence, only imagination

And its funny to read how peoples conceptions about this subject are so limited to their current view of the world.

As if an entity that could have evolved over billions and billions of years to unlock the keys to the universe would be needing "laser drilling equipment" to avoid being detected. its just comically retarded.

I can imagine all sorts of things. I don't believe them without evidence because that's epistemically irresponsible. I can imagine that the claims of Scientology are true, but I don't accept them.

so you would have been one of those that deemed it 'epistemically irresponsible' to accept that the earth was anything but the unmoving center of universe, until Copernicus' theory suggested otherwise?

The idea of a heliocentric universe is a theory based on observable evidence, contradictory to existing theory, that necessitated a shift in paradigm. In the case of their being an vast underground alien conspiracy, there is no evidence at all to support the belief. There is a difference with a theory that is a good inference to the best explanation for the phenomena we perceive, and a theory that is based on pure imagination.
