^kroozer, it would be stored for just for a few days. Many of the chemical abstracts I've found quote its solubility in alcohol, so it shouldn't be such a bad thing, at least in the short term. I just wanted to make sure.
 
Mescaline crystal shelf life

I was recently fortunate to be given a gram of mescaline extracted from cactus. It was extracted roughly two years ago and has been kept in a glass vial but not refrigerated or the like. What effects can I expect? Is th quality likely to have degraded significantly?
 
It should be fine, if anything maybe a little less potent but dose normally & wait a few hours before re-dosing.
 
i have some 2C-B which has obviously absorbed a bit of moisture, im not too worried about degradation as its a PEA sealed in amber glass in a dark freezer, but why not be ass careful as possible and for the sake of accurate weighing i would like it to be totally dry. at this point the moisture has clumped it into little balls - does anyone have any ideas for drying it out a bit? i was thinking about heating it over a flame for a while but that worries me. i could also put the vile (capless) into a jar of dessicant...
 
You could break it up with a razor blade, spread it on a flat surface and put it in a jar with dessicant. A flame doesn't sound good.

Has it also changed color?

I use a large 2x3 inch desiccant package that might be contained in a micro-perforated plastic, or the plastic canister types salvaged from supplement purchases to fix the problem you have described, as well as to avoid significant clinging of the clumped material on the desiccant packaging. For smaller containers, I put them in a jar with the large desiccant freshly recharged, and it works quickly.
 
would storing liquid solutions with lets say 5-meo-mipt in vacutainers a good idea?
does it need to be in a ref? or would a cool dark place be good enough?
 
Tryptamines in liquid is a bad idea. They should be kept dry, away from light, and cool. I've read lots of people storing tryptamines in solution only to have them degrade far more rapidly than if they were kept in dry powder state.
 
right now i have mine in a glass vial, would it be best to keep it that way? even if it only occupies 1/10th or less of the vial?
 
Yup that's fine. If it's not a brown glass vial wrap it in tin foil to keep light out of it.

Three things that cause things to degrade are Moisture, Heat, and Light. Oxygen too but to prevent it from being in contact with oxygen requires you to fill the vial with an inert gas such as nitrogen or argon before sealing it which is tricky. Most don't bother with that. Just keep it away from moisture, heat and light.
 
In terms of the moisture, couldn't one just use silicone satchels (the kind of satchels that are in new shoe boxes)? That would remove the moisture from the air however what I want to know would be, would the silicone react in anyway with the LSD (or the other chemical you're trying to keep)? Wiki says that it is "largely inert". I would think it would be fine but thought I better ask. :)

You can just fill it to the brim.

Yeah but you should dry them first. If they are silicagel, leave them in the oven for a quarter of an hour or so at about 150 Celsius.
 
Would sterile saline solution be a good liquid storage option? I can't think of a reason why not, but I thought I would run it by the more experienced first.
 
If you are going to use prepared saline, try to find something with preservatives in it. You don't want your drugs growing cooties while in storage.
 
I don't see why it shouldn't work, but when you introduce the compound into the solution it's likely that contaminants are lifting with. Then you better see after it that every microbe that got in there is killed again and getting every last one of them can be a huge pain I imagine.
Hence the preservative suggestion I guess...

I have some 5-MeO-DiPT in solution that will probably degrade relatively fast now, but I'm not going to weigh 5 mg doses with my scale and I only had 40 left. Oh well I better just finish it quickly! ;)
 
Do multiple layers of plastic foil, aluminum foil and scotch tape wrapped tightly protect against humidity?

My ideal solution is 75% DH2O and 25% Ethanol to prevent any possible bacterial/fungal growth.
Tryptamines are a bit different I'm afraid, and those tryptamines subsituted at the 4 position are notoriously unstable. If I recall, the fumurate salts have the longest shelf life.
 
Will aluminum foil contaminate lsd if stored in an airtight container?

Cuz i had a hit of bomb acid go bad on me in just aluminum foil, if stored in an airtight container should it be wrapped in anything or just put in the container by itself?
