I'll allow you to take the claim as being more violent; it's not really my thing anyway.
I'm actually writing an article on what NJ is and how it has influenced the country. It's inspired by a book written on NJ's history, and how NJ's historical accomplishments have been overshadowed because it is so close to NYC. That, and my Texan boyfriend thinks Texas is God's gift to the world. Whatever.
Anyway, if anyone has any sources I could use, that would be great. I have Jersey's history covered, but I'll still take anything on that; I am looking more for cultural influences. For example, there is a whole group of writers who left NJ, only to make movies about it. Ex. Zach Braff ("Garden State"), Kevin Smith (''Jersey Girl''), Todd Solondz (''Happiness''), and Tom McCarthy (''The Station Agent''). So, if anyone can help me... what is so great about NJ? What has it done for its country? What seperates us from other states and creates our unique identity? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
