Good tasting alcohol? Impossible?

I notice you didn't mention pre-mixed drinks... I think I get why.. But (I'm sure you already know) there's whiskey and cola.. what about that?
 
Well, I like a warm shot of morphine, but I dont stick myself with needles unless it gets me high.

People would not insufflate lines of cocaine unless it got them high, and I'm sure they love the taste.

I'm curious if its the same with alcohol. They love the taste because they have taught themselves to.

In some cases, yes, but not all. Why can't you accept that some people actually drink because they enjoy the taste of what they are drinking? Not everyone who drinks does it to get drunk.

Right. My mom is very much one of those people who drinks wine and beer for the taste, and will go to tasting for this purpose.

She doesn't get drunk or drink regularly at all, she just tried them out like one would sample food.

I got ya; saying "why can't you accept..." was a bad thing to say. I realized it after I posted it but was too lazy to click EDIT.

But yeah, personally, 99.999999% of the time I drink to get drunk, but before that, I could just drink one beer or a glass of wine with dinner/whatever just for the taste.
 
^ Even when I was in high school, I drank a lot of times just a beer or two just for the taste. I never really liked getting drunk, but I would still do it.
 
I like me some scotch. I found a cheap ass brand 'old smuggler'. Never had the money to buy the overly expensive shit. I think it tastes good straight up or on the rocks. It is a little overpowering, but I always savor that first sip of scotch/bourbon/whisky. The other spirits all taste like ass or poisoned candy IMO.

I like good ales too. Sierra Nevada is a my standby, wish I could still find bridge port IPA. As far as lagers go, Grolsch has to be my favorite. Millers/Bud/Coors I'll drink, it doesn't taste bad or good (sometimes refreshing though).

But, I do believe that alcohol is an acquired taste.
 
mos def an acquired taste. gotta get that appreciation for it, it comes with maturity.

shit, if you are trying to get the effects of alcohol without tasting it then beer bongs and vodka enemas may be your 'cup of tea'.

its an acquired taste i used to not like beer then a few years past and i just simply fell in love with beer

and for alcohol yeah most of them are strait nasty but if you ever get the chance try henny mixed with hypnotic its fucking good but its one of them drinks you ether love or hate mix 1 part henny to 3 parts hypnotic

they taste like a fruite juice mix. i would say its the best tasteing drink ive ever tried.
 
guiness is the best tasting alcoholic beverage imo that is somewhat inexpensive.
malt liquor tastes awesome.
most beer tastes pretty good.
expensive, gourmet beer is awesome, but as the end result i'm looking for is a buzz, i'd rather get cheaper shit and get more buzzes for my money.
hard liquor i like vodka the best, need a chaser though unless it's something like watermelon schmirnoff. i drink hard liquor straight, hate mixed drinks.
captain morgans tastes great, its popular for a reason.
buttershots taste like candy, goldschlagger is easy to get down.
i do NOT like whisky or tequilla. shit is nasty to me.

edit: try a "scorpion bowl" at a good chinese restaurant. sometimes they serve huge ones and you'll get a decent buzz.
 
Port wine is extremely tasty, they don't call it a dessert drink for nothing.

I would drink the shit out of it even if it were non-alcoholic, as long as that did not affect the flavor.

The whole line of Pucker flavors are good, then you got coconut rums like Malibu, Orange and Lemon flavored Grey Goose - shit, even straight plain Grey Goose tastes like water - Bacardi Limon, Orange, Razz, etc., etc. Some whiskeys go down really easy, too. All of these you can drink straight and/or chase them with some Pepsi, Coke, or orange juice.

Then there are mixed drinks. Malibu and orange juice, vodka and cranberry, rum and Coke, DiSorono and Coke, White Russians, Mudslides, Margaritas (delicious), and so on.

And of course, there is beer. Once you get used to it, it tastes fucking awesome. I drink beer with my dinner in place of soda, milk, or water. It most certainly is an acquired taste, but once you acquire it, you can't get enough.

But let's not forget about wine. Good wine is incredible.

So see? There's plenty of ways to enjoy alcohol.

I 2nd that... Especially the wine part. I love wine. And I genuinely think a lot of beer tastes good, like 6/7 said, its all relative.

There are quite a few lite mixed drinks out there that cover up the ethanol taste quite well and Id be willing to argue they dont taste any different than a sweet fruity drink you'd buy from your local 7/11. Maybe alcohol just ain't yo' thang.

i like K cider i dont think you can get it anyware other then the UK but its %8.4 and tastes like nice bitter green apples mmm. liquers usualy taste like crap tho i used to drink vodka stright from the bottle in school now i cant even stand the smell of it! some white wines taste nice with a splash of orange juice but with alcohol you do get what you pay for
 
Just get any type of sweet drink, I like pina coladas and i think beer tastes like piss, I found out that smirnoff ice has the same alcohol content as beer so i drink that a lot because it tastes like juice. Most of the time though I Will just get a 40oz of malt liqour. Old English is the best colt45 is ass but once your drunk beer and liqour just taste a lot better.
