I have tried many types of alcohol. Good, bad, whatever. I cannot find any kind of alcohol that tastes good. I think people are kidding themselves.

I have bought expensive scotch, beer, wine, champagne... it all tastes horrible.

Is it that people really like the high and are fooling themselves? Are there any kinds of alcohol that really taste good?

I don't know man, gin is some good stuff. I love the aromatic citrus/juniper flavor notes.
Beer is great, i don't drink it for its effects, just the refreshing hoppy flavor.

It's all a taste issue. Some people just don't like the taste of alcohol, some do. For instance I've met very few wemon that like beer, but along with myself, alot of my friends genuinely enjoy drinking a good brew, and we often agree and disagree with what we think tastes good or bad. Were not all just saying we like all beer.

Alot of times with hard liquor I find its an acquired taste, and usually the top shelf stuff is the only way to learn to appreciate it.

With that said, yes, obviously people drink alcohol they don't enjoy the taste of for the recreational effects (I know I have ;)) and in general I wouldn't say alcohol tastes particularly good.

Gross generalization. There's plenty of good tasting alcohol. Well, good is also a relative term. Sometimes it's not so much about the alcohol but what you mix it with. Alcohol itself isn't meant to taste good all the time, but there are some that taste fine.

The whole line of Pucker flavors are good, then you got coconut rums like Malibu, Orange and Lemon flavored Grey Goose - shit, even straight plain Grey Goose tastes like water - Bacardi Limon, Orange, Razz, etc., etc. Some whiskeys go down really easy, too. All of these you can drink straight and/or chase them with some Pepsi, Coke, or orange juice.

Then there are mixed drinks. Malibu and orange juice, vodka and cranberry, rum and Coke, DiSorono and Coke, White Russians, Mudslides, Margaritas (delicious), and so on.

And of course, there is beer. Once you get used to it, it tastes fucking awesome. I drink beer with my dinner in place of soda, milk, or water. It most certainly is an acquired taste, but once you acquire it, you can't get enough.

But let's not forget about wine. Good wine is incredible.

So see? There's plenty of ways to enjoy alcohol.

The human taste buds generally do not favor ethanol.

I guess I'm not human then. My taste buds beg for it.

i dont like the effects or taste of alcohol. the high makes me feel tired and stupid.

Then it's just not for you. Millions of Americans, and millions more people word-wide completely disagree with you.

i understand that. i was just curious if there is a type i have not tried that i would dig on occasion... because i dig the notion.

i like beverages that taste good :)

i feel left out when people around me are drinking and im not.

I'm sure there is. I could help you out if you told me what you have already tried and did not like.

P.S. Try no to double post. Use the EDIT button to add to a previous post if no one has responded yet.

^ Oh yeah, I've had Everclear and "moonshine" before and it's fucking disgusting. When I think "alcohol" I think something I can walk into a liquor store and buy off a shelf (except Everclear, obviously). But then there is also shit like Mohawk and 5 o'clock which is a disgrace to alcohol and tastes like what alien piss would probably taste like, but those don't count since they are only sold so people who can't afford real alcohol can still get drunk.

ive have had champagne that i liked.. but im not sure what kind it was. something without a heavy alcohol bite.. and fruity.

Well, vodka and cranberry comes to mind right off the bat. Cranberry juice masks the taste of the vodka very well if mixed properly. You can find recipes for that and every other drink imaginable online. There was this one really fruity drink I had at my brother's wedding, I was so drunk though I can't remember what it was called. It was vodka and had like a mango/banana/fruit punch flavor to it. It was delicious. Lets see...what else, there's Margarita's, that you already know of. They taste really good and hide the alcohol well.

You can also buy the lemon flavored Jones Sodas, mix that with Bacardi Limon, that's really good. Like I said in my other post, Malibu coconut rum and orange juice is good, vodka and orange juice is good, pretty much any clear liquor and orange juice is good, especially Grey Goose L'Orange and orange juice.

Any of those, if made properly, are really good.

Get mixed drinks. I personally love strawberry margritas, and chocolate martinis.
