Good tasting alcohol? Impossible?

Most of it's an acquired taste. First sip of beer I had I almost puked. Now, I love beer. Budweiser and other piss water like that..is bad. Tastes like nothing. Now malt liquor like Mickeys, Colt 45..etc..is awesome.

Maybe you'd like dark beer? New Castle, Guiness, stuff like that? Dark beer is a lot different tasting then regular.

Liquor is pretty nasty in any form. Vodka though..I love. If I have extra money then Absolute is the way to go. If I'm poor like usual, Popov is fine. Vodka with any kind of juice. I had a pint of Popov and a half gallon of tangerine juice from Trader Joe's..great.

Just have to get used to it. Try Mikes Hard Lemonade, Smirnoff, or a wine cooler if you can't do anything else.

this is true. of course it's possible to mix alcohol with other things to create drinks that taste good to some people and then of course there is the association that occurs when people drink habitually between the taste of the drink and the reinforcing properties of alcohol that leads people to believe they enjoy the taste.

however, if alcohol was not psychoactive, it would never have caught on as a flavoring agent. the only reasons people drink it are the ones i mentioned above.
 
i think champagne is delcious and a cold corona with a lime is one of the things i cannot say no to in this world. however, straight hard alcohol tastes like shit. i won't do shots because the high is just not worth the taste.
 
1 or 2 shots of lime flavored Smirinoff vodka mixed with coca cola

I mixed these two in a drunken stupor on New Year's Eve and it is now my favorite mixed drink.

Also, Malibu rum with Dr. Pepper tastes like vanilla soda to me...

Then of course you have your Long Island Iced Teas, when mixed properly they are arguably the best of mixed beverages. mmmm...

I agree. I have tried some nice champagne. I just don't know what they were, and not all champagne is good.

I want to know some good champagne by name.
 
^ I think at this point you should give up on the champagne (and beer and other things of that naturea), at least for now, and you will find many many tasty and easy to drink mixers. Quite a few people have recommended recipes already, and surely we could tell you other mixed drinks that are easy to make and don't carry any disgusting alcohol taste, yet still gets you drunk.

Hehe no, people aren't "fooling themselves" :)

Everyone has their own individual set of tastebuds, therefore their own taste preferences. Some people love sweet flavours, others prefer salty/savoury flavours, others prefer citrus etc etc.
Some people love the taste of alcohol.
You don't seem to like it, and that's just your preference.

As a side note, I have found that some of the more expensive drinks can be less palatable than some of the cheaper ones. So more money doesn't necessarily mean better taste.

But again, each to their own!! :D
 
There is some kind of alcohol that I dislike but i love the taste of good beer :)

My favorite cocktail is the "White russian" : 1/3 kahlua (coffee liquor), 1/3 vodka, 1/3 milk and some ice on top of it... Yummi :)

My mother likes that, I haven't sampled it yet though.

Some good beer like Heineken, Warsteiner or Grolsch always tastes great when cooled down to the right temperature, wine is nice as well... I still have a good Cabernet Sauvignon from Chile bottled in 2006.
Then there is Champagne, Mumm or Baron Fuente is good while not to pricey. :)

Liquor is really an aquired taste IMO, but a Four Roses Bourbon Whiskey or a bottle of Chivas Regal are good Whiskeys. Rum is good as well but the best drink there is is Vodka IMHO, Smirnoff #21 or #55 or Eristoff is something I always have around. :)

Ever stopped to think people have a whole different set of taste buds to you? I For one can't stand most whiskeys, though i'll drink shit like sambuca/perno/vodka like water hah.
 
I fucking love alcohol. My favourites are:
Champagne, White wine, Red wine, Coronas, Pure Blonde, Gin & Tonic, Kahlua & milk, Baileys & Milk, and I could go on forever about all the martinis I like.. also some mixed drinks such as Lemon Ruskis
I also won't turn down a shot - not my favourite but I appreciate them
Straight apple vodka and Tequila shots are great.
But I am borderline alcoholic so.. this all makes sense ;)
