I see my psychiatrist in 2 weeks, will inquire about a low dose abilify ( 2-5 mg) to help my anhedonia and low motivation. Read many studies that showed it helps in low doses. Basically abilify at 10 mg or more per day acts as a full antipsychotic blocking dopamine but in low doses between 2-5 mg it acts as a partial agonist meaning it increases dopamine in parts of the brain where it is low and reduces dopamine in parts of the brain where it is high unlike 10 mg or more where it blocks all dopamine.
I have waited 16 painful months for my motivation , anhedonia and other cognitive symptoms to lift but sadly it did not and I'm not waiting 2 more years rotting at home just to feel 20% better which is why i'm inquiring about abilify , might even add on wellbutrin too.
