2017 Trump Presidency Thread

of course he doesn't have evidence of anything--it's straight trolling, then a run back to Reddit. Who would gloat about moving to the US for citizenship, a process that could take a decade? Someone who pretends to like being hated.

I have evidence of Obama releasing 5 Taliban members to free a deserter, can I say that?

That's an interesting case actually. I don't quite understand the guys reason for deserting his post, and I think his belief that no-one would come looking for him is implausible, but I don't really think Trumps comments on the matter have been wise.

Yes, that happened ("deserter" is debatable).

OK, now what, Obama is a traitor sekrit muslin he created ISIS with his evil thoughts, we must repeal Obummercare and the capital gains tax? Its AM radio rehash.

ETA: Swillow, there was a pretty good radio program about Bowe Bergdahl that I am blanking on, but will get later. TBC, the program (and I) aren't saying he didn't walk away from his post, but the motivations are important for his sentencing, and it's weird and fascinating--the guy did spend five years as a Taliban captive, at least two confirmed escapes and recaptures.

They eventually call it schizoaffective disorder, and that he had a delusion like in bipolar mania. He disagrees. His trip was anti-military but pro-US, not some Homeland-style conversion. I think he had useful intel. So, what do you with the guy? I think the law says he can be shot on the spot.

It's very true that Obama failed to honor United States soldiers and military personnel who died in the wars he continued or started...
this is simply utter bullshit.

Trump finally comments on soldier deaths in Niger; falsely knocks Obama over his responses to dead soldiers

Barack Obama, during his term in office, wrote letters and made calls to families of killed Americans, according to former administration officials. He also made frequent visits to the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center to spend time with wounded troops.

George W. Bush also wrote letters to families of troops killed in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, which began during his tenure.

lol - another travel ban blocked.

For a self-proclaimed deal-master, trump appears to be pretty impotent when it comes to implementing his agenda.
Pretty staggering, considering the republicans control both houses of congress.

:)

Did he really call himself a deal master? I mean I don't know for sure but, Trump strikes me as the kinda guy who would make a TERRIBLE negotiator of any kind.

Negotiation, getting people to agree with you, getting them to do what you want without forcing them too... You gotta understand how they think and sympathize with them. Know how to accept compromise. All qualities that are the antithesis of everything I've seen of Trump.

Trump strikes me as someone who uses force and power to get his way. Not social skills and understanding people.

dudes a billionaire for a reason. got millions of republicans to vote for him after he openly said 20 years ago that republicans were idiots in an interview. said if he ever ran for president hed run republican. guy capitalized on all of the racism in america by making all of those anti immigrant claims that he hasnt acted on. hes one hell of a manipulater. not really a negotiater

^ agreed

Well, the book "the art of the deal" has his name on the cover. It was ghost-written for him.
But yeah, hopeless bluster isn't synonymous with "deal" making.

I'm just glad to see this unconsitutional sham get knocked down by the courts once more. The "travel ban" is disgraceful.

The name of his business book is The Art Of The Deal. So yeah he says he is a master negotiator.

There's a big difference between getting people to vote for you by saying you'll give them whatever they want, and trying to get them to agree to something they don't want.

Winning votes involves the former. Negotiating to get law passed as president is more the latter.

We are talking about using persuasion to get people to agree to shit they don't or didn't like. Very different to capitalizing on what people already like.

You know if you want someone who can read people and understand their emotions and get them to agree to shit they don't like, get a junkie. We are world class at it.

yes we are. dont think ive met the person who i cant turn to my point of view in a face to face conversation. you read a face interpret body language. if you know what to look for and how to manipulate it to your purposes you can do anything. manipulation is negotiations big monster of a sister. a moral person negotiates and makes concessions. others manipulate the mind to take what they want. wolves among sheep... and there are alot of sheep nowadays

It's not a good thing. I've had so many times where I've conned loved ones into giving me money and looked back at it in a mix of awe and disgust. Thinking about how I turned the very things that should have been reasons NOT to trust me into reasons TO trust me. How I've gotten them to offer money like it was their idea to start with without even having asked for it. How utterly convincing I could lie. How I could use previous lies I'd eventually been caught out on to get people to believe future lies. Twisting everything and anything to my advantage in subtle and profoundly devious ways. And I remember my close friend/running partner and how I'd see him doing exactly the same thing. How we would talk about how to go about manipulating our relatives to get money from them. He was just as good at it as I was. For years we'd run around stealing from people, conning people, doing whatever we had to do to get enough money to score that day.

I felt disgusted with myself, so did he. But we rarely ever talked about it. We both knew it was wrong and that we hated doing it, but that we weren't gonna stop and it hurt to think about all the pain we were bringing into the world. It hurts even more now that I'm trying again to get clean.

Me and most junkies I've known. We are artful, master liars and manipulators. It never ceases to amaze me what people are capable of when they're desperate enough. The profound ingenuity, brilliance, and amorality.

It's nothing to be proud of, it's horrible. Something I'd often feel ashamed of is how I'd developed a very impressive skill for understanding people, reading them and knowing how they felt, knowing what they needed to hear to get them to do what I wanted. And how I could have been using those skills to help people, but I was using it to hustle money for my drug habit.

Anyhow, I don't see Trump as the kind of person to do that. He doesn't get what he wants that way. He uses power to get what he wants. Either negatively by using fear, intimidation, etc. or positively by offering something he can provide. For him it's about having power over people. He strikes me as the kinda person who totally loses it whenever he feels his power isn't absolute. Junkies, especially heroin addicts, I've found they tend to be used to not having any power at all, but tend to be emotionally sensitive, intuitive people. So they use that to get what they want instead.

When you get a chance sometime read up on some of trumps real estate "deals". And then his side ventures. His tv show is his only success.

Trump can't even negotiate a tie cli

Obama care sabotage itself as it was a failed failure doomed to fail and deliver single payer. Besides, the payments were unconstitutional, even NYT quotes a republican who points this out....in the last paragraph.

Trump tweets about Obamacare "imploding" after decision to halt subsidies

it takes a special kind of cynical, mean-spirited asshole to deliberately sabotage something then turn around and immediately say it's 'imploding' and he can fix it.

what a total douche.

Some feel that they are getting a better deal with how things are now, and reform will make things worse for them. Longer waiting times, worse quality medical facilities.

Far as I can tell it's mostly wealthy assholes. Not sure they're exactly wrong though, if you can afford it you can get access to better quality health care than just about anywhere else in the world. If you can afford it. If you can't, you're likely gonna be worse off.
