2017 Trump Presidency Thread

How do you like your state insurance regulations no longer covering you?

Because that's what "buying across state lines" means. Insurance could always sell across state lines. The Republicans just want them not to be held accountable to the laws of the state they sell insurance in.

Ugh so a state like Idaho could create a no rules area for insurers, like Delaware for credit companies?

Could it perhaps be my post you were referring too? It’s still there it didn’t disappear, it’s the second last post on the page before this one. And I did use the word “groups” a lot. I had considered that you might have been directing it towards me but I dismissed it because if it was referring to my post I would have mocked you for totally missing the point. And I didn’t wanna do that unless I was sure you were referring to me.

Yeah it was yours jess. You cited alisdair's question/reply to Mr. Centauri, who's also a fan of grouping people. It's actually funny now, because your sincere tone, comes off as snarky if you mentally change authors (and I'm less than sober).

But terribly sorry to confuse you with that smooth cowboy. But as a response to the question it sure sounds like your answer is "meh, we're all alike, all greedy." the question was roughly, "how do you, AC, not call Rep. fucking millions of people just to get a lower tax bracket immoral?"

But maybe there's a diff. question in there I also missed. I'm stuck with my goddam jitterbug phone, my powers are diminished.

I'm doing this on my phone so I don't want to use quotes and bother with cutting and pasting but I was interested in the news that a Fox poll found the Alabama Senate race tied. But further research shows that poll to be an outlier because it did not screen for likely voters and therefore polled a larger pool of people than is likely to show up on Election Day. Most polls show Moore to have a small but consistent lead among likely voters.

The fact that it's that close is pretty amazing. I live outside Birmingham and I can tell you Moore is getting absolutely pounded in the local press right now. He was divisive to begin with but this charity corruption thing is killing his wholes some image. His son constantly getting arrested isn't helping either. I still think he wins but it will be by a single digit number

Roy Moore is that racist uncle you want to beat the shit out of on Thanksgiving. I just volunteered today to canvass for his senate opponent Doug Jones. If you guys have any spare change Jones badly needs money. To win he needs to outspend Moore 3 to 1.

I don't have a whole lot of spare change to throw around but I just gave Doug Jones fifty bucks. He deserves at least that much for seeing justice done decades after the fact when he got convictions for those two scumbags still living that bombed the 16th St. Baptist Church.

Yes. That's what Republicans mean when they talk about selling across state lines.

If Idaho wants to allow insurance companies to (say) cap your insurance payout at $30k, they could. $30k doesn't go that far for a serious illness or accident.

Good stuff guys :)
It's nice to see people getting involved.

Thanks! Ill make sure it's put to good use! The 16th Street Baptist Church is one of the most humbling places I have ever been. You can feel the spirit of those girls when you tour the basement. If anyone ever finds themselves in Birmingham the civil Rights museum an the church are must see attractions. They actually have the cell MLK Jr was in when he wrote letters from the Birmingham city jail at the museum. It's humbling

You would be surprised how effective door to door campaigning is. When Buddy Dyer (now Orlando mayor) was running for attorney general of Florida in 2000 I was knocking on doors with him and some big shirtless redneck opened the door and Dyer introduced himself (with his southern drawl) as his state senator and candidate for attorney general. The guy's response was "well no sheeeit..." Afterwards Dyer told me, "that guy's probably a vote for us" so never discount the power of canvassing.

A billionaire pimp sabotages working americans' affordable healthcare plan, and people support the creep.

I can't believe he got rid of those subsidies and didn't even have to get congressional approval! Now, they have some kind of bill to keep Obamacare around for two years and are planning to scrap it. Sure, it might not be the best but at least it provides people with insurance, something that was an improvement over the past. It really just makes no sense why they'd want to get rid of that. Don't they realize that this is going to just lower their approval ratings (including Trump's) and pretty much ruin any chance of re-election?

I find it amazing after 147 pages there is still to this page almost nothing but crying and snarky obvious statements...
nobody is crying. people aren't 'crying' simply because they post an opinion with which you disagree.

Alasdair is the kind of people we want immigrating, it's the penniless homeless, TB infected, extremist psychopathic, non-integrating sloths that we want to gtfo.
now who's crying?

see how annoying that is?

:\
