I Just Bought a Bufo Alvarius...Does Anyone Else on BL Have One?

The bad thing about these toads is that apparently you can only get the venom every 6 weeks. I guess that rules out the toad venom farm idea. You can also only get about 65 mg per milking. You would need a whole lot of toads to make any money off them. I guess their only value is for people who want to test out what 5-meo-DMT is like without actually having to find and buy it. From what I've read it's pretty overwhelming but maybe a very low dose would be okay.

Yes, it's about as potent as 5-meo-dmt (5-10mg vaporized), but the effects are pretty different.

At normal recreational doses 5-meo-dmt obviously has NO significant MAOI effects at all.

Yes, but that's 65-70 mg 5-MeO-DMT at 5-15% by weight so total venom weight is 1/2 gram or so.

Oh right, I didn't specify that I meant 65 mg 5-meo-DMT. I wonder what else the venom is composed of. Probably proteins of some sort. Might be good to purify the dried venom to get rid of the other stuff. Presumably proteins wouldn't be soluble in organic solvents.

Honestly the only shock I've felt in this thread is all the bad press for 5-meo-dmt, I've had a few dabbles with it that I'd rate as some of the best peak experiences of my life. Letting go and feeling the bonding forces holding my constituent particles relax so that I expand to occupy all available space was fantastic.

Anyway, those frowning over their half-moon spectacles and looking down their noses should have a closer look at their own lives, we're all fucking complicit round here - the computer you are looking at is composed of various rare resources and represents the stolen labour of thousands of people, not to mention the energy embodied in its production and the damage that is caused by running it. Being part of the market for illegal/on the verge of illegal drugs implicates you in habitat destruction, industrial pollution, human exploitation, funding large criminal enterprises and so on.
 
^How is raising an ethical concern being judgmental? Its absurd to imply that anyone has actually judged the OP. People have raised concerns about his proposition, not his character. When you post on a public forum, you are implicitly asking the human race for opinions on the topic you have posted.

Of course, all of our lives have impact both positive and negative. Some people choose to try and negate the suffering they cause as much as they can. By trying to trivialise this particular issue with a form of nihilistic resignation (the world is fucked, this thing I want to do is nothing compared to the fuckedness of the world so who cares) doesn't really make sense. The fact that drug culture has negative effects on the world is utterly not connected to the issue of buying a toad and keeping in captivity to get high on. This is a micro issue, what you have raised exist separately in the macro world.

Lying about your drug use doesn't reflect upon drug use morally. Gay people lie to their families sometimes, too. A while back, some people in interracial relationships lied to their families. That just means that these things are socially unacceptable (or just unacceptable within that particular family). It doesn't indicate anything about the ethics of the activities themselves.

I'm sorry, how so? Both involve making a deliberate decision to do something that may result in harm to another creature. The fact that the results of what you call macro issues may happen out of your sight makes little to no difference if you ask me.

There has been no attempt to trivialise the issue of animal cruelty here so far as I can see, just some fairly well crafted jokes aimed at undermining the po-faced responses that popped up.

And 'judgement' was perhaps nots really the word I was after, although posts such as the one implying that p'nutz is probably guilty of animal cruelty because he has the ability to joke about such things are indeed judgemental (not to mention bloody stupid - I think this person has mistaken the nature of laughter).

Also speaking of morals.. I hope some people who do have 'one' (perhaps Neo is a better neme?) man up and share their experiences for the sake of 'harm reduction'.

As these are suposedly selling like cakes out there, maybe it is best not to make a taboo out of keeping this animal as a pet, perhaps indirectly causing people to keep them in less than ideal living contitions out ouf shame because most of bluelight is offended by the idea..?

Not that I want to encourage the masses to also get one (or more) then perhaps people should disregard this post...

Also If Neo gets lonely do get him a girlfriend and call her Meo..
And let it be known there is already the 'One' (and perhaps his girlfriend)

I agree totally with your final statement there. Whether the effects of behaviour is seen/experienced or not makes little difference to its negativity. I would be worried if I found myself not caring about littering beaches that I rarely visit...:\ But I just feel conflating the ideas of social/environmental/financial harms of drug use with the use of venom from captive toads is erroneous. They are separate issues and do not logically have any other connection, besides the motivations of the involved parties. Its an appeal to emotion but is somewhat unsubstantial.

It is also illogical to say that people who commit wrongs (as apparently all drug users do) should hold no further opinions or opposition to other wrongs being committed. The bible says 'those who have not sinned, throw the first stone' but it says nothing forbidding the throwing of bananas. ;)

I also think the posts that actually judge phucks character to be pointless and unhelpful, though his use of humour may have been misunderstood. Critiquing his decisions is a different thing entirely.

Boy this thread exploded since I last read it, it gave me a good laugh for around 5 minutes though.

Seriously though try to give us a update on ole Frank once you have successfully extracted his defense mechanism.
I have a friend who has been extracting 5-MEO-DMT for quite some time. The last extract I smoked from them just blew my mind, granted I have never used a bong before that when smoking DMT. I have heard from quite a few people that there is a way to take it sublingually unfortunately I don't know much about it.

First question...can you give me an idea how the venom compares with straight 5-MeO-DMT...I have done niether, but have read many trip reports on 5-Meo, and almost none about venom.
If you haven't done the pure stuff try and give and idea what it's like compared to say...n,n,DMT.
Also, how often do you harvest the venom and what is an average yield per adult toad?
How big a dose do you usually do and do is it smoked just like n,n, DMT?
Are your specimens wild caught or captive born/bred?
If captive bred, how old are they and how big in inches...nose to tail?
Are they hardy and do you feed only insects or do you give 'em meat...mice?
