Drugs & Gaming

Playing crash bandicoot last night absolutley wired out my tree, the driving one? Not sure what its called .. on the PS2.. remember saving for months to get that machine...took a few minutes to realize what screen I was on..

Battlefield 3 is working nicely on my comp on all high settings.. but started to get a bit laggy.. thinking I may need a new PC sometime when I have some extra money.

Ive never been a console person, it baffles my mates..and me sometimes. The fucking controller is too slow for my liking, still able to rape on FIFA though somehow, engine is so simple.

Aweyeah I completely finished that not too long ago, finding that perfect line to boost three times in row = OMG

Acid and FPS isn't that bad either. Especially RTCW, UT and Quake

I've been playing Metro: Last Light. On 3-MeO-PCP. On my home-made "beta steam machine" which is an old HP desktop plugged into my telly.

The computer is not really up to it, but the game is pretty amazing, very atmospheric. Not sure what political point it's trying to make though. Probably "Give us your money".

OK. I did. It's very entertaining! I like how you can go stealthy and sneak about, then maybe slit a guard's throat or just make him surrender. That's the approach I'm trying to take, less blood, more sneakiness. I don't know if I understand what's going on but it's very engaging. It makes me want to spend £200 on a graphics card.

Have you got Steam knock? Thousands of good games on there, they often do sales where you can get a lot of good games for almost 90% off, I think about 40 odd games on my account but Ive lost my password and cant remember what email I used :(.

You can get a good graphics card for pretty cheap these days that will run most games on high settings, literally just have to plug it into your machine, very easy to install. Just depends if the rest of your PC is up to it as well, if its an old HP one sounds like it might not be.

My pooter :
AMD Athlon 7750 Dual Core 2.70Ghz
4GB Ram
ATI Radeon 4850 Graphics Card 512MB

Cost me about £180 to build it at the time, with computers though they are out-dated within about a year as techs moving so fast, but you can buy pretty decent gaming PCs now for about £250 on ebay that would handle games better than mine, GTA 4 worked on full settings fine though.

Yes I've got steam, I'm running the beta SteamOS on an HP/Compaq DC5750 which is a dual core 1GHz athlon with 4GB RAM. I put an NVidia GT520 video card in it last year thinking it would be fine for games (really just wanting HDMI output for watching films) and it is fine but it's struggling with Metro Last Light. It's playable at the lowest graphics settings but the videos I've seen make me realise what's possible.

edit: I'm pretty sure I should replace the whole thing. It just causes me distress to see perfectly good hardware consigned to the bin. And I'm impatient, I would like to play MLL at full graphics RIGHT FUCKING NOW rather than waiting for the steam machines to become available and paying top dollar for one. I want my cake and I've already eaten it.

and this is my idea of beauty:

Well Mendo_K I was hoping you'd say "it's all in the graphics card, just upgrade your card to a GT690, don't worry about the processor."

But you didn't. So I went back to playing Metro Last Light and to be honest it's still pretty playable on this machine. Is no-one else playing it? It's a pretty great game. It's a nice blend of first person shooter, stealth, narrative, atmospheric graphics and there's even a bit of a puzzle element though it's definitely not a puzzle game. Very enjoyable. Even without dissociatives.

Gouching and playing the old Command and Conquer games is great fun, until I come out of my nod to read "You have been defeated".

Defeated by the NOD

bit late, but lmfao

there's a game I wanna get trying on some 5-MeO-DALT or something, called Datura, for the PS3. Can imagine the trippy subject matter. It's a beautiful game but I'm still getting the hang of it cos the controls are somewhat dodgy. Journey is still a good one for tripping but it overwhelms me sometimes.

Ooh also EPH and WoW just makes me chain smoke and run dungeons all day. Or GTA V killing sprees. Do we have a BL GTA clan or do all you lot have fucking xboxes?

edit: Beatmania is great when you're stoned or on speed and absolutely shit when you're drunk

Bought south park stick of truth the other day, funny as fuck.

Currently starting watch dogs as the only time I'll be able to play it is when my housemate is in bed.

Just completed that - first game I've enjoyed in years, but it's so annoying that some of the bits that seem like they would be funniest are cut from the European version.

would like to play more games on drugs, I imagine it would be really immersive.

I've only ever played games stoned, and it does help you sink into the game more. Minecraft stoned scared me a little : P.

^ 8GB of ram is more than enough for gaming, you would need more if your over clocking your computer or really straining it

Yeah it was PCS.. bought it for gaming / wanted a computer instead of using my shitty laptop all the time, I barely even play games now I have bought it :L

A £1300 BL browsing machine :)

I got my laptop from PCS about 3 years ago and even though it's still running nice n fast it can't handle the new games on high settings, or even medium settings for most of them.

Is the 8gb ram in that not a bit low? Or is that still standard? There's 8gb of ram in my 4 year old laptop.

Ye mines had 8gb since a while back, guessing it's standard as I doubt you'd need 16gb if you weren't doing professional work. Or hardcore Paint usage.

Sounds like a nice set up, but it really fuckin' annoys me that you can spend over a grand on a new 'puter and all you get is a 'free 30 day trial of Microsoft Office'! That should be standard by now on all Microsoft OS's. It's no wonder that pirated software is so prevalent is it?
