Mushroom Season 2013

I think I was just lucky with conditions this year. It's on a peninsular so the ambient temp is 5-10 deg lower than in the suburbs. If it keeps up for the next few years to come it will benefit other shroom hunters (as it's in a pretty public area, can't horde it all to myself now can I?)

iv always wondered about this. this past couple years iv been looking for suitable micro climates, no luck so far but im tempted to try to get some mycelium and give the subs are head start so to speak.

@ the captain - we had a ridiculously long cubes season this year. i was still seeing odd / random cubes up to the beginning of July. its too cold now and will need to wait till end of spring again now. what state are you in captain?

I managed to get a 2nd patch of subbs going after colonizing them indoors. I'm hoping they get a hold and come back next year as they're just in my backyard and the conditions aren't ideal.

Low lying pine forests near/on rivers are perfect IME.

My unnatural season is still going and in a couple of months the natural season will start up again. I do love this year round mushroom hunting without having to change states.

Im going looking for my first time tomorrow, im going with 2 of my mates that have done it before, but any tips for a new guy like myself. just if you wanted to know ill be looking in QLD, high altitudes also... if that makes a difference.

i have heard this from a few experts in the field, pun intended, but i am in the southeast, and conditions have been pretty decent, i have faith in this this spot i know of alot of people who have had plenty of luck (probably in season) but im new to psychedelics im only looking for a few to try it out im certain ill find something.

If you're going to go look in cow fields then you'll find nothing. And I can guarantee that.

Do some more research on the kinds of mushrooms that grow in QLD. We don't really get the winter varieties up here, and I've only been lucky in introducing them after a few years tending to one patch.

you might get lucky and find a couple but it would be really unlikely. you need rain, humidity, and warmer nights. doubt they (cubes) will start up again until like October, November, December depending on weather. still nothing wrong with getting out in the sun and fresh air for a look, just dont get your hopes up.

Those penis envy mushies look awesome, and apparently have a strong trip attached. There's also a really interesting story behind the creation and near extinction of them. This is a great read if you haven't read it already.

from that link.....

In 1971, ethnobotanist Terence McKenna traveled through the Amazonian jungle to investigate a mysterious blue ectoplasm that gushed from the mouth, anus, and genitals of shamans in the midst of drug-induced trance states. The ectoplasm evaded any sort of classification. It was fluid and frothy, an ultraviolet phlegm existing outside of space and time, a potential bridge between thoughts and the material world. McKenna knew that if he were to study the ectoplasm, it would have to be under the guidance of psychedelic mushrooms. He set to work. He guzzled mushrooms and dissected his feces looking for any traces of the metaphysical blue snot. In the midst of

his experiments, he discovered a monstrous Amazonian mushroom growing on the dung of local Zebu cattle. It was taller and thicker than anything found in American soils. McKenna collected the spores and brought them back to the United States. In his disappointment over the failure to find the ectoplasm, he did not realize the gravity of his discovery of the spores, his microscopic gift from the jungle.

That's the biggest crock of shit I've ever read, complete fantasy, so far from the actual truth it's a fucking joke.

I find Hamilton to be the epitome of what's wrong with the psychedelic scene today. Have you seen "The Sapo Diaries"?: here

Wow, being bitten by insects in the jungle. Who would have thunk it? What a whining, complaining, piece of shit.

A twat of the highest order.

Rain forecast all week for gold coast and i am excited!! Been scoping out spots all year. May or may not have a shitty cow disguise for difficult fields...

Hahahahahahaahah!! ''May or may not have a shitty cow disguise for difficult fields...'' That is soo good ''Iamanarchy''. So much dedication :P

An entry fee would be excellent! Keep it all above board haha. I have a few fields were i have permission to pick upon however the largest and most fruit-laden paddock is owned by a school. I take it upon myself to save their fragile eggshell little minds. I also think trespassing is fun and it gives me a kick lol, i apologize if this seems juvenile or crass.

yeh it kind of does sound juvenile, crass, even stoopid, but hey we have all been there. just think for a minute, though, how would you feel having complete strangers sneaking around your property, wearing disguises, hiding from you, basically being sneaky little fucks, i don't you would appreciate it so why put it onto others? do unto others blah blah blah. one thing iv learnt from psychs is what goes around comes around and id appreciate having good karma around me and my drugs.

the weather is really starting to turn it on now, reckon we need just a bit more sun, bit more humidity, and maybe a little more heat. there has been plenty of fungus pop up the past couple days but iv not sighted any psilocybe cubensis as of yet. won't be far away and is shaping up so far to be a decent season. :)

Cubes have started popping their heads up around me (Brisbane CBD), just need a couple more sunny days as these ones are all soggy.

I do love the fact that all I need to do to check if the season has started is look out into the back yard.
