a pair of ling caught last week, eating one of them, cod/pollack family, conger type body with the massive head of a cod, flesh very much like cod, better than pollack IMO

What are they insane? Every time I see your lot out I feel bad for em, fortunately we on good terms with our postie. Though maybe that's just me being out of shape and sweating after a five min walk to the shop ha.

I am munching on 3mg etizolam and some lemon and raisin pancakes. Ooh and a cuppa tea. Don't usually have breakfast but figured I might as well start to hack out some sort of routine so I don't ruin everything when I go back to uni.

Legit jealous, I'd fucking love to go fishing properly like that, on a boat and everything.

In further fishy news, just munched Thai green curry wiv coley in it, innit. Sauce was only from a from a jar (Loyd Grossman's cos was on offer ferra quid) but did add rather a lot of extra spices and other stuffs to it. Only spotted coley in the frozen fish section (all half a shelf in one fridge of it) t'other day and couldn't resist. Two quid for five fillets? Bargain. Tastes nice too. Rather like coley, meself.

In yet more fishy news, dins last night consisted of pollack wiv crushed pea 'n' mint gunk atop it and herby breadcrumbs atop that. Was also pretty good. Co-Op have loads more fishy fings these days. Some of it really ain't half bad at all. Had the salmon 'n' chorizo fishcakes wiv Manchego 'n' red pepper sauce t'other day. Was properly tasty.

And blimey, other dinner this week was salmon fishcakes with florentine sauce in the middle. Has been a fishy week and no mistake. missus 8o
 
Pie like a shepherd's pie kinda thing only wiv tuna and sweetcorn, Bogman? Or like an actual pie? Or d) none of the above?

Just to break the fishy stranglehold... saw this earlier and am sorely tempted :!

Just to get the fishy stranglehold locked on again... =D

coley is good fish, again a member of the cod family...don't catch them down here, North, East and Scotland...very similar to pollack..coley (coalfish) used to be v cheap because the flesh doesn't cook pure white like cod, whiting and haddock.

I don't know why Hugh F-W doesn't sing the praises of the coalfish to the extent he does pollack :( The pollack we're catching are smaller than even 5 years ago. hugh F-W in his quest to get everyone eating "sustainable" pollack has decimated pollack stocks round here.

Mind you, the cod are getting bigger and more plentiful, so not complaining. :)
 
Keeping with the fish theme, just had a bit of trout with me dinner. Not had it since I was like five or six years old. Like it :D Of course in true family drama style, I asked Mum for a tiny wee bit to see if I'd like it and she just goes 'you'll fucking eat anything' and dumped a load on my plate.

Other than that, had two hash browns, two southern fried Quorn burgers, and some cucumber and garden peas. Good shit. Sort of want ice cream tho.

It is. Used to eat a lot of it (and pollack) in me teens cos was so cheap. Not seen coley around ferra while now though. As noted, pollack seems to be the one that's taken off. I actually think coley tastes better.
