cool, as a veggie you should be more appreciative of my meat/fish sourcing efforts.

People who post a sausage don't seem to come in for criticism. People posting a fillet of fish don't come in for criticism.

I know as a vegetarian you're never going to want to see anyone eating meat or fish, but a lot of people do.

The cod I posted met a swift death at the end of a baseball bat. Fish caught in trawl nets drown slowly as their gills get caught in the mesh, and they are suffocated by the weight of fish in the net.
 
as long as its ethical mm i dont care

its on your karma as to how you source the food you eat on fishing trips

obviously my own ego is involved in posting the photo, I had a great day, and was happy that these cod and ling were bigger than any I've caught before.

But I'm not killing animals or fish for my ego, it's for us to eat.

A lot of vegetarian mates swear by it.

Bolivians, who grow quinoa can no longer afford to eat the grain they produce, such is the demand for it amongst vegetarians in the developed world.
 
OOOoo you can't just blame veggies for that one mm. I'd wager it's your Tarquins and Jocastas as much as veggies. That fucking charlatan Gillian McKeith was promoting it for years on tv.
I remember reading the article about the Bolivians and quinoa last year too tho
 
No, you're right, it's not just veggies, I'm trying to say most people give very little thought to the provenance of their food.

I only heard about the quinoa thing on radio4 last week.

i can go to te nth degree

i can refuse to eat baked beans cos the glue that binds the tins are made from animals

the whole point is to choose to be compassionate when you can be, and if you can have a chance to be compasionate to chose to do so
its not bout ego or what you want to do
however when i see a fish that you kill for pleasure ( regardless of the lucky few you sent back into the ocean cos you spared them) thats a bit different cos its very easy to ease them of their suffering as opposed to you smiling with them in a pic

You're pushing a 'religious' agenda of sorts, at the same time as a veggie one atm TLM, which is really pointless imo. Best kept separate to be better effective. imho of course tho

I'm not sure about the bolded bit, I don't believe in a further existance, not that I deserve one in your eyes anyway.

And wouldn't this apply to anyone eating meat or fish? And anyone eating commercially trawled fish, where for every fish kept many many more are thrown back dead, not much survives a trawl net. And its a slow death.

Same goes for people eating supermarket meat, or processed meat products, those animals have had poor lives, and no freedom.

Will these people all be dealt a similar blow by karma? Anyone who eats meat or fish then?

We usually throw more back than we catch. Any that have been injured and would not survive being returned get given to friends, or if they are a poor eating fish I take them to the otter sanctuary. All the waste from the fish, heads, guts, bones gets buried in my allotment to feed my veggies.

i never asked you to buy into my way of thinking mm and if you dont that is totally fine
all I did was present a possible future existance IF you thought that way of thinking existed

but what i will say is if nobody wanted those frozen meats in the supermarlet would they even exist?

nope cos nobody would kill them to begin with
no desire for killing meat = nobody kills meat

cos there is NO profit to be made

I know. I know you don't expect me to become a vegetarian, nor to suddenly believe in something I don't think exists.

Just as i don't expect you to like the idea of eating meat and fish.

I'm just answering your questions, and trying to explain my position on the meat/fish thing.

And am still puzzled as to why in the whole munching thread this is the first time you've brought this up. (apologies if you have pulled others up on it). Posting pictures of plates with fish or meat on doesn't seem to irk you, but posting pictures of whole dead fish seems to be worse. I genuinely don't understand why i'm to be singled out in a future existance any more so than anyone else who eats meat or fish.
