I am certainly not being sycophantic with my photos at all! I post my shots just to share what I have seen, where I have been. If you love them or hate them is your choice and has not effect on my desire to share.
for your pix. Hence balancing a bit with constructive criticism just to re-assert my status as actual trained photographer so I don't cry I think you misunderstood - and/or I didn't make it very clear - was meaning me being sycophantic with all thefor your pix. That aside, it really is kinda hard to "teach" composition as - as noted - it ultimately comes down to personal taste. Would have to focus on individual shots and even then personal preference trumps "rules" every time. The Golden Rule ("thirds," Golden Section, etc) is the basis for all photographic composition (which you clearly already know as you mentioned it first) but knowing how and when to slightly break those rules is what seperates a great photograph from a good photograph imo.
Am probably too pissed to follow up on this tonight but will try to be more genuinely constructive in more sober state and when an obvious example comes to pass. Have been one or two you've posted that have caused minor wincing due to "so near, so far" status. Again, imo. It really is all down to personal taste at the end of the day. But one or two of your pix have come so close to being really, properly good (imo etc) that I was screaming to get in the darkroom and/or Photoshop to crop a bit.
I realise I am sounding like a total arse with much of this. But when the world and his dog has access to decent quality photography potential even on their phones it's basically just down to the niggling detail that makes the difference betwixt good and great. Do you use any software to fine tune and/or crop your pix at all? If not it really is worth trying to get a grip on cos it makes all the difference with digital photography. (Not that I'm anywhere near up to date with that stuff as far as new versions go 8))
Just finished demolishing a full chicken, 50p! from Asda reduced, a whole fucking chicken. It had a wierd coating aswell, gave it a funky kick. Also got dessert, some jam croissant type of swirls for 10p each, nice late night bargain.
Shambles mate tomorrow when you have sobered up a bit, do me a massive favor. Pick one of my shots - run it through photoshop (or the software of your choice) and post your version of it side by side. Let me know where I have gone wrong - If you want the RAW version then let me know and Ill link it for you.
I'm currently using photoshop CS6 - is there a newer better version?
lol @ Shambles unknowingly rubbishing all bearlove's work.

avocado, a squeeze of lemon, and sprinkle some sugar on....get the balance right and it's fucking brilliant.
Can't remember if it was pontifex, or bandw who told me that one.
