Six in hospital after taking "2-CB"

bbc said:
The drug, related to ecstasy, often comes in purple capsules and is also known as Bromo, Nexus, CB, Performax, Spectrum, Venus, Erox and Cloud Nine.

Whut? I'll give 'em "Bromo," "Nexus," and "CB" (just about - they're first two are hardly common though really) but the others are surely pulled straight from their arses. Or a Chris Morris sketch. And purple capsules? That'll really help identify a substance 8)

Listen you need to quit with this, its not funny and it is misinformation to the point of dangerous. Ok. Be a sweetie and just stop it.

Dont quite know what your point is - these were from a friend in the states in 1989 and yes we took them after coming down from mdma - we were told that they should be split as they were very strong. Ive had stronger pills like those sodding snowballs now they were headfucks.

Where's all this AMT hate coming from? I've had nothing but great experiences on the stuff.
Unless you personally made the pill or watched it being made blondin I can't really believe anyone would put 100mg in a pill, it's pointless. And yeah as you say shammy the powder is where it's at, always seems to get munched so quickly though!

When I had access to 2-CB powder I hit it hard & never had a issue with it & I also had a few bits here & there of the analogues with no problem.
must be some idiot that freaked out from the effects imo

Oh yeah. People definitely can and do take doses like that. Generally not without a bit of a run-up, mind. Definitely doable over the course of an evening even without much tolerance. It's more the idea that anyone would press pills with a dose like that in. Not on your nelly. Nor on mine.

The PIHKAL entry was made by a guy that made a mistake with the scales is some way, I dont have my copy of PIHKAL at hand atm but I have both books (pihkal & tihkal) on bookshelf.

he fucked up the dose but survived :)

Yeah the PIHKAL story is an accidental overdose, has some classic quotes. As with the mega 2C-E dosage earlier, once he realises that he's not actually going to die, it turns into a rather special experience.... it's worth quoting:

(with 100 mg) I had weighed correctly. I had simply picked up the wrong vial. And my death was to be a consequence of a totally stupid mistake. I wanted to walk outside, but there was a swimming pool there and I didn’t dare fall into it. A person may believe that he has prepared himself for his own death, but when the moment comes, he is completely alone, and totally unprepared. Why now? Why me? Two hours later, I knew that I would live after all, and the experience became really marvelous. But the moment of facing death is a unique experience. In my case, I will some day meet it again, and I fear that I will be no more comfortable with it then than I was just now.

hey guys this was 23 yeras ago .....maybe it was 10mg i dont know - but i remember that a 1/2 dropped at 7.30am after hitting the md hard kept us going till lunchtime and it was pretty full on.

hey 10mg / 100mg easy enough blunder!

Saying that if its no problem i'll weigh my own 2-cb!

I jest.

Saying that this might be exactly what they did with the unknown alleged 2-cb substance

It's a brand of condom according to Google. Think someone was taking the piss when the reporter called :D

Others seem to be hair and beauty products. Someone was definitely at it. Unless these fellas where trainee beauticians.

Think it was sold in south africa under the guise of a libido enhancer or ED med a la mephedrone plant fertiliser. Performax may have been the name.

That's the only reason I posted here today, I haven't used the site in a while but came here with the sole purpose of spreading what little information I have, as opposed to speculation.

Thanks Alox. I know it's too late on this occasion, but you can use the MDMA test kits to test for 2C-B as well. If it is real 2C-B it will turn a bright green.

All the best to your friends <3

The Marquis reagent doesn't distinguish at all well between 2C-B and DOB/DOI. It is not a safe test to accurately identify 2C-B. Please be careful of spreading incorrect information. Mistaking 20mg of DOI for 2C-B is highly likely to result in someone's hospitalization.

I don't know what the reactions to the NBOME series are, there's some info here but it's incomplete - http://www.bluelight.ru/vb/threads/...esults-for-stim-empathogen-2C-X-RC-s-amp-more

Indeed, especially back in the days of slide rules and log tables. Forgetting to carry a 1 could leave you with an answer only one-tenth of what it was supposed to be, and similarly not borrowing one could give you an answer ten times too large.

Anyway, these six people are casualties of prohibition. Why didn't they know what they were taking, or how much? Because it was illegal. It's no more illegal to sell mislabelled or adulterated drugs than properly-labelled, clean drugs, so there is absolutely no incentive for quality control. And people having a bad experience with illegal drugs tend to hold off from involving the authorities for as long as possible, for fear of incriminating themselves and their friends and family; sometimes, they leave it too late.

Great post, Julie. :)

Quite silly of the Guardian just to say it's "what is believed to be 2-cb" without qualifying that by saying 2-cb is almost always safe and there's no real telling what they took thanks to prohibition and the threat from the police.
