I've had one once was just absolute stodge. I don't even know how I ended up with it but 3/4 of it got binned. Some chippy round here claims it's their special, it was especially shit. Give me fish and chips anyday over that.

Snolly and I have done some research into deep fried chocolate bars. Can confirm that mars delights were the winner of the taste test.

it was a craze in our local chippy for a couple of months, about 3 years ago maybe...deep fried Crunchie bars...

Only 7 years too late. The crunchie sounds minging, though would possibly fare better than the mars bar which just goes soggy and minging, the batter doesn't even stick to it properly.

Mars say - "Deep-frying one of our products would go against our commitment to promoting healthy, active lifestyles."

LOL yeah I saw they put out official statements about how they don't encourage customers to deep fry their bars and how they also made the chippy that started the craze put up a disclaimer on the sign saying Mars didn't endorse it. :D

I'm hungry, what to eat! :sus:

Chicken (and sausage) biryani action shot!

Just came here to post this arctile: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-19463119
"The deep-fried Mars bar has become a worldwide symbol of all that is wrong with the high-fat, high-sugar Scottish diet. But do people really eat them or is it a novelty item which has unfairly taken on a wider significance?"

They do taste bloody good though, got to be a little crispy there's nothing worse than one with sloppy batter.

going to do a bbq for tonights dinner, got in some steaks, burgers, chicken wings, sausages, corn on the cob plus will make a salad.

I can't get my head around the chicken AND sausage - just why? WHY? 8(

Surely you've had a had a biryani at an Indian restaurant before? However, your meal looks decent and I'm pleased to hear about your culinary outtings :D

Homemade pizza night here - I do the base, man does the toppings. Decided to experiment with a no knead bread dough for the base - alas it wasn't the best dough for a pizza and took 20 hours to prove 8o Though I'd definitely make it into a loaf another time.

I've always made pizza bases too airy...I'm not that keen on pizza, but i like a very thin crust, the homemade ones I've ever done are always rising like proper breads :( , haven't tried to make one for years cos I didn't like the way I was making them, might look up a thin base recipe...

Just had a pollack and ling curry, cheated and grabbed a half price jar of Lloyd Grossman Dopiaza sauce, was really nice for a jarred sauce, did the curry while the rice was cooking, piece of piss :D

Start drinking now :D

Waitrose says otherwise.

That's from fucking Waitrose, chicken and sausage? And Waitrose are wrong, it's not a biryani.

Airy for a pizza base is a good thing in my book. You just need to roll it out thinner MrM - get the olde rolling pin into action :D

I'm rather into my bread doughs, starting a free-range (aka from the yeasts in the air) starter off right now lol =D

It's a sign of your fish glut MrM that you'd do so many fishy curries - I'd not dare, be an absolute waste in my eyes...fresh caught in the Clyde is a rarity :\ When I get fresh fish or shellfish especially I treat it like royalty and with delicacy.

My man <3s pizza the most, getting him involved in its creation has been a major step forward into the kitchen for him haha ;) all good %)

No idea mate, I caught it. :D Its a very good fish to eat. Febrary March time is main ling season down here.

I almost never buy fish.

@ MM - what price is the ling going for over there, was out last week and a ling curry was @ €18

You're obviously not joking! bloody hell...I'm obviously missing out on ling up north here.

I love it when you use euros :) It feels like Scottish exchange = foreign =D

It's not my boat, I've got a couple of mates with boats....

John Dorey is FUCKING DELICIOUS! I've never caught one, mates have, we do fish over a couple of reefs where there are doreys amongst the bass and the bream...mate had one nearly 5lb in weight last year, which is enormous, and would be worth a lot of money....fishmongers sell 8 oz doreys usually, tiny little things, is a shame....

It's always good when someone catches a decent sized john dorey, it's about this time of year..hoping to go out next weekend to restock! :D Hope the good weather keeps up.

^
I'd quite like to go out on your mates boat too MrM - arrange it for us.
