Your top 5 "drug movies" & what you watch when you're high...

Thank you Kokaino and hydroazuanacaine... I'm going to send this over there and it'll probably get merged or something.

BDD--->DC

FTR, requiem for a dream is not that great. Its just DARE messages put to a hip, electronic soundtrack with the same cinematography used in π. And for fuck's sake, someone please tell Darren Aronofsky that opioids cause pupil constriction, NOT dilation.

Sorry to dig back, but that always bugged the fuck outta me when I watched that movie (which I do like). I wasn't sure if I was criminally misinformed or they just fucked up their physiology...
Also, in The Town, recent flick about charleston bank robbers- the dealers sell oxy as powder... WTF?

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas and Pineapple Express

Two of my top favorite movies regardless of the drug use.

I watched Bad Lieutenant the first time I dropped acid, there's a flashback or something at the end of the movie and I tripped out thinking we had starting watching the movie a second time. To this day I have no idea what happened in that movie except for the car jacking part.

Obviously Fear and Loathing... and i'm sure all the other greats have been mentioned; so my addition is "Rolling", it's about the rave scene in the LA area not too many years ago...

^^ rolling has terrible acting though and terrible actors to go with it... they need a real good movie about e with some decent a grade actors..

I didnt see High Life (2010) on any ones list or post I just saw that one the other day
Its a good drug (morphine) movie but not my favorite that would be----->>Spun

Trainspotting takes the cake for me....Ive booted up while watching the openimg scene atleast 100 times and then enjoy the rest of the movie in a blissfull state occasionially nodding out...feels good man

i just watched a scanner darkly...interesting film. I enjoyed it. It had it's flaws but it kept my attention the whole time. Doesn't seem like the kind of movie non drug users would like though.

I don't think anyone mentioned "No country for old men", no drug use, but drugs are pivotal to the plot.

The basketball diaries was my fav movie when I was like 11 or 12. I remember I put it on a paper for school and my teacher was basically like "wtf, thats dark?" Now that Ive had my own experience with dope addiction, I'd say Dicaprio was way over dramatic in some of the scenes. Also sux that he was so desperate he decided to do what he did to score. For non heroin users- heroin will not make you rob, steal, betray your family, and it most def will not make u suk dik.

I don't know what it is, I must be itching for triggers or something, but I've been watching a lot of drug movies lately. Panic in Needle Park, New Jack City, The French Connection (more of a cop movie but still very good), Drugstore Cowboy

Of all of them, Drugstore Cowboy was my favorite. I wish I could watch it for the first time over and over.

I used to love RFAD but the last time I watched it I couldn't finish it. However, the drug isn't supposed to be H. The pupil thing used to bother me too but apparently it's a made up drug for the purposes of the film.

What about the guy who wrote the book? :P Okay, you've got me.

I want to talk about some of the movies I watched that were recommended in this thread.

The good: The Town, Salton Sea, Drugstore Cowboy, Gia, The Corner, High Times (was alright, not too predictable though which I liked)

The bad: Human Traffic, Party Monster, panic in needle park

I think I was just too tired ot enjoy HT, but Party Monster was atrocious. I don't think there was one redeeming quality, although I admit I turned it off after twenty minutes.

Selby was a junkie through and through. He was rxed painkillers for legit reasons, turned out to become a heroin/morphine addict, although he got clean and refused morphine on this deathbead. Says wiki at least. I haven't read the book Requiem for a Dream, the chaotic prose turns me off but it's one of those 'ill get around to it eventually' type things.

I can totally see disliking Party Monster, it's a hate it or love it type thing, even amongst those who enjoy drugs. As stated above, the book and the story behind it are far superior to the film.

The Salton Sea was pretty underrated. don't understand why it didn't get more publicity and did as poorly as it did... D'Orofino and Kilmer were solid, and it's not like these guys are complete unknowns.

Life is Hot In Cracktown -- amazing movie on Netflix, with amazing plot and the characters portrayed things very well. It deals with crack, H, other drugs. Has highly visual rape scenes, street gang scenes, violence, blood...all in all its amazing, and dealt with some other very touchy subject matter. I loved it.
