right, i'm going to have to start with reviews and then post, i'm still feeling the guilt from not being able to review when this thread started
first up: tren - 'get on'
i like the intro; it could have a little bit more going on, but it's in keeping with the rest of the track. the slightly detuned synth sounds get your attention, they sound old-skoolish & help make this a 'smiley' track for me - along with the heavy new order style drum hits.
when it drops back in at 2:49, the delay settings mean that some of the echoing piano synth sounds get a little lost in amongst the bigger sounds, but it's cool because it makes you work for your aural pleasure
generally i love the off-beat kinda-syncopated stop-start drum pattern. if there was any prominent criticism i would make it might be the lack of variety, because those old-skool synth sounds & the interesting drum pattern could be chopped & changed to keep it more 'active'...
the EQing is ok, i haven't played it through my big system yet (1k slave amp) so i don't know how it would hold up in a club... the bass might need to be punchier, perhaps some compression would sort it out?
good tune!!
next: DJ Necro - 'the shadow'
nice hihats, as someone else said. crisp & clear with enough variation to keep you interested!
imo the kickdrum needs changing. i don't know if you've played this track out, but IMO it's far too mid-rangey & not enough of a proper kick. if you want i can email you some harder .wav kicks which would make (to my ears) the track much more powerful!
vocals good, and those sweepy descending sounds that bring in new ideas are nice. the main break's sweeping synth IMO could be tougher/brighter...
the main melody is nice, it makes me think of sparkles rising from the sea in morning sunshine... which is great!

however, here i think the kick and lack of bassline sort of brings the track down a bit; the ideas are brilliant but it sort of sounds like early 90s stuff because the bass/kick isn't there & the build-ups are quite slow sounding because they're generally done with one instrument.
the bass @ 4:50 is nice, i think it's probably too heavy for a proper soundsystem, but with the vocal it's pretty damn funky

some variations would help keep it interesting as well, because it's a great hook but it sort of gets stale because it's the same throughout... i'd also be interested in hearing a mix that has the bass & the melody playing together!
EQing wise it was fine apart from those bass / kick issues, which would be relatively simple to change if you wanted to do so

good stuff!
