matt harder - walking project

intro is great, menacing yet funksome. suitably evil broken beats catch ya by suprise :) they sound a bit muffled, if it's intentional then it's all good, otherwise could be crisper?

synths are good. i like the tinkly echoing ones, they tease you suitably. the big main phat synth is distinctly old-skool, it's nice. the track seems to be a nuskool take on oldskool style somewhat ;) what with the samples and that synth.

the break is cool, the high pad sound is maybe a bit too insistent, could it be faded in & out or something? again, old-skool influence but it wore me out a bit!

after the break is kickin' :) it's tough & funky, the layered synths & stereo stuff is really nice. here that high pad sound does modulate so it's more interesting, maybe the entire instrument could do with being a bit quieter cuz it sorta drowned out the rest at times.

it's got great energy, and the beats are cool throughout, especially the mods. it reminds me of good ole teeth-knashing early breaks with a funky modern twist :) the end is nice as well, something i really struggle with (soooo... tempted... just to end on a cymbal crash! ;))

nice one!

looks like suess wants some feedback ay ay ;)

im listening to proper, it sounds really good so, ill listen a few more times then tell you what i think :)

and ill hit someone else up while im there, who is the lucky contestant?

^nah, i just feel bad. i'd posted before in this thread & others, now that i've finally got broadband... it's like a revel-ation.

proper has actually been changed, perhaps 'psyclical' is the best one now ;)

Negative, i listened to If you ( go away)

omg dude, this is fuckin awsome, no shit i love it. fuckin top quality stuff, theres is seriously nothing bad about this track all positives, you should start calling yourself that instead of negative :)

seriously dude, fuckin nice latino spanish style sound with a twist then when the the little spanish guitar tweaks and doubles that sounds fuckin awsome, nice and tuff aswell. Two thumbs up!

get youself and MC on this shit now i'd love to hear it

MST3Kay

well i was kinda hyped after listening to if you, so this track didn't excite me as much although it is still very nice. Nice elctro mechanics involved here with a melodic touch, the change up 00:32 is nice then again at like 00:50, but this song is very easy on the ears which i like, and the little break down section at 1:25ish is really cool

overall dude awsome work, im proud of you :D

suess - psyclical

dude, sounds pretty pro.. nice 'Crisp clean and inventive beats' as you would put it, but for real this is some nice work i love the vocals and those break downs with the guitars, then swoop back into very nice, considering there is'nt many psy producers making vinyl i would say this is pretty worthy.. very nice clean sounding work, nice indeed...

I've changed this song up a bit, as always adding more touches to it i can just keep sounding better and better every time.. I have worked on this for a while now so listen and give feedback please, much appriaciated =D

btw its a Nu-Skool breaks track :)

^ ^ Review this, look up one post and you will see yours, look up one further and you will see mine, pretty easy ay? ;)

What Now -
The intro is different. I kinda like the shifted break beat in the beginning, it's borderline, "Dj Nightmare". It gets really good though how you evolve that shifted beat into a solid sounding steady breakbeat. Breakbeats are al about developing your beat and I think you nailed it on the head, great job. My only dislike was that the track sounded kinda nu-skool breakish and I am a fan of the melodic breaks. I think this track would be uber-awesome if it had some really phat, hard, hi-pitched synth line that kinda moved with the beat.

Necro - Anthem No29.

i love the opening beat its sorta breakish with electro kind of snares, sounds cool. The first vocals work pretty well although im not too keen on the bass vocal. You defintely love hi pitched synth lines dont you, recommendening them in my track ;) I like the back up synth better than the main synth, it sounds really good specailly to backup the main synth. I like how the track doesnt have the most basic format of the way its structured. One thing i could ask for is half a cup of bass kicks, i wasnt fullfilled with that factor, other than that, good job man :D

thx for reviewing mine also it was intended to be a nu-skool break track, but keep them coming the rest of you :)

Psyclical -
I used to be a big fan of psytrance. Dj Hardware is God, but I've strayed from psytrance to more melodic stuff. The thing I ntoice first about the song are the drumkits, they sound ancient almost giving the song an old-skool feel at first. I'm thinking Kraftwerk, and early NIN. Then you bring in some nice synths and the beat kinda drops back fro the foreground, good job. It's definitely Psy, although I think the beat could be a bit simpler. My favorite thing about this song is the Goa influence with your synth lines and how they move(and how many of them there are). A good tune, but a bit too psy for me.

bumpety boo, Im still hanging for you bl productionist's to listen to my new track and lemme know what you think.
I'm not sure if any of you have previously downloaded the link i posted but ive since changed it and updated it which makes it nicer and fresh :D

also, Negative, get an MC up on this shiznit 'If you (Go away)' coz its seriously really nice. I've got a couple of querys about it too, I need to know what instrument makes that stab sound that leads the track out, is it like a chello or violin of some kind? and also when you get an MC to make the track completo, i would love to bust some fresh filled cuts for it if you are willing to give it a whirl ;)

Heres the link for my Breakbeat Track:

crinklecutz - what now

intro is good, the beatz are suitably kicking/evil :) not sure if there's too much bass in the kick sounds for a full system, but sounds good thru mine... the squelchy synths are great, pretty psychedelic & in keeping with the overall feeling of the track.

i like the buildup at 1:30, and the background noises in general are kewl; the drums which come in after that break help to keep it moving forwards. the delayed scratches are excellent, & the samples are great.

nice warm pads @ 3:30, good stuff. which synth did you use for those squelchy sounds?

i like the way the main beatz are reintroduced after the mini break, it's nice & restrained but still kickin. with the pads & the plucky synth sounds it gives it a nice old-skool heritage feeling :)

djnecro - anthem29

i like the high delayed synths, they're suitably haunting... breaks intro is great as well. maybe tweak the kick drum a bit to give it more bass & therefore more presence in the track?

i like the melody, and after the break at 0:50 the way the other synth line comes in is cool... the samples are good as well!

the build into the break at 1:40 is kewl, and the synths during the break appeal to my personal preferences :) and the way they mesh with the initial synth melody is really nice.

:)

atmosphere http://www.drumnbasstv.com/dubplates/78.php this is a track i did a while back...i just recently started toying around with it again, its pissin me off...i cant get it to sound quite how i want but ,what the hell...there it is anyway

Meh. The intro synth line is circus haunting. I feel like going to some dark bohemian circus now. The bass is equally as cheesy and if it weren't for your intelligent beat variations and excellent usage of the classic 'DnB' style, I'd have stopped the song. You should rename yourself to LoFi Masta, because I hear a lot of dynamics/lfo/cutoff & resonance tweaks with your music. This is what makes the music intresting for me. I think you should focus more on your melodies and basslines now, it's obvious you have the beat mastered. Pick up some books on key signatures and chords, hell you may even try playing piano to familiarize yourself with harmony. I hate to sound disappointed, but your music seems like a damn good beat going to waste due to poor melodies.

excellent input...thank you

i kinda feel like what you said as far as mastering beats...im much better so far with creating my base...im doing a lot of experimenting with bass and melodies...im slowly learning about basslines and melodies(even i think to myself sometimes "eh that is a lil cheeesy" but i put stuff otu there to be heard anyway so i can get in put from folks like yourself)...i have no traditional music composition education if you will..

i would tottally like to check out some of the lit you are talking about necro, anything in particular you would recomend?

thanks again for taking the time to critique...much appreciated
