By samples I didn't mean the melodies or drumbeats, or even the composition of your song. I meant the pre-recorded voice hits. Such as the girl saying "...sensation"

Stick with us, man...You'll learn the lingo.

its all good man...i was pretty positive that is what you meant...i was just a lil on the "happy that someone sorta kinda likes something im doing alcohol rant"...i had a good night last night and it kinda spilled over into my posts onto forums when i got home

Killerloop - I will get to your tunes as soon as soundclick is back up, says its down for the whole night (that goes for the rest of you sound clickers too :))

headknocka being the only recent post which isnt on soundclick i had a listen to your dnb tracks..

Smile (unfinished!)

Now NecroTrance was right with this track, defintaley love the vocal use that kicks in, very good positioning for that, and even the way the beat kicks in with that sorta gunshot sound. Also the the cymbol variations of the last stretch of this illcompleteo track are nice.. Should really tie the end though, i used to do the same thing make 1 minute of a track then give up, learn your way around it :)
One thing i will say about this track though is the bass is old skool drum and bass styles i dunno if thats the way you intended it to be but i reckon it could sound nice with some fat darkcore jungle bassline, like Unkut is a bit more tougher the way i like it...

Cheers prop5....

As far as Necro and Matt - I'll scratch your back, you won't scratch mine :\ :( 8) ;)

I'll get to you when soundlick is up, KillerLoop.

pRop5...-

Great job, man. It puts me in some Alien Jungle Landscape. very rainforestish sound. The thing I like about it technically is that it's so simple and chilled, yet very good. Just proof that minimal sounds can be good. What is that like a total of 6-7 instruments?!

All I could ask for is more melody. Remix it.

Thx necrotrance, its actually 11 intuments to be technical, i dunno if you consider my sound effect instuments but yeah, i will be addind some more stuff to it eventually maybe some piano stabs or something..

next i wanna do a drum an bass bootleg of an undisclosed 80's rock track :D

thanks a lot for the input man...
yea i have to learn to make myself stick to one project at a time...have to get throughr the "block" ya know

about the bassline in smile...i did indeed intend for it to have the old school sound...i have already since i posted that tune made some prety big changes to the bassline as far as fluidness go...the unkut tune is def more developed and nearly complete....there is more to the beginning of that track than i put on drumn bass tv...there are 2 phrases before that break that you hear the tune start with on dnbtv site

my thing about the differences in the basslines...as far as oldschool and one being a bit newer...that is just my style...when i spin records i dont stick to one certin sub genre of dnb....i like to mix it all up ....dif styles...so when i go to write tunes i naturally write different kinds of dnb

thanks again for the input....plenty more to come in the future as i learn and learn and learn

headknocka -
thats cool man, there are so many different sub genres of dnb i dont know why you would stick to just 1, looking forward to listen to your newer shit when you finish it off.

Negative - Don't look back,

dude i love flutes so this tune kinda hit a soft spot on that note, Definatley does still need an mc as the guitar riff throughout the song is left empty by itself and gets slightly repeditive (Im sure some rhymes would fix that up). I love the sorta IDM approach you have taken where the drums are a bit broken up rather than a generic beat. The pad/synth hing sounds good too, just adds that touch of intensity, good job :)

Killerloop - Get on,

Dude their are some nice sounds coming from this track although the electronic sound you had going through it was a bit dull and dragged the whole track down because of the over use (I'm not sure if thats what you meant by it sounding too trebley and tinny, i reckon it might be although i downloaded it). Try varying up the sounds a bit, ecspecially coz its a 6 minute track other than that its not too bad, i likes the intro and the sounds its nice and uplifiting, with some little funky intruments going on

Killerloop - Dig

A nice deep and dark sound you got going on here, I enjoyed this track more than get on, you've got the nice dark progresseive sound then your electro funkier sections. Im a bit of a sucker for squeeks and bleeps but i like them alot in this track. At first i didnt like the snare although now i do realise it works well with the track, i like the variations with the reverse symbols too.. good job

right, i'm going to have to start with reviews and then post, i'm still feeling the guilt from not being able to review when this thread started :)

first up: tren - 'get on'

i like the intro; it could have a little bit more going on, but it's in keeping with the rest of the track. the slightly detuned synth sounds get your attention, they sound old-skoolish & help make this a 'smiley' track for me - along with the heavy new order style drum hits.

when it drops back in at 2:49, the delay settings mean that some of the echoing piano synth sounds get a little lost in amongst the bigger sounds, but it's cool because it makes you work for your aural pleasure ;)

generally i love the off-beat kinda-syncopated stop-start drum pattern. if there was any prominent criticism i would make it might be the lack of variety, because those old-skool synth sounds & the interesting drum pattern could be chopped & changed to keep it more 'active'...

the EQing is ok, i haven't played it through my big system yet (1k slave amp) so i don't know how it would hold up in a club... the bass might need to be punchier, perhaps some compression would sort it out?

good tune!!

next: DJ Necro - 'the shadow'

nice hihats, as someone else said. crisp & clear with enough variation to keep you interested!

imo the kickdrum needs changing. i don't know if you've played this track out, but IMO it's far too mid-rangey & not enough of a proper kick. if you want i can email you some harder .wav kicks which would make (to my ears) the track much more powerful!

vocals good, and those sweepy descending sounds that bring in new ideas are nice. the main break's sweeping synth IMO could be tougher/brighter...

the main melody is nice, it makes me think of sparkles rising from the sea in morning sunshine... which is great! :) however, here i think the kick and lack of bassline sort of brings the track down a bit; the ideas are brilliant but it sort of sounds like early 90s stuff because the bass/kick isn't there & the build-ups are quite slow sounding because they're generally done with one instrument.

the bass @ 4:50 is nice, i think it's probably too heavy for a proper soundsystem, but with the vocal it's pretty damn funky :) some variations would help keep it interesting as well, because it's a great hook but it sort of gets stale because it's the same throughout... i'd also be interested in hearing a mix that has the bass & the melody playing together!

EQing wise it was fine apart from those bass / kick issues, which would be relatively simple to change if you wanted to do so :) good stuff!

negative - 'don't look back'

i love this tune. i can just imagine spacing out at 6pm the day after the night before, a fat joint burning a hole in my fingers, getting lost in the drum patterns...

it's crisp & clear, well EQd. i can't think of anything i'd necessarily change about it, but i don't have much experience of making your kinda music (for now). there's lots of variety & the vocal work is great, that main melodic section isn't overused because of the different repetitions... if anything i might put the bass up a touch, but again i haven't played it through the big system.

i love it, if you don't mind i'm going to burn a copy to send to my brother, and if you're interested i'll give it to some of the people from warp records?

ok, here are two new ones:

http://www.soundclick.com/bands/5/seussmusic.htm

'proper' is tougher, more twiddly and intricate psy; i played it at about 2am and it went down pretty well :D

'psyclical' is the first track i did with my new computer/software... the guitar parts were recorded from my PRS copy into a lovely old marshall valve state amp, then transposed into the sequencer. it's the first time i've been able to actually use guitar parts, watch this space for full vocal & violin tracks in the future! the track itself went down really well, i had a couple of people ask me afterwards what it was because their drugs came on as it was playing =D

any feedback much appreciated :)

To Hell--I really dig the opening percussion . . . I think that that first really fast gated synth that kicks in is a bit too loud in the mix, but that could be the stream . . . the percussion all around is really nice, totally my style . . . the 'go to hell' vocal snippet sounds a little low volume and distorted, but again, this may be the stream . . . not bad . . . spaced and sequenced well, just needs some levels work IMO.

The Shadow--I like that intro, although I wouldn't have faded the vocal sample out and then the drums in like that, just seems like it leaves a silent akward pause there IMO . . . I like the synth work that fades in around 1:40 . . . I think that it gets a little too loud, but that again might just be the stream . . . it works well with the vocal sample that is interspersed throughout the track . . . I love how you do the build with the vocal samples . . . nice. That synth that kicks in after the build is my favorite part of the song.

matt harder

the walking project--that intro is pretty sick. the changeup at 1:10 sounds a little rough to me but its still alright . . . the percussion work on this one is a lot better than your last IMO . . . I definitely like this the best of the three on your soundclick page . . . I think that that one high pitched drone synth that comes in at like 2:00 or so is a little loud in the mix . . . but its a nice element . . . overall all the elements seem to work together, maybe just adjust some of your levels . . . good work.

killer loop

Get On--that wah-wah intro is dope . . . for real . . . damn . . . those reverbed to hell synth stabs that kick in at like 1:00 are the shit . . . I like that the percussion is so funky . . . the changeup at 2:50 is dope . . . man, this track is nice . . . some of the levels need worked on but the track itself is very nice. I likes.

Dig--right off the bass and kick are kind of distorted but that may be the stream . . . I like the synth work in this but everything sounds a little distorted . . . if that is what you were going for then okay, but to me the levels need a lot of work . . . this is put together pretty well though . . .

headknocka

SMILE--I like this . . . I love the key work . . . I did a drum and bass track with some real similar sounding keys . . . I'm a sucker for those . . . . the bass is a little boring though . . . alright tone just no variation . . . and those vocal moans at the end of the pac sample have got to go

unkut--the bass in this one is way way too loud . . . totally drowns out the pad which sounds kind of nice when the bass isn't playing. . . when the beat kicks in full there is this high pitched thing that is as loud and distorted as the bass, and with the two of them together I can't hear anything else . . . fix that and repost it . . .

prop5...

I dig the jungle sounds with the bongos . . . they really help out that beat . . . the pads are pretty nice too . . . the changeup in the beat at like 0:45 is nice . . . when the bass kicks in this gets really good . . . this would be wonderful to hear an MC on.

dr. seuss

proper--I really like the percussion . . . the way that the synths started as little stabs and then you get this nice little complex synth line about 0:40 . . . there seem to be a lot of dropouts as far as the beat is concerned . . . I think it sounds good but I don't know how typical it is of psytrance type music, not too familiar . . . this track is really good, I dig a lot of the changes . . . it definitely never lost my attention . . . the panning effects on some of the synth lines is real nice.

KrinkleCutz - Galactic Visionary (Harmonic Mix)

this is kewl :) my headphones are playing up so i haven't got the best sound quality... but the beats are crisp, clean & inventive.

the bamboo-xylophone sounds are nice, the delay is perfect. the bass is cool as well, nice and understated. EQing wise it sounds great, perhaps the bass is a touch rumbly but i'm guessing that's sorta what it's about ;)

atmospheric is definitely the word... it does paint a great tribal picture. it's so short tho, i'd like to hear more of it and more sounds incorporated!

thx for the feedback guys, ill hit yous up again real soon

plus this new track im working on is magnificent (I think so anyways) im excited to show you guys :)
