I can see why alprazolam has been called the crack of benzodiazepines.

I took clonazepam for five years. Kills anxiety dead, but kind of flattens my affect. Powerful stuff, and if prolonged anxiety were ever to become a problem for me again, I might consider switching back to it. I would consider it my third favorite after diazepam and temazepam.

Good old diazepam. I'm scripted this. I get a happy, floaty high from it that I don't quite get from clonazepam. More sedating, but now that I'm used to it, I just consider that part of the fun.

Lorazepam is crap, in my experience. This is what they give to little old ladies. Still, if there's
absolutely nothing else around, it'll do for anxiety.
As
paranoid android said, temazepam's not up there; then again, as we know, it's classified as a hypnotic while the poll was of anxiolytics. I'm scripted temazepam along with diazepam. It's my second favorite; I most often take it to unwind in the afternoon, kind of like after-work cocktails (for someone who can't drink). Still, if I need a night of serious, uninterrupted sleep, I can take it as prescribed: before bed along with 200-250 mg trazodone (yes, that much), and it all but eliminates nighttime awakenings (which I have a lot of with trazodone alone). I never realized how sought-after temazepam was until I did research on it. I'm lucky to have a running script.
