Finnish looks amazingly difficult to learn, too. For a native English speaker, Danish and Norwegian look and sound like Old English spoken by a drunk, so it's easier, but Finnish is another language strand entirely.

I’m very thankful to be living in Scotland now so SNP are an option, but Greens are a viable alternative in at least some constituencies… and the more who have the balls to take the plunge, the closer we can get to a multipolar system which virtually insists on a PR-style voting system to accommodate.

Not saying that's necessarily going to happen, but it's a possibility. And where would Badenoch take the country?

The problem we have is the FPTP system. I'd even take a semi-ineffectual multi-party coalition right now, like they've had in many other European countries. At least when Berlusconi was waving his dick around, he was still more or less kept in check.

But depending on your constituency (England in particular) your vote may end up being worthless anyway.

As somebody who considers them self to be “British” through and through (I’ve spent approximately a third of my life in each of the mainland nations, and have historical roots in all three to boot) I also kinda hate the idea of splitting up the UK.

However, that experience living both inside and outside of England within mainland UK, has taught me that life out with England is so much better whilst simultaneously being abundantly obvious that England could give two shits about the colonised nations.

It changes one’s perspective considerably.

Scotland in particular has been used and abused for decades (at least in modern history - actual history is even darker, naturally) and Wales is barely even an afterthought.

Scotland and Wales just seem to care so much more about the well-being of their citizens. England… less so

I'm from a family who were recent additions to Britain (from Ireland) but I actually do celebrate 'Britain', whether that's sitting in a Welsh speaking pub or walking down Sauchiehall Street at night. We should be proud we kept these islands going amongst an age of empires.

But I have been treated 'differently' in the south of England, and I've heard comments about 'unintelligible' Scottish accents (the girl spoke very clearly). So I understand the other side too.

The Greens are resurgent under Zachary Polanski though. Membership has skyrocketed and they’re polling well into the double digits with some demographics.
