As somebody who considers them self to be “British” through and through (I’ve spent approximately a third of my life in each of the mainland nations, and have historical roots in all three to boot) I also kinda hate the idea of splitting up the UK.
However, that experience living both inside and outside of England within mainland UK, has taught me that life out with England is
so much better whilst simultaneously being abundantly obvious that England could give two shits about the colonised nations.
It changes one’s perspective considerably.
Scotland in particular has been used and abused for decades (at least in modern history - actual history is even darker, naturally) and Wales is barely even an afterthought.
Scotland and Wales just seem to care so much more about the well-being of their citizens. England… less so
