Why some people have and some havent visuals on acid

This is an interesting concept that I haven't thought of before, nor seen research on.

It's pretty intuitive that things you think about/pay more attention to get stronger while tripping... but the idea that this actually may be due to increased blood flow is fascinating. Although without seeing evidence, I'll admit that I'm skeptical whether it would hold up to real testing.

Yeah, this idea blew my mind when I first read about it on here or on the neuro/pharma forum. Check out fMRI http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Functional_magnetic_resonance_imaging - it works because "When an area of the brain is in use, blood flow to that region also increases". And because blood carries the trippy drugs we take, more drug ends up in those parts of the brain. It's neat because it is intuitive like you said, and you can observe the effect while you're tripping.

People with "low self esteem" can have a positive mindset. In fact, psychedelic trips can be powerful and healing for people with low self worth. People can also have great self esteem and a positive attitude and see no visuals.

I have experienced mild OEV and strong-ish CEV on 100-125 ug doses. I very really doubt people who are "weak" tend to get more visuals, I mean why would they? That's like reducing the experience to some sort of "madness" in a way, am I wrong?

Psychedelics are visual, LSD is visual, music made under the influence of acid is visual. The 60's and 70's created a culture of psychedelic "visuals".

I've seen the mentally weak have so many visuals that they essentially become an invalid until the overwhelming visuals passed. I've seen people completely lose it and go nuts until the drugs wore off. To me it does seem the the mentally weak are more prone to experience acid in a negative way, the fragility of their mind makes it easy for a train of thought they can't control to collapse their psyche and leave them prone to extremely irrational behavior. Whenever I smoked weed while on LSD the visuals kicked up for me, also I took a whole bunch of acid and had been up tripping for 24 hours so I took a Seroquel to kill the trip and knock me out and before I fell asleep the visuals took over my vision and there was no way I was going anywhere. For the most part I've found that if I'm tripping on LSD and I want visuals, I begin to see visuals. On the other hand if I'm more focused on something other than the visual effects of acid, the strong visuals sort of stop until I want them again. Idk I feel like acid is tool for me in a lot of ways, I'm more adept at almost everything I want to do while I'm tripping. That being said I hate being bossed around on LSD, I am willing to do stuff other people want to do as long as we get to do the stuff that I want to do as well. IDK I've found that I'm very in control of my trips, on the other hand some people can't handle the stuff. It was one of the first things I learned on LSD, I am in control of my reality to an extent if I'm willing to take control of my reality. I guess some people can't do that. I'm sober now and I feel as though I have zero control over my reality, it's an LSD thing I suppose.

I agree with you when you say that people with lower self esteem can get better on a psychedelic trip. That applies to other drugs too, obviously.
Except that LSD gets more intense IME, if your are going through a tough moment in your life and don´t feel safe where you are or with whom you are with.
Maybe it has nothing to do with visuals except when it happens with me - when I´m feeling insecure or afraid - it seems to be stronger.
Can´t explain the irony but it happens to my friends too.

From my experience people who are kind of "mental weak" will have way more and stronger visuals, then people that have a healthy mind. With mental weak i don't mean that they have to be mentally ill or so, but that they are on the edge of a mental illness. These people function quit well in society, but have their problems and therefore in general "trip harder" then others.

Dont want to offend anybody, its just my personal experience and i cant obviously prove it in a scientific way.

So Rujex, I'm guessing from your spelling, grammar, syntax and malapropisms that you have some SERIOUSLY STRONG visuals.:\
BTW, are you and Pharmacist4925 related or just in the same "special" classes at the institute?

I don't think it matters how mentally strong you are, if you take enough LSD you will have visuals. However, they are not nearly so immersive as those of DMT, for example.

I had never really figured what dose of LSD would actually work for me. It's either too much, with plenty of visuals or not enough.

The fact that you generally have no idea what dose you're working with doesn't help with that, I'm sure.

Sorry I don't have much to add at this moment, but I read this thread a few days ago and it's something I've wondered about myself for a long time. I have bipolar, but my mental health is very good and I still do not see OEVs... I just wanted to comment because I've been reading and wondering about this particular thread for days and I Will have some good input when I piece it together right... Just want to make it easier to find for when I do...

Carry on!

Carry on!

Just my 0.02$

My bi-polar friend who tripped on acid told me the trip wasn't visual. We dosed the same tabs, mine was waayyy more visiual than my friend's. I think LSD has a way of giving you what you need, and I needed a more visual and stimulating trip whereas my friend had an ongoing monologue in her head (which is what she needed, as she told me later on). One of the reasons my friend also thought why she didn't see OEV too much, but had some very pretty CEVs, was because during her manic phase she has hallucinations, so what was visually going on seemed almost commonplace to her, as opposed to people who don't have bipolar.

Although I do think objects "breathing and rippling" are quite common in doses over 100 mics.

I dont think it has to do with mental issues

Like two weeks ago, GF took half tab and i took a whole. She's got full blown visuals and i got threshold.

Those who dont get visuals just need more acid: took two tabs yesterday/the day before and tripped good

I get stronger visuals at lower doses than many of my friends. I'm a pretty visual person in general, it could be related. Low doses of LSD don't give me crazy visuals, but around 300mics I get the full-on polarized rainbow stripe fractal layers all over every surface. Recently on 2 strong drops of liquid in a dark room it was so intense I couldn't see anything for the rainbows, I would have walked right into a wall. However, mentally I didn't feel confused at all and I have handled crazy situations on that much acid before -- cops, demented homeless people, times square, dark corners of detroit, public transit in foreign countries etc. (I'm referring to bonafide, tested, 12-16 hour lsd).

However I don't know anybody who can't see visuals on LSD at high doses. My favorite visuals come from pairing moderate amounts of LSD with 2cb or 2ci.
