I’m not sure exactly what you mean by ‘psychonauts’, but I think weed and psychedelics attract the most connoisseurs and evangelists. I never really think about them congregating in real life though. They tend to gravitate towards specialist places on the internet to discuss the details of their enthusiasm and fascination with these drugs.
That’s even though they might get high and go to all the places you mention. I think the term ‘psychonaut’ suggests more than just someone who takes that particular drug. It’s about having a more than casual interest in getting fucked up.

Psytrance, sure, also burning man. Many "psychonauts" at psytrance festivals just take them to party and dance. Psychedelic trance and burning man seem to attract a more psychonaughty crowd than say, other sorts of edm events, or regular festivals. I think something can be said about immediate experience and other aspects of burner culture sort of being grafted around the psychedelic experience... or was that the other way around? Anyway, this is just america, as for other countries, especially 3rd world countries, psychedelics are nonexistent outside of indigenous ceremonies or psytrance.
Though most people that id qualify as a "psychonaut" would draw the line with experimenting with too many other types of drugs, but something is to be said even for people who try weird nootropics or stimulants and document them.
I've also been surprised to find out who DOES have that natural curiosity, and might, say, try crack or meth.
There is also rainbow gatherings, but that is more just your generic lsd hippy shit..those also happen all over the world and you can meet some interesting fringe folks. They can get really old, really fast though, and can be very grimey at least in the USA.
Theres also certain towns in general that have scenes that break all of the above mold and everyone is on drugs.

In lots of those places and cultures the dance is the trance and the trance is the drug. No chemicals involved but the effect is still dissociative or psychadelic and a gateway to other realms.

Sure, we get that even with psytrance parties. I've gone into some other dimensions, sober, dancing for days on end. Made me wonder if I'd been drugged, on multiple occasions.
Man, I really need to make peace with the local psytrance because Europe or Thailand is just too far for such an essential ritual.

Heavy psychonauts acutally undetaking a systematic appoarch to travelling deep will be found alone far from all places. Kids getting fucked up on all sorts of drugs including LSD and shrooms will be found at any music festival. Psytrance communities are fucking unbearable.

Community and scene are two very different things, though there is something to be said for small festivals. Took me a while to figure that out, what, with their "business model
" and allBy design, a community built upon hedonism will chew up and spit out most reasonable people
might take a decade or two i guess?

Anyway, to answer the OP, psychedelics and novel stimulants and empathogens and dissociatives are the only class I think where people congregate as "psychonauts", in real life or otherwise.. comparing their experiences and sharing excessively. Most meth users don't write 3 page long documents describing their experiences. Or maybe they do and the accounts are just lost in time. Bluelignt is a special place for that as we do get some reports and it might save a life or two. And psychedelic parties are way cooler than smoking meth with 10 random dudes and a stripper in some sleezy hotel or nodding off with 2 of your buddies
Random subreddits of nootropics or experimental treatment resistant depression anxiety bipolar psychosis etc make up a significant portion of "psychonauts".
I will say, I don't know if it was bad timing or my particular reaction to hard drugs, but I lost *almost* all my friends in the *local* psytrance scene when I started using hard drugs. Now I did delusionally attack at least 10 people on social media in paranoid rants but idk

To each their own...I doubt 50 year old 100 kg me me would be as welcome at a psytrance party as I was at parties at my local house of ill repute
That’s why I like them - the medicinal value. I trip for a purpose and the purpose is clarity and wellness.
That’s sad. I’m glad you recovered. I hope your social media friends forgave you. Hard drugs are not for everyone and I recommend against them at all.

You'd be welcomed at almost any psytrance party. Unless you are an Indian in India, but that's another story, and just a tale I heard from a book, nothing I personally witnessed in India.

Gay bars = i don't know
Concerts = mostly weed and alcohol with the odd mdma user, obviously depending on the type of concert.
Raves = mostly mdma, kat, coke and some psychedelics.

In my personal experience (and I love goa/psy trance/chill) psy festivals were colourful illusion for first few visits. After that you realise that it is just like any other subculture. There are beautiful people and experiences to be had, but it is a business and people are people. I never liked to take something like lsd or mushrooms in large venues as I think that those kind of substances are not for party. But that is just my opinion. And, another opinion I have is that the term "psychonaut" is just term that is used to rationalise psychological addiction to a class of drugs. I don't condemn it as I certainly am guilty of chasing that experience/point of view "at the end" and have done too much psychedelics in too short of a time period without proper integration. I am just not willing to glorify excessive use of drugs and than try to call myself with some vague term to hide from the fact that I have gone overboard. But that is just my limited opinion that I will not try to break with smoking mix of cannabis+salvia+changa on the peak of 250μg LSD experience. Not again. Peace.

cocaine mostly, from what ive seen. some of the more dance oriented places may have mdma users.
psychedelics, lsd in particular, are used but not really at gay bars from what i've seen. i have seen them used at orgies (i did not partake). i wouldn't call these people "psychonauts" though

In my part of the world it’s primarily cocaine in bars, although when I’ve ventured into gay clubs in the past there always seemed to be people wanting to force amyl nitrate up my nose. I don’t know if it kind if disinhibits or dissociates you to really get into the dancing. I don’t like it.

One of the differences you see in the offline drug world, which I think is quite different from BL, is that people rarely are interested or knowledgeable about drugs generally speaking, other than for the limited, utilitarian knowledge they need to get high.
The only exception to this that I saw personally were the people associated with the psychedelic drug subculture. Although there seemed to be a lot of nonsense and BS floating around in that scene too.
