no, you forgive me... your initial comments didn't seem to want to understand my comment. you seemed to want to ridicule my comment without understanding or, at first even asking, why i said it.
i'll agree it's a little melodramatic but, to me, there are similarities between the two directors. for me, they are both directors who have successfully created beautiful works across a range of very different genres. i feel they've both produced good work consistently. they've both made use of existing (written) works as source material and adapted them for the screen. one thing i love most about kubrick movies is his use of light - think of 'eyes wide shut' and 'barry lyndon', two of his movies which use light to create extremely atmospheric scenes. i think the same is true of boyle and it's this comparison which lead me to make my comment most - the obvious work is 'sunshine' but it's also true to an extent in 'slumdog millionaire' and '127 hours'.
