What's Good on European and African TV v. Walking the Dead

I miss the old BBC test card...you know the one with the little girl, the doll and the blackboard with noughts and crosses on?

Just shows how shite telly is nowadays when even that seems a good watch :)

I used to find that test card scary when i was a lil kid

I think its that dodgy looking clown. and the random-ness of it seemed a bit baffling

^ Same here. But I did quite fancy that wee girl (when I was a wee boy, I hasten to add).

Anyone seen fortitude yet? Supposed to be an English GOT apparently

Watched the first episode last night and it was very good. A strange murder mystery in the snow, with Polar Bears on the rampage. Michael Gambon plays a slightly mad Michael Gambon.

Cheers for the update dude. Will give it a watch tonight :)

I recommend acquiring a high-ish quality version, btw. The streaming option I found had really terrible sound quality.

Sounds good, might check that out

Hammering through the harry potter series. i must be the only cunt thats just recently seen more than a minute of a harry potter film

Downloaded a HD copy, but the lady talked all the way through the first parts, so I'll try it again tonight!

Drunk History (may have to fiddle with the linkys within the linky a tad to view - is worth it) has been amusing me greatly of late. Premise is that assorted comedians are given as much of whatever booze they desire until they are utterly annihilated whereupon they relate tales from history which are then played by actors voicing their drunken ramblings. Comedy gold =D

(also highly educational... in more ways than one)

I've just finished watching this. (Watched the first half in the bath last night.)

Yes, brilliant stuff as usual. But considering he was trying to teach us a more complete and nuanced version of events, I would have loved a bit more titling, explanation, and chronological order. And watching a soldier play with a bird was fine for the first 20 seconds; it didn't need to take up 5 minutes. (Maybe I'm just thick though.)

However, that's all just nitpicking. It was great and I certainly have a better perspective on Afghanistan/Saudi Arabia than I did before. (And I already knew it was all fucked up.)

I (more or less) concur. If he'd been going for pure informational stuff alone he could obviously have made a clearer and more concise presentation, On t'other hand, his series have always have a certain abstract, dreamlike and - for want of a better term - "arty" way about them. I'd agree that this latest one takes that on to a greater degree than any previous work has done but - given his premise of all (supposedly) informative media communication having become unreal and unbelievable - I'd say it suits this particular film perfectly to be both genuinely informative whilst also being almost a parody of what it parodies only done in (my opinion and all that) brilliant and beautiful style.

You are not alone as I have never seen any of the Harry Potter films. Read the first four (or possibly five, I think it was five actually) books and rather liked 'em so will get around to films (and last book) one day.

Yeah, I know it was arty, and I do appreciate that, up to a point. ;) I just wanted to learn a lot more in that 2.5 hours.

In other news, I can't believe how FUCKING LONG IT TAKES to watch a film on normal TV with all the adverts. Fuck me.

Checked out first episode of Better Call Saul last night on Netflix.
Decent watch but first episode so would hope it’ll gather a bit of pace as it continues.
Couple interesting appearances from Breaking Bad characters as well so not sure how they will figure in the show.

Also checked out that new show Fortitude on Sky.
Slow at times but seems to have potential, don’t quite know where it’s going just now but suppose that’s what’s holding my attention.

Was off on the Pat & Mick last week so managed two series of Homeland which was excellent.
Struggling to get going with the 3rd series as I’ve heard it’s not as good and that’s maybe clouding my judgement.
First two had me gripped to be fair so highly recommend it.

Gonna check out better call saul in a bit. & yeah Homeland is wicked, 3rd series isnt as good but still deffo worth watching, takes a bit to get going. struggling with the 4th at the moment

Yeah, don't give up on Homeland; plough through. The last season was fucking amazing.

We'll huvtae give Better Call Saul a try. Writing it on a post-it the now. :D

Fucking amazing aye? Am gonna have to go get hold of the last season of homeland

Seen 3/4 of the first ep of.. better call saul, not too sure on it yet

The most recent episode of the walking dead was utter bollocks. I dunno why i keep watching it

See, I gave up on Homeslands. I really think it lost its way.

I'd just be sat that shaking my head shouting at the TV "what the fuck were the writers thinking"..

Yep. How about that final season? :D

Haha... man that season was a mess. What a complete fuckup

Yeah the 3rd felt like it kinda lost it... & that Dana girl is so annoying. the dexter series properly lost it tho, a masterpiece of a series turned to utter bollocks

I didn't make it to the end of Dexter for some reason. Think it was MrsMist moaning, she wasn't a fan at all... So I didn't miss much then..

Anyone checked out "Better Call Saul" or whatever it's called? Any good?
