I always thought of rum and coke as the prototypical alky's drink. Not aiming that at you, MM, just the heaviest drinkers I've met seem to gravitate towards the stuff.
Not jakies, really, just ordinary alkies. Ordinary people who drink to excess all the time.
I've got a bottle sat in the cupboard, not so keen on it personally. I don't find it too bad mixed with a little apple juice. Perhaps I've just not acquired the taste for it?
A friend of mine buys me a whisky every now and again when out and about, it seems a bit wasted on me. Maybe it's one of those drinks you have to work at acquiring a taste for?
I've never been able to acquire the taste for most lagers. If you gave me a pint of Stella I'd be very uncomfortable. But I love all kinds of ale, and I like some lagers like Staropramen.
Most beer, especially the main brands, taste pretty crap but beers one of those things that's just really easy to drink. Goes down no problem and is pretty bland.
I think the last whisky I tried was an Oban single malt, that was a bit too smoky for my taste. I like ales and beers a little too much (IPA being my favourite style) hence my switch to spirits, in some kind of piss poor attempt at not becoming a fat bastard.
magners pear cider, meh... i like pear cider but this is nothing special. in fact quite bad.
