What misconceptions did you have about sex when you were younger?

LOL this is hilarious!
I remember being quite informed about sex, but for some reason had never even heard of cum or sperm. The first time I came was from masturbating and I didn't know what I was doing or why, I was like an involuntary action, and when I came I was a little shocked, I thought my dick was excreting something like puss and that I had a disease or something. It wasn't till it happened again two days later that I realised what it was, and I freaked out at the idea that I had already had my first ejaculation and not known it!

I don't think I learned anything about sex untill about 8th grade!! haha- my parents did NOT talk about sex or anything..not untill I was pregnant at least!! worst time I'll tell you is when you are already pregnant and they are trying to lecture you about it!
 
I thought a condom was like a pair of rubber undies that the lady wore, with a dangly bit in the middle that looked like a penis but was the bit the guy put his dick in , and then into the woman...I guess I didn't think that the underwear part of this contraption wasn't actually necessary!

I have a very sad story to tell.
I was so clueless about sex that when i was 15 and i had been messing around with a guy and he put his penis near me i thought i might be pregnant. For three months after that i didn't get my period (i think this was from changed living conditions- i moved from australia to thailand and it happened to other girls too.) I was so freaked.
When i was about 13 and someone asked me if i was a virgin, i said no. Its like if someone asks you "Are you an idiot" and you dont know what an idiot is so you say no. I think it is the only question like that you say no to and are wrong about.
God i was so clueless, my mum told me nothing.
Other than that i really had absolutely no clue whatsoever about anything concerning this subject until about grade 9 when sex ed started.
 
Until I was about 7 I was convinced my testicles were my kidneys. Kidneys filter your pee, and it was near my penis, so it made sense at the time.
By 2nd grade I had the missionary position worked out, the guy getting on top and doing the thrusting bit. I wasn't really sure what else was involved :)
 
When I was in like 2nd or 3rd grade, I remember being surprised that the term for a man who has sex with a woman was actually "Hetero-sexual". Up until then, I had never heard the word "Hetero-sexual" before, just the word "Homo-sexual".
And I didn't know what gay people were yet, but I knew boys had sex with girls, and the term staretd with an "H" and ended in "sexual".
So for like a year or more I thought I was a homosexual. Which I find funny now, because damn being gay would be so much cooler...
Anyways, also roughly around the same time period:
I remember being totally shocked when someone asked me if I knew what a condom was, and when I replied:
"Sure, a condominium, it's like a big house..."
They laughed and pretended I didn't know what it was. Then they explained. Then I explained it's ALSO the term for a big house. Then they said that's a "condo" not a "condom". Then I prenteded I didn't care and left. Later I asked my friend next period if he knew what a "condom" was...
When he didn't know, I laughed at him and called him names for not knowing something that everyone knew...
God I miss being a kid...

same as a couple of other people have already said, i *did* know that sex involved inserting certain things, but i thought the vagina wqas just a circular hole at the bottom of the stomach. i was also under the impression that the guy just layed on top of the girl.
just occurred to me then that i never had any thoughts on homosexual sex...man, that would have done my head in!!

Through the years growing up, some of my friends managed to get ahold of a porno or two (maybe from their parents stash, or another friend).
I could never tell what in the hell was going on that made a mans urine turn "white" and why he was shooting it all over the girl? I had no clue what "cum" was, or what it feels like to orgasm. All I knew was the man in the movie was peeing on the woman.
Weird stuff.
 
I thought that when people (french)kissed in movies, they weren't "really" kissing, just pretending, cause they coudlnt really be doing that with all those different ppl could they?

Bottom or Top
When I was younger they really didn't discus the concept of non-heterosexual sex in sex Ed. So I was really unsure about a lot of things. I suppose the most semi regretful misconception I had was that effeminate males are suppose to be "bottoms" For those of you who have no idea what A “bottom” is I'll just say this... it involves getting poked- blushed. I have come to realize that as an adult I don’t really favor the getting poked aspect of sex- giggle. Pain is really not my thing and it’s my sincere opinion that bottoming is painful, that stuff hurts. The whole effeminate males having to bottom is a misconception that probably could have been prevented had my school actually talked about non-heterosexual sex in sex Ed. Besides I love to make them bend over an take it now!

Naturally when i was about 3-5 years old i had all these weird wacky ideas about sex that most kids do. But i basically grew up with sex and drugs all around me. My parents owned a sex shop...and were dope dealers. I pretty much had an idea about sex at a very young age. I watched my first porno at 7, but had been revealed to xxx magazines before that... My parents didnt mean for this ofcourse, but they werent too careful with hiding things either from my sister and i.
My mother basically cheated on my father from when my sister and i were a very young age. She would be sleeping with men that were younger than her... bringing them to the house etc.
My parents finally split up when i was 16, and by the age of 18 i was a stripper. But i got myself out of that...
I have made some stupid choices in my life because of my upbringing... So i wish i had a normal upbringing like you guys did, and i wish i was a normal innocent little girl...

When my Mom gave me the "sex talk" she somehow left me with the impression that I would soon be getting hair "down there" and that I would begin to produce sperm. She said girls would also get hair and that they would produce tiny eggs. Then when a man and a woman layed naked against each other the sperm would fertilise the egg.
I came away thinking that the womans tiny eggs would be stuck in her pubes, and that the sperm would just seep out of my pubes like sweat. I remember being worried about how I would keep my pants dry when the sperm seeped out, wondering how the tiny babies could hang onto the pubes without falling off till they got big, and wondering if I could perhaps just wipe some sperm off my pubes onto the eggs so I could make babies without doing anything as gross as squishing my pubes together with a girl. How Gross! :)

LMFAO...i have never laughed out loud so much at one thread!
when i was little my dad and i used to take baths together. when i was about 3 i started to get analytical and asked daddy what "that" was. referring to his penis. he replied, "that's my noodle." up until i was prolly 10 or 12 i called my privates my noodle too. my mom always thought that was really cute.
my parents divorced when i was 4 and then it was just my mom and i until i was 14. her and i are very close and talk about anything and everything. she always told me everything about sex and explained everything to me in proper educational detail since she's a nurse, so i never really had any misconceptions about sex. the problem was that she never really raised me to think that sex was a special thing between two people that cared about eachother. sex was just sex and people did it, so i kind of lost my virginity at a very young age and didn't realize that i was wayyyyy too younge to be having sex.
my friend and i went to myrtle beach when i was 14 and she was 15. on the way down there we decided that it would be cool to lose our virginity down there. so that was our goal. needless to say i did and she didn't. not long after that i learned that 14 year olds probably shouldn't be having sex, since like none of my friends had. now that i look back i wish she would have told me that can and should be special because now i have a skewed idea about sex and love and all that.
 
Until I was 11 I thought that "sucking dick" was just another word for sex, because no girl would ever let a guy put his dick in her mouth. I also had no idea what "eating out" meant.
When I was even younger than that I shared Fizzy's belief that people "pretended" to kiss in TV and Movies.
Also, until I was in college I always thought that a guy couldn't pee if he had an errection... somewhere in all-girls-school sex ed they told us that there was a valve that prevented urine from coming out or something.
 
A guy I use to know believed that the colour of the skin dictated the colour of your cum...
I can't believe he held this belief until about 18 years old... I guess that's why he's working at McDonalds full time.

Yesterday... That no pissing with an erection myth is pretty true. I sure as hell know I couldn't when its totally up, down a little and I might just be able to.
