One thing I don't understand is why PS3 decided to stop offering backwards compatibility for their PS2 games after the 60GB hard drive was discontinued. That's the big thing stopping me from picking one up right now. I'm afraid I can't play my PS2 games if the mood strikes.

Oh, and Kul -- epic rant!

I agree its sad Saturn was marketed so poorly.

As far as paying for Xbox live for no reason. Its no different than paying a fee to play a pc game online. Its tried and true and IME is a much smoother more enjoyable expirience than ps online. Not to mention you can download exclusive content unavailable to ps3 owners. Its 50 a year that's about 4.17 a month. Are you seriously thinking that's too much for a service that everyone and their mom wants to get into because of its sheer number of customers. Tekken 6 will be available on Xbox this time... wonder why

xbox 360 is definitely winning me over with their exclusive titles and content. RE5, Tales of Vesperia, Star Ocean, Fable 2...Seriously, what good exclusive RPG titles does PS3 have?

Well, Sony has the rights to a lot of very good titles. PS2 was the flagship console for RPG goodness in its day.

Who knows what will be released in the coming months.

And this is exactly why I'm dissappointed in them. Star Ocean and the Tales series were titles that Sony had rights to on PS and PS2. And now they're exclusive to XBOX. Sony doesn't even have exclusive rights on Final Fantasy XIII. Its starting to look like Microsoft is getting the upperhand on RPGs.

This is a justified rant and i share it. I think it was the costs, for to have compatability with ps2 software the machine needs an entirly extra graphics card or something.

That's exactly it. On Xbox 360 original games require a patch download and I believe the games are done in emulation which is why the most popular are all that works.

Also Xbox offers some original titles for download, of course at a price. I wouldn't be surprised if Sony followed suit and made ya buy the same game twice even if ya own it.

^I believe all PS3's being manufactured now lack the Emotion Engine, and can't play PS2 games.

To the OP, I would look at lists of games available for the systems and see which one has the games you want. I think PC is the true way, but I'm looking to get a PS3 or Wii personally. IMO the Xbox has way to little exclusive software, It's a matter of time before Halo 3 and Gears 2 are ported to the PC, even if Epic and MS are saying it won't happen(like before)

I'm leaning toward the PS3, I'v never found the Wiimote all that fun to wave around, and after the endless flood of peripherals that was nintendo for the past 10 years, I'm kind of want a plain controller. They still owe for that 10-kiloton fusion bomb that was the e-reader.

I love the wii right now, but I'm quickly finding out that most of the games suck.

At first I thought Nintendo genius for opening up an entire new market for gamers. They really took interactive gaming to the next level.

The problem is repeat playability. Ya sure, Wii Fit is cool for the first week, then it ends up collecting dust in the corner. Same goes for most of their titles. Great novelty value, very little staying power.

i bought my wii day one and i still love using it. currently enjoying pikmin! :D:D:D

my personal pref is PS3, the greatest feature of the wii is also its greatest downfall.. sometimes i just cant be arsed dancing all over my living room waving a fucking stick about when i can chill on the couch with a pad

I never played the original, wanted to but never got around to it. So i can't compare. It's just the same game as far as i have read, but with far better control (which are pretty friggin sweet).

I've got a blu ray player already so the decision is an extremely easy one - 360 every time. PS3 is nothing without it's blu ray feature. Free online play yes but the quality is awful and it misses 360's online community.

DLC is overpriced and that's my only complaint about the 360

I'm pretty sure the 360 and ps3 have almost all the same games.
So you should pretty much pick whether or not you want to play God of War or Halo.

Keep in mind most people find the 360 controllers more comfortable.

I really like the 360 controllers. Seems that Microsoft are losing alot of once exclusive titles though - Bioshock, Mass Effect, Dead Rising...they are 3 awesome games.

That was always my attraction - the best exclusive titles were on the 360.
