Ya 360s break. Then they are fixed for free and the best version is still way cheaper than a ps3. I don't get the blueray argument. I do to a point, I mean watching discovery's planet earth on blueray is worth it. Watching pineapple express on blueray not so much.

It seems to me that if you want to play shooters without upgrading your computer every 2 years than a 360 is what you want. If you're a movie collector that isn't really into shooters than ps3 is probably what you want. I say collector because I don't usually watch something more than once so downloading it works for me. The wii IMO is best for group play. Its kinda like a party system that people that don't usually play games "hardcore"

I had a wii. I sold my wii and upgraded my 360 to elite. Therefore the 360 is the best because I have one blah blah blah. The reality is no ones buying ps3s. Technically its a better system but, its expensive and developers aren't making games for it because no one has em. Last issue of game informer said there will be no metal gear solid on 360, which basically makes the game invisible. If you were making a game what platform would you choose?

invisible, but still got a perfect 10 on ign. i can't wait to play it.

nb: i seldom play my wii with others. i mean i break it out when we have guests, but i still prefer that system just by playing on my own.

I'm sure it did get a 10. Its too bad really cause I would have bought that mgs when it came out. The Xbox version of mgs I guess would be splinter cell but I've never liked the series because there were whole levels in which you couldn't kill anyone or be seen at all. Not exactly my idea of a good time.

Truthfully I was a playstation guy. I remember buying a ps1 just for FF7 and I got a ps2 for the fighters like virtua fighter and the tekken series. Once I started playing halo ce LAN I never touched a ps since. The d pad for ps is so much better for fighters but I can't stand playing anything else without an Xbox controler.

As I've said 64,342 times the cost argument between the 360 and PS3 is kind of stupid. In order to get the same functionality from a PS3 out of the box in an Xbox 360 you have to buy third party hardware that ends up making them cost the same. However, in addition to that you'll still be paying to play online for absolutely no reason other than Microsoft is greedy. Also, you won't have an HD video player. You said you got an Xbox 360 Elite. That's the same price as an 80gb PS3 and it doesn't come with rechargeable batteries, free online play, a wire to plug controller in at any moment and charge batteries even while playing, and a Blu-Ray player. The next step down is $100 cheaper with a smaller hard drive and all of the above missing again. You can buy extras for a 360 that will give you all those features but then your 360 will cost the same or significantly more than a PS3.

Anyway, please back up your claim that the "best version" of a 360 is better than the cheapest 360. The ONLLYYYYYY reason the 360 is more popular is because Microsoft is, has been, and always will be the kings of marketing products. They took out features to drop the price at release and no one cared that the PS3 included all the accessories people just ran out and bought anyway for their 360. No one factored into their decision that they'll be getting bled for money the entire time they own a 360 if they play online. This allows Microsoft to drop the price even further by the way because it cost basically nothing to run their entire match making system.

The only thing Microsoft has over Sony is that they wrote better development software which focused on making it easy to port games from PC to the 360. This is why more developers go for the 360 because it allows them to release on the PC as well with minimal effort. Microsoft fucked Sony in the ass with marketing and the final blow was giving developers the choice between "Wii, 360/PC, or PS3." Of course they're going to go with the double market. The same thing happened to the Wii where no one wants to develop games for it because they're off making a PC game to port to 360 or a 360 game to port to PC.

Think of it this way, Wikipedia says 28 million 360s sold to date. If half of those 360s are subscribed to Xbox live for $5 a month that is $70,000,000 a month to run a "online service" that probably costs them under $500,000 a month. That is like $1,000,000,000 a year in profits made after the console has sold if only half of 360s are being played online, and they're using the reduced pay for a year at a time rate of around $5 a month.

Microsoft is simply pro at marketing. No one ever complains about paying a monthly fee and they know that. They just tell you some bullshit about how you're paying for a premium network so that when someone like me calls you retarded you have something to justify it to yourself. If Nintendo and Sony had charged a monthly online service fee they'd be raking in the cash right now and their consoles would be even cheaper to insure more people are paying the monthly fee. That monthly fee is like pure profit, the price of a console is barely profitable and in a lot of cases is NOT profitable.

SO THERE! In the end if you bought a 360 it's basically because you're a sucker, just like every other consumer in the world. I had a 360 for a couple months until I decided I'd rather not give Microsoft around $500 over the course of my consoles life for something that should be free. I'm sure all you super rich people can afford $5 a month but it's the principle that counts. Letting Microsoft do that means everyone else will do it next time and pretty soon what used to be free will cost you $20 a month instead of $5, etc, etc.

Not only that but the fucking thing sucks! It's practically guaranteed to die on you and you'll have to mail it in and deal with a bunch of bullshit just so you have the privilege of supporting a greedy corporation who wants you to pay for something that costs nothing, builds their development software around fucking up the market for everyone else, and makes a shitty product that will break and force you to deal with getting it fixed.

I'd like to say that I don't understand how people can be so stupid.. but I do.. and I take advantage of it and that's why I have two huge ass 1080p TVs, 2 state of the art gaming computers, a PS3, a Wii, and a NES with every game every made for it.

Stop pretending you get to decide which console is the best. Microsoft decided it for you when they put all their effort into making development software that supported the 360 and PCs. The best gaming system is a PC, period. You're fucking retarded if you can't see that all next gen consoles are simply computers with a proprietary OS and an mental image that conjures up pictures of a joystick instead of a keyboard and mouse. Almost every PC game out now that comes out for consoles as well has a hidden console command that enables split screen and all the other shit you think makes a console a console. If PC games always had a local multiplayer option that supported multiple joysticks then consoles would be ABSOLUTELY FUCKING WORTHLESS! The funniest part is that THEY COULD EASILY DO THIS BECAUSE IT ALREADY EXISTS IN THE GAME! THEY DONT WANT TO BECAUSE PC GAMES CAN BE PIRATED EASILY, THEY WANT TO FORCE YOU TO BUY A PROPRIETARY OS USING A PROPRIETARY DISC FORMAT THAT FORCES YOU TO BUY THEIR GAME! WHAT A FUCKING SURPRISE!

Look at GTA4.. released for 360/PS3.. wait a few months.. release for PC.. they wanted everyone to get in a nerd rage and rush out and buy it for console first then after they felt they had enough purchases they released for PC because they no longer give a fuck if everyone and their brother pirates it.

This poll is BULLSHIT! I CALL SHENANIGANS ON THE WHOLE THING! WHERE IS THE PC OPTION?!?! THIS POLL WAS CREATED BY A GAME DEVELOPER!!!!!!!21121

as far as an investment, probably a ps3.

But 2-3 months ago I bought an xbox 360 and I couldn't be happier with it. It's awesome, great games, netflix movies, and it's a nice multimedia center if you have windows media center.

If you're thinking long term, a ps3 will probably be a better investment. But i love my 360.

I also have a Wii that I don't play much, although it's pretty awesome in its own way. If you get a 360, I'd highly recommend skate 2 and gears of war 2. skate 2 is the best skateboarding video game i've ever played.

While this might be true, there are still plenty of console exclusives that are never going to come out on PC that I feel make purchasing a ps3 worth it.

Yup, this is reason enough for me to stay away from the 360 regardless of how low the price drops. Being constantly worried that the console was going to die on me would completely ruin any enjoyment.

i remember when i bought my dual shock playstation in 96. best times of my life

now, im strictly PC gaming. my 3 9800GTX's beat anything else. the downside to this is cost ( higher than PS3), but remember with a PC you can do virtually anything (and not pay for a majority of games)

ps3

...I might have disagreed two years ago, but the 360 is old news. Teh ps3 has a technoligical edge for sure, no one can deny that.

I love my XBox 360. I do have just the standard version (Arcade, I think its called). It was cheap and has a great library. Also, I already have a Bluray player, so I didn't find the extra 150-200 dollars worth getting the PS3. And it looks fantastic on the 50 inch Samsung plasma. Lots of fun playing Ghost Recon, Ace Combat and NCAA Football 2009.

That's the whole point about why consoles are stupid though. You're paying for an inferior system just to guarantee profits for companies.

^i agree.

i had the saturn and ps1 on release and returned the ps1 cuz it had nothing on the saturn in terms of fun.
