I don't see the ACC being contenders at all in the near future. Miami should be set for a couple years, but I see them getting demolished by OSU for two years straight. sorry, I like Canes Football and I am a fan of Jacory Harris, but if Wisconsin punked you last year I don't see anything too promising.
however, you never know with OSU in their first couple games or bowl games. so you have a shot
the ACC as a whole, I just don't see it man. Georgia Tech can run the gamut for the regular season, but once the bowls come around the teams prepare and beat them. I wish Florida State would return to their prominence, but I just don't see it happening. I am a fan of Jimbo Fisher, so I do hope that team well. I just don't see it.
Miami lost to Wisconsin last year due to poor offensive line play. We have a whole new offensive line this year, and while that brings some problems of its own, I still expect Jermaine Johnson, Ben Jones or Seantrel Henderson to play better at Right Tackle than Matt Pipho did last year. Tyler Horn will be a better center, and Orlando Franklin will hold down that left tackle spot as well as Jason Fox did last year. The line all around will be much improved. I don't know that the Canes will win, because the OL is the most important position on the field, but the Canes are better than Ohio State pretty much everywhere else. Never underestimate how much players improve between their sophomore and junior years. One more touchdown against Wisconsin and the Canes would be ranked in the top 10, if not the top five with all of the talent returning in their prime. I expect a 12-2 season this year. I think Miami and Ohio State likely split the series, OSU winning this year and Miami the next.
You seriously don't see Florida State returning? Like, ever? I hate the Seminoles and would love to see them stay mediocre forever, but thinking they will is just retarded.
As for the rest of the ACC, just look at the preseason rankings. A lot of up and coming teams in the conference as a whole. I believe there are typically 5 teams ranked in the top 25. I would rather it not be that way, since the Canes usually play pretty tough out of conference schedules it would suck if teams like North Carolina and Georgia Tech become true national contenders on a schedule where they already play Virginia Tech and Florida State once a year. It would be tough to play in a national championship with a national championship caliber team.
