You do understand supply and demand, right? I mean, on a very basic level? That if people don't want commercial cannabis, and are willing to pay more, that there will be supply to meet that? People should be free to buy their weed from whoever they want. If big corporations can do it efficiently (in the way that they can with most things), and thus provide a product that people want, I can't see the problem. If they can't, well, then there's also no problem.

I honestly can't really tell how big of a deal it is. I mean to some it is a big deal and to others it's not. It's just an issue if it's your issue.
A few observations from the gold coast...
People aren't really talking about it much. There aren't adds everywhere, there aren't even signs in people's yards. Basically, people are like, "yeah, weed should be legal." Its common sense. I'm a bartender in a tourist trap on the water so I talk to a lot of people from all over the state. Their consensus is a resounding yes. These are people who choose to sit at a bar, granted.
Unlike Nevada in 2000, the federal government has not gotten involved beyond issuing some statements about how it is illegal federally and they will bust Californians. IMO this is a good way to piss people off more than they already are.
The real debate is happening in the cannabis community. In reality, having a medical card is superior to the rights granted by prop. 19. With my card, I can smoke in public designated smoking areas, I can smoke in front of my kids (if I had any), I can grow A LOT of herb depending on the type of license, and I don't pay taxes. All of this might go bye bye with Prop. 19. However, how exactly the MMJ stuff will co-exist with prop. 19 is unclear. We might have a situation where you can still get a card and retain MMJ rights. It will probably be up to the courts to decide that.
It is clear to me that the majority of people want this to pass and will vote yes. Perhaps the voting is rigged and it won't pass, I don't know. Regardless, it is a step in the right direction and send a clear message to the rest of the world. Legalize.
