You may be right, Point is , semantics aside, this country, in principal can be a great bastion of freedom and liberty. A shinning city on a hill like Reagan talked about. It would appear that for all his rhetoric, he was somewhat complicit in allowing cocaine to be brought into this country to fund the wars in central america, especially the Contras in Nicaragua. But I digress as usual.
Yea my friend. We have to provide a united front to protest the war on drugs. This legislation passing can seriously weaken the anti drug lobby- because they get most of their money from ganja arrests, and the cartels in mexico make their money from poy mostly too. It can raise revenues- with the state bankrupt, now is the time to take advatage of this. With all these factors, you can liken the passage of this bill to surgicall removing a tumor. After the tumor is taken out, canerous cells can be destroyed slowly over time with chemotherapy. Remeber, we should legalize not because pot is harmles compared to other drugs (which it is ) but out of principal, all drugs should be legal because drug prohibition is unAmerican. They had to actually pass constitutional amendments to have the power to criminalize substances. Before that, the tactic was to tax something out of existance- need to get my facts straight but I'm prety sure thats the case. This is like a race war against those who use- state sanctioned bigotry like segregation in the south. To trully accomplish things, drug use current and past should protest like civil rights leaders did in the 60s- on a large scale. Attention needs to be drawn to the profoundness of the humanitarian crimes caused by the war on drugs.
To the OP, buds are prety much legal now. If you stayed @ the youth hostel in oB or PB you probably find chronic. Med MJ card are easy to come by and dispensaries are all over the place though I saw the one in oB padlocked the other day. If you are caught- max fine is a $100.00 ticket which very few cops would enfore, usually they confiscate and in 90' and 91' in San Jose I had buds returbed to me.
If prop 19 passes, I don't think the price of kind will drop alot- its still pricey in Amsterdam and dispensaries. Although, if large scale outdoor cultivation is allowed, super kind outdoor strains with high yield might bring the price down. Come to CA, its a great state with alot to offer. You caan surf and snow board in the same day. If you like hard drugs, one of the biggest open air drug markets is 20 km to the south. San Diego is a beautiful city. PM me with recommendations. I also suggest spending time in Hawaii if possible or checking out Oregon and Washington (and Vancouver, BC, Canada). Las Vegas is cool to trip on and NYC id awsome, period.
In an ideal world, though I am a Libertarian eshewing government control, I would like to see weed be grown according to the appelation system model in France (or AVAs as they are called in California wine country) with certain strains grown certain ways in certain soils and have agovernment agency overseeing quality. In door can be regulated seperately and shag weed can be given a lowly geneeric appelation. Then they can be smoked in hash houses and/or coffee shops, like Amsterdam. I think the age to smoke should be 18 but they are probably going to shoot for 21 because they are going to be lucky to get that.
