what genre is big in your city?

Hardstyle makes me want to blow my brains out, ITS THAT BAD. How do you even lump dubstep and house with hardsyle?? Hardstyle is the worst sounding music ever-worse than happy hardcore, gabber, booty house, and hard house/etc..

like i said not trying to offend anyone i just absolutely despise all forms of house music....i can stand electro house a little, but only in small doses.....gimme breaks til the day i die please :)

Dublin: most "clubs" play the utter rubbish that is classified as pop music nowadays. Some djs don't even bother to mix songs together!

There are a lot of indie/electro nights on at the moment. Who decided this was a good combination I have no idea. I hate both genres, and the most of the people who frequent these nights.

There is some good music if you know where to go. Twisted Pepper is good for drum and bass. McGruders was meant to be madness, unfortunately it was closed down before I got a chance to go. Its mainly one off events like djs playing in venues etc.

I live in San Fracisco, in Agusan del Sur Province in the Caraga Region on the island of Mindanao, in the Philippines so...Amazingly the most popular bloke in the land is Akon, and that in a place where the call blacks "Nig*ers" (usually) because some dic*hea* Americans must have uttered it one too many times...

I am now in NYC for a bit, and of course I could not answer the question here because this is the capital of music. No Bounce, like in London, but they are mad for most other genres that I am aware of (being in the deep bush back home I am surely unaware of some current evolutionary genres).

SWIM is not sure what it is like as far as other cities go, but here in Halifax, NS the club scene seems to be ruined. In SWIM's opinion clubs were designed for psychedelic use and in general getting out and having a good time with everyone, including the strangers through dancing and chatting. This which used to be a big genre seems to be fading away
What SWIM means by ruined is now these establishments have been overrun by the regular drunk idiots from normal pubs/bars because they think they will pick up classy hot girls because generally everything is a bit more expensive. To some the fun is now lost, you can't turn a corner without running into some bulkhead with an ego so big it can hardly fit inside of their dense head. The places seem to be going under and the original scene which shared characteristics with rave/dance parties seems to be gone. Since booze is "cool", the fun for some of us has been ruined.
Does anyone have any input on this topic?

^^^my only input is don't use SWIM. We're only talking about music here, you won't get arrested for it.
