What do you guys think - Dependence/Physical harm chart

HPPD is far more severe than "it kinda gave me a lifelong vision problem"- it's a disorder, not a mild problem.

Shouldn't the severity be judged by the effect it has on a person's life? The worst effect I've had as a result of having feedback all over my vision is that sometimes it's hard to sleep at night, due to the colors I see and that don't go away when I close my eyes.

I suppose though that if I had my heart set on joining the air force, and could no longer do so because of my HPPD, then I'd be pretty pissed off :)

Yes, absolutely. If someone is describing the "horrors" of HPPD "kinda" gave me a vision problem, they don't have HPPD because they don't have problems of any significant severity.

You don't describe your life going to hell as "kind of."

yeah ALOT of htis chart is bullshit. however, if you took a lifelong smoker, alcy, and junkie, My BEST guess woudl be the smoker would be the healthiest. alcohol destroys the liver. opiate users are not really known for having the greatest or healthiest of lifestyles.
now, MANY people world wide including worlds oldest people have smoked tobacco daily. so i would have to agree that pure real tobacco (not cigs) is one of the least damaging, and least (non existent) physicaly addictive drugs on that chart, except of course obviously LSD and cannabis shoudl be a ZERO on these scales as well.
now, sayign that solvents are safer than ketamine is completely fucked sideways. who drew this diagram??!?!t ehy must have been FUCKED up hard on somethign ahahahahha
peace!

LMAO. Fuck that chart is completly nonsense. It's like whomever made it has no idea about drugs empiricaly just theoreticaly. I can only agree with a few. But seriously when you see where ketamine is placed you can assume that's bs. 8(

I didn't see anyone saying their life was "going to hell" or describing the "horrors" of HPPD.

iameatingjam posted a response to the opinion that LSD was ridiculously safe by saying he had experienced a 'lifelong vision problem' as a result of LSD use; which I guess we assume is HPPD.

Looking at the wikipedia article though, it seems as though for some people HPPD also brings psychological disorders like depression, anxiety attacks and depersonalization. Luckily, I have never experienced these kind of effects as a result of my HPPD; I can't speak for everyone though.

They changed heroin on this image.

I don't quite understand what they mean on the data sheet at the bottom of the image page when they just say "Psychological", do they mean psychological dependance; harm, pleasure? What? Also don't know what they mean when they say "Intoxication"

Yeah, they have moved heroin way past cocaine, towards the top right corner, making it a SUPER BAD DRUG!!!!

I had a look at the chart, it just confirms that this whole thing is bullshit. Have a look at the pleasure score, they rate Ecstasy as giving less pleasure then Khat, solvents and tobacco, with only a 1.5 rating 8o

Lol at that, I'll take my XTC over gasoline and glue anyday :)

Nagelfar, I don't know what they mean by psychological, the whole thing isn't explained very well. I couldn't get access to the article they cite either. The intoxication rating I think means how fucked up it will get you compared to everything else, again bullshit. I would have thought LSD to be higher up, seeing as it can totally warp your sense of reality.

i think intoxication refers to how much being on the drug impairs your ability to interact with reality in a normal way. for example drugs like salvia, DMT and ketamine would rank the highest on intoxication because there's just no way you can control yourself on high doses of these drugs. that's why people need trip sitters and such.

after those drugs, then i would say alcohol and other strong depressants are the most intoxicating as they also really screw with your judgement at high doses, although they are nowhere near as nuts as psychedelics. and then things like opiates are less intoxicating because someone who is very high on opiates can still function very normally. but it's really all quite subjective and dose dependent.

And this diagram says that the physical harm of alcohol and tobacco is lower then that of heroin, benzos, ketamine and cocaine. What!? How the hell are they reaching these conclusions? It's well known that cigarettes are WAY bad for you, that alcohol in chronic use will trash your liver...I thought that benzos were relatively safe though, as long as you didn't combine them with alcohol and opiates..

I don't know how heroin is more physically damaging than alcohol, tobacco, amphetamine, SOLVENTS, ecstasy, ANABOLIC STEROIDS, etc. This just makes no sense. There is so much documented evidence that the substances I mentioned cause serious health problems, whereas heroin and other opiates (if not combined with other substances and used safely) aren't really that damaging. I mean, if you are shooting up heavily cut heroin with a pre-used, rusty needle into an infected wound it would be pretty dangerous, but let's be realistic. Definitely a bullshit diagram..."Let's keep those legal substances low on the lists!" :p

This also doesn't take into account how much of the substance is used, method of administration and a ton of other factors...way over-simplified.
