What are you munching on? v. the cheese n' fish cake crew

I just about to cook gammon, egg, chips, onion rings, and peas. Chips onion rings and peas all straight out the freezer.

Lazy, not very healthy, but good dinner. :)

Nah, I couldn't agree less, I never get gammon out because they offer "egg OR pineapple" and it makes me fume because I want fucking both! When the yolk bursts and fills the hole in the pineapple...there are few greater pleasures.

^ No-one else willl agree with you.

I think aesthetically the burst egg yolk in the pineapple ring would be great, really appeals, a bit of the steak tartare about it. But, in terms of texture and flavour, the combination of runny egg yolk and pineapple is not good :P

Chilli, nachos and sour cream, was tasty! (Chilli of course made from scratch, no nasty jars)

Today's dins consisted mainly of pilchard tikka masala. (Masala, of course, not made from scratch - yes, a nasty jar, no, not so nasty contents especially as it only cost a quid). Am very partial to a pilchard (whose natural environment is clearly swimming in tin cans filled with tomato sauce) and they're cheap as fuck compared to similarly tasty and conveniently pre-canned fishy products. Only 95p for a big tin compared to over two quid for a small tin of tuna and I suspect better for the ol' bod and brain too - all those oilyfishy greasy Goodnesses. Should make a point of munching more pilchard-based concoctions given such fine cost:benefit:tastiness ratio.

My dad's a hardcore veggie but oily fish are one thing he has considered eating for the health benefits.. not looked into it much myself but suspect he may have a point. Pilchards do not sound tasty but I'll take your word for it!

Leak 'n' potato soup for tea, with bake-in-the-over baguette. Yum. Been feeling queasy all day tho :(

^^tinned pilchards, sardines, mackerel, fucking lovely, cheap, healthy, sustainable, and much better quality than most of the "fresh" fish on a supermarket counter. On toast.

^ Yup. Really good value for money and really bloody tasty too. The fact that they're (supposedly) really healthy too is just a nice bonus.

Effie: What is it with folks replacing our fine Welsh National Vegetable the leek with the more wee-wee-based ingredient the leak? Sure the traditional version would be best cos leeks go far better in a potato soup than does piss ;)

Am very fond of leek and potato soup - good 'n' thick 'n' rich 'n' creamy without actually being the latter so less guilt-ridden. Am probably even more fond of the comedically-named pilchard (aka the sardine that's too old to be called a sardine aka the Cornish Sardine - rarely has a fishy such complex nomenclature). They really are delish if you like other oily fish - sardines especially as they are the same fish only bigger. Also have a tin of sardines in Piri Piri sauce in the cupboard. Never had Piri Piri I think - certainly not bathing the piscine products to be found in a tin with a key on it anyway.

You taking the leak;)

Reminds me of when I were a teenager, i was staying at my dad's and we'd been out fishing the day before. I asked what was for dinner, and he told me "dogfish curry". That was the worst meal I'd ever had.

Until the following night. "What's for dinner?"

"Coronation dogfish".
:::shudders:::

Never had dogfish (also called Rock Shark, no?) but remember it being quite popular in chippies when I was a nipper. Coronation Chicken is an abomination to any civilised palate so cannot even imagine how terrifying a fishy version would be 8o

Just got in and was looking forward to my fave, a chocolate and peanut butter ! <3 ! MMMMMM

But shock horror, no peanut butter and fuc going to the 24hr garage 8o
In the end i settled for last nights left over bolognese meat balls in a sub %) I know your thinking this was way the better option anyway but i had planned to have it for 2morrows breakyfast :(

I have just been chatting to my little brother and he said he ran into the same problem a while back. Instead of giving in and selecting any onther snack food like i did he decided to open a pack of HP Salted Peanuts and liberally spead them over a piece of bread drenched chocolate spread. This was his eureka moment ! he urged me to do the same right then and despite the fact i had just munched down a homemade meatball sub i agreed, Man O Man It was good <3:X8)=D;)=D:D=D.

From now on i urge u to follow Bob's path (Bob is my brothers name) and instead of making a chocolate spread and peanut spread sandwich. Make a chocolate sandwich with a handful of salted peanuts thrown in ! ! !

It's A Taste Explosion MOFO's !

They've got those for a squid in the local Co-Op here too, Fiend. Or maybe they're Bisto. Never considered buying such things frozen before but for a poundshillingpence I may just be tempted come shopping day.

Currently munching 'pon the last two slices of bread - toasted cos it was stale and with the last scrapings of peanut butter atop them. I do <3 me a lil peanutty buttery Goodness <3

NUTTER YUMMY!

I'll be making tuna pasta casserole ( out of a packet no less 8o ) For tonight's dinner. I'm not even really all that hungry just now. Gonna aim for a 6pm dinner call. We'll see.
