Don't know if you already do, TES, but I have a feeling you might appreciate the genius of Lawrence, one of my all-time favourite songwriters. He's had three stabs at stardom, one in the eighties with Felt, one in the nineties with Denim and now he goes under the name Go-Kart Mozart. All incarnations being very different from each other but all great.

Anyway, here's one of his best - it's him reflecting on his childhood in the seventies over an epic tune. Builds to a really euphoric crescendo at the end that never fails to send shivers down my spine.

Denim - The Osmonds

Fantastic.

I didn't, but I do now - thanks...
Looks like there's a great documentary about him which I'll check out - from the Guardian review, he sounds like he's got his priorities right
The Grauniad said:
In 1986, Lawrence, the mononamed frontman of Felt, recruited a new bass player. Phil King (later of Lush) was chosen not merely for his musicianship or his ability to fit in with the enigmatic indie band, but for his hair, seemingly always a deciding factor when Lawrence hired or fired musicians: an early drummer had been booted out because his was too curly, a previous bassist had got the gig because his was "lovely and thick".

Yeah, he's a truly fascinating character. Bobby Gillespie used to get people to stay over at his flat because nobody could believe how ridiculously clean it was. He never eats cheese or vegetables either. Unfortunately heroin addiction more or less sidelined him for a long time.

I'm really looking forward to that film. My mate went to the premiere and he says it's fantastic - really moving.

Ryoji Ikeda - Data.Matrix - Live at Sonár 2010

Ikeda is not only a musician, but also an artist (conceptual installations).
And this video is worth watching for both the piece of music and the projectional art. It's really quite something, possibly not for everyone, but everyone should possibly give it a go :)
.... Except for sufferers of Epilepsy ;)

Also, this is a really beautiful piece of ... I don't know what it is really, poetry and soundscapes. Regardless, check it out:
Dumb Type - Forest Of Memories

Beautiful, wonderful, soaring. I don't think there's anything that brings me euphoria and gloom in such brilliantly balanced doses.

did you hear this yet? ... s'available to dl, but also available in wider release sometime in march i think, if you're the guilty kind. if you dig around a bit on this page you might be able to find a dl link. it takes a while to dl though.
