youre so camp lol
Don't know if you already do, TES, but I have a feeling you might appreciate the genius of Lawrence, one of my all-time favourite songwriters. He's had three stabs at stardom, one in the eighties with Felt, one in the nineties with Denim and now he goes under the name Go-Kart Mozart. All incarnations being very different from each other but all great.
Anyway, here's one of his best - it's him reflecting on his childhood in the seventies over an epic tune. Builds to a really euphoric crescendo at the end that never fails to send shivers down my spine.
Denim - The Osmonds
Fantastic.
The Grauniad said:In 1986, Lawrence, the mononamed frontman of Felt, recruited a new bass player. Phil King (later of Lush) was chosen not merely for his musicianship or his ability to fit in with the enigmatic indie band, but for his hair, seemingly always a deciding factor when Lawrence hired or fired musicians: an early drummer had been booted out because his was too curly, a previous bassist had got the gig because his was "lovely and thick".
