Actually, I used to work in Threshers in Southsea when I was a student, and we sold it there. Never seen it for sale round here, despite being about 20 miles from where it's made. Or ever tried it for that matter.

Although not a fan of alcohol and rarely if ever drink. I am partial to a bottle of Stella Cider (I refuse to call it cidre - fucking impudent French twats! - Joke!! ). I only buy one bottle every month or two (I'm not intending to get pissed, I just like the taste). Instead of putting ice cubes in it I put it in the freezer until it has semi-solidified into a kind of cider slush puppy.

Tastes fucking lovely although at about 2 and a half quid a bottle, it's pretty expensive. I guess though if you are drinking it as infrequently as I am then it doesn't matter too much that it's a little expensive.

My boss at work gave the whole station bottles of wine this xmas to say thanks. I got a bottle of Luis Felipe Edwards Reserva Merlot 2013 which when I looked it up online was a pretty expensive bottle of Chilean Red (just under 9 quid a bottle) but to me it tasted rank. Admittedly I no wine connoisseur and hate red wine to start with but it was just so heavy and bitter tasting. Not my idea of a refreshing glass at the end of a hard day at all.

Having said all that I'm sure someone who knows a lot more about wine than I do will come along and educate me about the nuances of red wine (I'd actually appreciate that - love learning new things).....but at present, I just don't get it cos it tasted fucking foul!!.........IIRC, IMO, IME, YMMV etc. etc. etc. (ad nausium) lol!

^ 9 quid expensive for a bottle of wine? Pshh I don't spend under £7 if I'm buying to drink for the taste (and can afford to) rather than to get pissed. Unless it's on offer of course which is what I usually do, bottle that's usually £8 reduced to £5 or whatever.

I've got no actual real wine knowledge from learning about it formally, I just drink an awful lot of it (red that is, know nothing about white) so I've errmm learnt from experience you could say. I never used to even be able to tell the difference between reds but once you've been drinking it for a while you notice that there's a massive variation in taste even in the same grape variety because it all depends on the year/country/soil the grapes were grown in and all that shit.

I doubt I'd be able to pick out all the flavours like wine taster ponces do but I can tell from reading the bottle now if I'm going to like something, so like even though I wouldnt be able to pick out the flavours in a taste test or whatever I know which notes I like as all my favourites have them in common so makes it kinda easy to choose a nice one. Plus I tend to prefer wines from France, Australia or South Africa I've noticed so I always look at them first too if choosing something new.

Surprised you found merlot heavy, merlot is one of the more 'accessable' reds that people who don't drink red wine often tend to enjoy the most because it's lighter (sure there's a better word) than other varieties. I could be wrong about that btw but I seem to remember reading it somewhere ages ago. Also seem to remember that most people who drink red wine often prefer shiraz (which is true for me at least) because it's bolder/deeper flavoured. Some people just don't like wine at all though, especially red so it's not really surprising if it's just not for you. I drink fucking everything almost but I've never been able to enjoy beer, could drink it if there was nothing else but I'd never choose it.

I'm drinking a Friji fudge brownie milkshake anyway as I am livin' the sober life for a few days. Rock and roll bitches.

I hardly ever drink Summer hun so I don't know much (if anything) about it. My only previous experience of wine was my ex who used to drink those bottles of supermarket Lambrisco that were like 2 quid or something.....hence in comparison, a 9 quid bottle seemed a lot to me.

Every few weekends I buy a bottle of Stella Cider and today is one of those nights as I have tomorrow off work (been working all over the xmas so wooo hooo!! a lie in!!!!).

I think I've left my Stella Cider in the freezer too long though as it's pretty much frozen and can only get a bit at a time out the bottle (doh!!).

Actually re. the bottle of wine that the station team leader bought everyone, I have a seeking suspicion that since everyone knows I hardly drink and even less frequently drink wine, they probably nabbed the better bottles for themselves and gave be the shite one at the bottom of the box that no-one else wanted.

Not that it mattered cos I had half a glass then poured the rest down the sink (sorry Summer, I know that will probably make you cry - good wine being wasted like that )

Friji you say? - well it doesn't get any more Rock & Roll than that ...it's a well known fact that Lemmy from Motorhead would knock back a Friji before snorting lines of crystal meth from off the top of his Marshall. Same with Nicky Sixx, Ozzy , the lot of them....Drugs, whores and Friji was all they used to put on their rider back in the late 70s haha!!

Kidding aside I'm partial to a Friji myself on occasion...Only the Chocolate mind, the Strawberry is for sexual deviants (known fact)

I'd say Frijjis are actually pretty rock n roll. There's probably not a junky alive (at least in the UK) who doesn't gain virtually all of their calories from the stuff.

Currently drinking not strawberry daiquiris. Not cos they're just not but are made with strawberry daiqiri syrupmixgunk (was on offer). This one involved Captain Morgan Spiced Rum, Tanqueray gin and a dash of lemon 'n' limeade. Pure class me.

Well, Frijjis cost nearly two quid apiece at my local shop (when not on offer which they usually are thankfully) so they more or less are five dollar milkshakes I suppose. Hardly surprising cos chemicals ain't cheap these days and there's no way on Earth anything as gloopy as a Frijji is made from actual milk :D

Yeah I think "milk" is pretty far down on the list of ingredients. If you leave it in the fridge it's gloopyness starts to just get silly though doesn't it?

Only piss I've ever drunk was my own experimenting with A. Muscaria//Fly Agaric. On the night/day in question I had also drunk a bottle of Jack Daniels and used said bottle to store the piss in for later consumption. All I can conclude from this is that JD piss tastes worse than any other piss I've ever (non-deliverately) tasted and cold piss is beyond taking the piss in terms of a taste sensation. Also, Fly Agarics may work when pissed out but not anywhere near effectively enough to justify drinking cold piss.
