What Are You Drinking? Four of your 'finest' purple tins, s'il vous plait

I seem to have lapsed back to the whisky again, lets hope its not the slippery slope...I have a bad knee you know !
 
Cheap sherry. Again. First litre was Cream. Jeebers that shit is sweeter than I remembered. Onto the Pale Cream. Still sickly as hell... but also dirt cheap and strong enough to not give much of a shit. Heartburn overload and mild-moderate puking seems inevitable though :(
 
C'mon man... even the purples would be a better option. Don't abuse yourself. :|

Don't drink the sherry! That and barbiturates were an early crypto-Malthusian plot for a cull on Middle England. You heard it here first.

I was standing in a Tesco's filling station the other day and almost ended up buying a litre of "Pale Cream Fortified British Wine" ...its come to that I just look at the alcohol content and the price ...ahhh sweet booze
 
sort of not allowed to drink due to telling the parents about my addictions and how booze makes the cravings worse.. not 'banned' but noticed there isn't a load of beer in the fridge as usual nor wine knocking about, but I am now scarily sober and think there might be some whisky somewhere I can drink, need to chill a bit can't deal with another night of very clearheadedness

I was so tempted to get the toffee apple one, but this was almost twice the strength. No contest.
 
The toffee apple one is sickly sweet. Yuk. The strawberry one is the same.

Got myself some Westons Vintage, 8.5% goodness!
 
Okay, so I've been trying not to spend so much money on ridiculous import beers lately. So in the process I've been sampling a few cheaper options and even revisiting old favourites. At the moment it's this one:

Now any child of the eighties will be familiar with the advertising campaigns. Just look at him - The Laughing Cavalier. Pretty reassuring, eh? A kindly figure from childhood welcoming you back into the warming bosom of more innocent times.

Except it's a disgusting lie.

Read that strapline: "To Copy It Is Forgery". Strong words indeed. It used to also bear the legend "Only ever brewed in Edinburgh, Scotland". Which it doesn't now, because some accountant at Heineken UK (who now own he brand) decided to shut the McEwans brewery in 2005 and move production south of the border to Dunston.

The result? I am drinking a lie. Yet another sign of the madness of global-scale commerce, and the soul of another regional brew passing through the fire to Mammon.

Tastes okay though, all told. :D
 
For some reasons there's a few tins of that sitting in the garage, no idea why as no one here would ever drink it. They've got a fancy new ad campaign on the tele here (in Scotland at least) for it now. 'AYE!'.
 
I can't do cider, so we're even. Except in snakebite.

Spade, if you were any kind of Scotsman you'd have those tins in hand right this minute. The Cavalier is calling... ;)
 
I'm about to run out of cider so I might just well have one in hand soon. ;)

It was one of the main reasons I moved to Bristol, hehe..

edit: to keep thread on track, still drinking the pheasant plucker and chuckling at the name :D
 
Cider is the best! After finishing the Westons last night I started making caprivodkas, suffering today and drinking nothing but water.
